Should Wilson now get a chance to show what he can do after the last performance from Amos?
Or
Should Amos be allowed to carry on?
Sun Dec 18, 2016 4:57 pm
Voted 'Other' as I think Amos is currently the (slightly) better of two poor Championship keepers and we desperately need to get in someone who can do the job required consistently
Someone like Hull City's David Marshall would suit us and I don't understand why we haven't gone for him before now?
Oh, hang on we did and he was the best keeper we'd had for many a year!
But he wanted to leave, didn't he?
Erm, no, he didn't actually! FACT A major 'faux pas' from the club (and some vociferous supporters who wanted it to happen) in the summer and one we may yet pay for, if it isn't sorted by Neil Warnock in January

he had a contract so therefore didnt have to move anywhere.
its quite normal for footballers to say contradictory to, fans of club he is leaving and has affinity towards.fans of new club where he wants to be liked.
i think the reality lies somewhere in middle

Yes drop him

Wilson was really shit. Both not good enough, but Amos better

Correct both not good enough, what the hell were we thinking of selling the best goalie in the Championship.

Under normal conditions, I'd agree with you. As you will read back, I have been consistent in my assertion that Marshall and his close-knit family did not want to leave either club or city at that time. There are reasons I can confidently state that and I'm happy to re-iterate the fact
Sun Dec 18, 2016 5:22 pm
I think we need to sign a new keeper and it's a ridiculous we're paying Amos so much! Might as well give Wilson a go because he'll only get better. Probably make a few mistakes but Amos is doing that anyway and hopefully we can develop Wilson and not get on his back at every mistake!
Sun Dec 18, 2016 5:24 pm
Neither Amos or Wilson. Get Marshall back where he belongs as a priority. Letting him go was utter madness.
Sun Dec 18, 2016 5:53 pm
I voted other. Both league 1 keepers at best. New goalie in January hopefully.

Wilson is no where near good enough, Amos is better, but very average

What is Bywater doing nowadays

Agreed, I would never have sold Marshall, he is worth God knows how many points, now I would sign or loan a better keeper in the window.....
Sun Dec 18, 2016 6:11 pm
Amos made some horrendous mistakes yesterday, but he will learn from them and needs to be a part of a team that is working together.
Amos is the best keeper we have at the club at the moment.

Wilson deserves a bit of slack to be honest, the kid has been crucified in some quarters yet has been treated appalingly by us.
The kids barely played a first team game in his life apart from 8 games for Wimbledon and then is suddenly thrust into our first team on the back of us selling our number 1 and 2 and supposed to step up within 2-3 games.
Talk about throwing a lamb to the slaughter.

What about the 3rd choice Brian Murphy can't be any worse than other 2
Sun Dec 18, 2016 6:27 pm
I voted other because I don't think Amos or Wilson are good enough, but I do think Amos is the better. Sadly his confidence seems shot to pieces at the moment.
NW will sort this issue out in January I have no doubt about that.
Sun Dec 18, 2016 6:53 pm
I have it on good authority that NW is already in advanced discussions with Fulchester chairman Rick Spangle regarding a possible loan of my hero, Billy The Fish. The other positions are also sorted as he's also signing the large chested Red Indian woman along with their crackerjack invisible striker. 5-0.

Maybe it's his time to shine for a week or two until January

What about Murphy give him a try?

I don't know who this Other is, but he's got to be better than we've got!
Sun Dec 18, 2016 11:03 pm
This was posted on December 1st on Bolton's forum. Im guessing they are not in any hurry to have him back!
Even if we managed to palm off Darren Pratley (£14kpw to 2018) and Ben Amos (£16kpw to 2019) to some suckers, we’d still only be saving a total of £100,000 a week, around £430,000 a month, still just about half of our overspend. And we’d be left with a first-team squad consisting of Howard, Alnwick, Beevers, Derik, Vela, Chris Taylor, Jamie Proctor, Zach Clough and Conor Wilkinson.
It looks like we have been suckered until June then.
How much of the 16k are we actually paying????

I wonder if money hasn't been put in by Deano and/or Anderson due to their apparent falling out and this is making the statement about future stability a problem still. Also, whilst I'm sure we'd be happy to wave off some of those players, it's going to cost some to replace them. We also still have Amos and Pratley to offload, which given their wages and performances (in general) will be difficult.
Jeezus!
Mon Dec 19, 2016 3:01 am
Voted other. Keep him in the side till Warnock hopefully signs a new keeper in January. Amos is better than Wilson.
Mon Dec 19, 2016 7:43 am
I'm losing patience with Amos but anyone thinking that Wilson is even close to being ready to replace him have very short memories.
We need a strong, experienced keeper on loan !
Mon Dec 19, 2016 8:07 am
We'd all love to have Marshall back but his sale was almost purely for financial reasons. We needed the transfer fee to get some new players in and we needed to get his wages off the books.
FFP has not gone away unfortunately.
On the topic in hand however, it's a real problem. Neither Amos or Wilson good enough in my opinion.

Supporters slagging off Wilson need to re think this guy is really young and was not to blame when he was playing under trollop he played against Preston and Wilson made one mistake the 2 other goals were the poor crap in front of him and he actually saved us from getting another 6-0 thrashing that night.
Wilson is the future unless of course he looks at this site see the people who think they are experts slagging him off and leaves who would blame him however he is better than Amos actually the last few goals that have gone in against us were a joke a dreadful display by keeper and defence.
keeper and back 4 has to be changed but ffs support the youngsters like Wilson this is why managers have to protect youngsters as people attack them as soon as they make 1 mistake some the things said against Declan John totally stuns me and the same people moaning last year why Slade wont play the likes of Healey & OSullivan.
The good thing we have a coach in charge of the youngsters who will tell supporters where to go and protect them
