Swansea City Offer to Triple Chris Coleman's Wages for Vacant Manager Role After Bob Bradley Sacking
Swansea City are reportedly eyeing up a move for current Wales national team coach Chris Coleman as their new manager, with the club ready to triple his current wages to secure the move.
The Welsh side sacked former boss Bob Bradley earlier this week following the club's disappointing 4-1 loss to fellow strugglers West Ham United at the Liberty Stadium, leaving the Swans in 19th position with just three wins from 18 fixtures.
And according to the Telegraph, club chairman Huw Jenkins sees Coleman as a serious contender for the vacant position heading into the second half of the season following his heroics with Wales at the Euros in France in the summer.
The 46-year-old led the country to the semi-finals in their first major tournament since 1958, only to lose out to eventual winners Portugal, and despite Swansea having to go through the Welsh FA to seek an interview, Coleman is reportedly keen to hear the offer from the club's American owners.

Sky confirming an approach to the FAW but reiterating what Mrs Coleman (A Sky TV presenter herself) said about preferring to move abroad when his time with Wales is up. I guess things change quickly in football though

Like I said on another thread, I would guess that Coleman would find it very difficult to turn down.
Who would Wales go for then?

After taking Wales to the semis Colemans stock is high, he could do a lot better than the Jacks.

In my opinion if he is offered Jacks job he will take it.

Not sure it could be classed as 'poaching', but Walter Smith did leave the Scotland job to go back to Ibrox. If my memory serves me right!

No decent manager will go there as I don't think they will spend the money needed for 5-6 players, and which manager would risk a relegation on their CV ?
I would not be surprised if it was another American eg Landon Donovan

I know a lot of people on here said that he wouldn't turn Swansea down and that he'll struggle to do better etc. Well to those people i say - You were talking out of your arse!
Your as good as your last job and coleman has worked wonders at Wales (regardless of personnel). He will see out his Wales reign and this campaign (as he should) and regardless of the outcome, he wont struggle to find a job!
Thu Dec 29, 2016 8:18 pm
Maybe I've missed something but I haven't seen Coleman directly quoted as saying he won't go there, just that the premier league is not his priority and he wants to go abroad after his Wales contract. That's not the same as turning them down.

If Jesus took the job I very much doubt that even he could save them. Merry Christmas

Iv followed most of the posts on here and I don't think I have seen anyone say that he wouldnt turn the Jacks down.
As for struggling to do better, well nobody knows the difinitive answer to that untill he leaves the Wales job so I think your the one wgos talking out of their arse pal.

I think your seeing things mate, or twisting words if not, just read the whole thread, can't see anyone say he wouldn't turn it down, a couple have said they think he would take it if offered, now in my vocabulary that is a world apart from saying he wouldn't turn it down.
As for the other bit, yep time will tell

"I think he will take it"
"I don't think he would turn it down"
In this context they are two ways of saying exactly the same thing, that if offered the job then he will say yes. What's hard about that?
It's your comprehension not your vocabulary that needs working on mate.
Either way, it's quite a pointless argument.

Swansea City have ruled Ryan Giggs out of the running to take over as manager of the Premier League club, sources confirmed to ESPN FC on Thursday.
Giggs, the Manchester United legend and former assistant manager at Old Trafford, was the early favourite to succeed Bob Bradley, who was dismissed this week after only 11 games in charge.
However, as earlier reported by BBC Sport, Swansea are not considering Giggs as Bradley's successor, with the focus switched to other targets.
A source close to Giggs said the 43-year-old "was unconvinced by the prospect of the job and did not pursue the chance to stake his claim to succeed Bradley."
The remaining candidates include Wales manager Chris Coleman, Bayern Munich assistant Paul Clement and Gary Rowett, who was sacked by Birmingham City earlier this month.
Swansea are also "aware" of Harry Redknapp's interest in the job, a source said, after the former Tottenham boss called the position "an interesting challenge."

Rowett or clement seem sensible appointments to me, as should relegation happen they would then be given time to plan for an immediate return to the PL next season. Neither are in a position to demand a huge salary or more importantly a huge transfer kitty.

One minute he's turned down job but in same thread he's top of list and will take it if offered position? According to my other half who's a Swansea fan it's his Mrs who doesn't want him to take job and she wants a move abroad? Bet he's confused as completely as is this board is apparently !

BBC reporting that their new top targets are Gary Rowett and Paul Clement.
Personally don't think either would keep them up, but Rowett would be a good option to give them the chance of coming straight back up - providing they kept a lot of their team and spent the money.
Clement might prefer to stay as Bayern Munich assistant manager.
