The next 7 days could possibly reveal how the club will be run but more importantly by who. For in the next seven days there are issues to be sorted out and a considerable amount of money to be paid out too. There is a meeting in Malaysia this weekend that sees Alan Whitely fly out there to meet TG. We are under an embargo ( at time of writing ) and we also have to settle or deal with the remainding money on Hudson.
At present there is 2 months ( May and June ) of tax to be paid and this will be approximately £1million, it is safe to say that the club will not want to go back in front of a judge over the same issue again, so they have to pay and pay it soon as the court date is set for August 11th.
In 7 days time the players wages are due ( 28th ) and I dont think the club want the bad publicity that surrounded the club at the beginning of this month regarding the wages, also the club would'nt want the players being unhappy directly before the season starts either.
Before the embargo is lifted, a deal has to be struck with the broker that financed the Hudson deal otherwise the embargo will remain, to settle this in full would cost the club a further £500k.
We are talking of a figure of approximately £2million to be paid out in the next week to a fortnight, what strategy will be used to fund the money ?
There are a few options but which will we see ?
Could the Malaysians put up the money themselves ? Personally I dont think they will, I say this because I think if it was indeed their strategy then why now and not last month or the month before.
Could the other directors in the club put money in ? Again I dont think that will be the case either.
Could there be another investor ? Possibly.
Could it be a player(s) sale ? probable, would be my answer.
There is a reason why TG and Vincent Tan have not bought the club outright but no-one bar themselves know the reason, even though they have invested £6.5million they have not shown that they are ready and willing to takeover the club, lock and stock. Could they have another investor lined up ? As I said above that could very well be the case, it may or may not involve Sam Hammam but thinking further ahead, Langston is another issue that becomes a higher priority as each day nears to the end of the year.
Most believe that PMG want out of the club so whould they put more in, the answer would be no. What about Isaac, Borley and Whitely ? I wouldnt think that any of them have the wealth to sort out the current issues at the club.
So for me I think we are heading fastly towards a player sale unless there is another white knight coming over the hill with a wad of cash, the club has a huge shortfall in it's turnover and that void needs bridging.
Anything is possible with Cardiff City FC but I think we will now start to see 'things' happening at the club or certainly the results from it in the very near future, will this weekends meeting reveal more ?

Baz, I believe it is time that we will see strategys coming to the fore, we cannot go into the season under an embargo and heading to court with another unpaid tax bill. So if the Malaysians are not going to takeover fully then they have to bring in further investment.

vincent tan will be at the meetings which makes me feel more optomistic.
with regards to player sales who on earth in this day and age will better or let alone match the ridiculous wages that ridsdale has put some of our top players on.
it could be a hell of a task to shift them even if you wanted to

Is SAM the white knight ??
Welcolme back Baz
Wed Jul 21, 2010 6:06 pm
yet another good post. Knowing this club i bet chopra will go for less than ipswich offered last month, personally i would love to see sam back, no one can deny he loves the club, inject a bit of passion back into the city, just keep the cheque book away from him. Lol.

baz the malaysians have put 8 million into the club so far and a lot of that after the play off final. as i have said before they could have easily found an excuse to walk away then.
i still think the malaysians will continue to squeeze creditors before plunging large cash amounts into the club and who can blame them as they have put more of their own money into the club in seven weeks than the two previous chairmen did in 7 years

As I have said Steve the money has to come from somewhere and if it is Tan then great but why now and not last month or before, why would we be placed under an embargo, therefore restricting the manager in trading, when the club's major investor decide to put money in furthern down the line and the staus quo remains.

IMO The Malaysians will pay the tax and other immeadate debts (although the Hudson one might get rescheduled) but they won't finance player purchases at this time.

quite simply carl they are trying to get a more realistic wage bill brought into the club so im assuming they would try to get rid of the high earners and wont be bringing anybody who would add to the wages until that happens
im afraid we have had our last few years of glory but are paying a tremendous price for it.
time to take our dose of realism now im afraid but who gives a shit as long as we have a club to whinge about for the next 8 months
Wed Jul 21, 2010 6:28 pm
As much as I agree with what Steve is saying and the wage bill needs to be reduced if the club are to live within it's means but this does not disguise that there is millions of pounds to be paid out now and there is a minimum of another £15million by the turn of the year, even with a reduced wage bill that is not going to be anywhere near enough to solve the issues that need addressing right now and simply put the club need a cash injection and fast, but who is going to push the plunger ?

Carl, are you sure that if money is owed to a broker and not a football club directly that constitues a reason for an embargo? I thought and I maybe wrong that it was only if a club owed another Club.
Surely a " broker" is no different to a bank loan?
As for your question " where will the money come from " no i dont think it will be SH or any offer from him.
I think TG And VT have a long term business plan and not one written on the back of a 20 benson and hedges packet as per the Riddler.
I wouldnt agree either with Steve Davies, that they are the first Chairman to put in their own money, no doubt it's going in the same as the Langston money , in fact probably more secured than the Langston money!!! Riddler was the only , no cash in... plenty cash out syndrome!
Wed Jul 21, 2010 6:44 pm
Although it is owed to a broker it is still a football debt ain't it?

I'm confused to why owing money to a broker is considered a 'football related matter'
If that is the case would say the club owing money to a printing firm because it had failed to cover the costs of match day programme also be considered 'football related?'

maccydee wrote:Although it is owed to a broker it is still a football debt ain't it?
Not sure, thats why i asked the question, I would have thought a broker would have been the same as a bank, a broker just takes more risk and charges higher interest? If it's a broker then surely Charlton have been paid by the broker? Maybe someone can throw some light on this.
Wed Jul 21, 2010 6:52 pm
are the malaysians assesing the personell who are running the club?
are they talking to companies in the far east who could also sponsor and support the club?
it seems most definate that they will only support the club in a limited way, hence the drip feeding.
if they need to sanction anymore monies which seems likely i think as carl has stated they will sell players im afraid.
perhaps they gambled eartly hence the play offs and now they are taking a backward step
there is no way at present can they sell the club to the malaysian community while we are a championship club.
all so frustrating

It's a long term restructure plan Carl, it takes along time,
A. Salvage the foundations that have been on sand.
B. Redig those foundations.
C. Build in a sensible way.
Better than the house falling down!

The debt whether through a third party or not was solely for a football related matter so therefore the FA place an embargo on us.
Wed Jul 21, 2010 7:02 pm
It is also odd that the cash is said to be owed to a 'broker'
Bokers usually arrange loans they don't actually lend the cash themselves.

But surley borrowing the money off the bank to buy a football player for a football team is a football matter, as said by others a broker is an arranger not a loaner either? A broker just arranges a loan? Whatever Charlton through that must have been paid!

So in theory we could get an embargo if we default on the Langston repayments?
Wed Jul 21, 2010 7:11 pm
If it's probable that the club will look at a player sale in order to pay the immediate bills, how does that stack up against the mortgaging of players to Ray Ransons company?
Doesn't he get first call on that cash?

If you look on the Companies House website, Cardiff City Holdings, Cardiff City Football Club and Cardiff City Stadium all have several mortgages lodged against their property and incomes.
If I was speaking to TLG I would ask him to do one of his informative blog pieces on the pecking order for these mortgages should the shit hit the fan.

Not really clear Carl in fairness. All sorts of websites make claims especially regarding football, any chance of checking regulations?
Wed Jul 21, 2010 7:24 pm
Carl the broker thing has been reported by several souces, it just seems odd that the money is apparently owed to a broker rather than a lender.

Maybe Tony the word 'Broker' is wrong but even the club have issued statements recently stating it has 'football creditors' to settle with.
