SECOND-HALF NEARLY ALL CARDIFF, SHOULD OF HAD AT LEAST 3 PENALTIES, BUT CITY NEVER GAVE UP & YET STILL LOST THE GAME.

SLOPPY SLOPPY DEFENDING IN THE FIRST-HALF BY CARDIFF CITY LET MID TABLE BARNSLEY GO IN HT 1-3 UP.

We need to sort our defence out big time.

For me Zohore played well, but not good enough as a striker.

We should not be losing at home to teams like Wigan and Barnsley.

Thankfully City still stay 5th from bottom :thumbright: :thumbright:

It was two changes for Cardiff City, with Warnock going with the side that played the second half against Wolves on Tuesday, and turned the game around so spectacularly.

Lex Immers and Richardson made way for Noone and Zohore

Cardiff City Amos, Peltier, Connolly, Morrison, Manga, Whittingham, Gunnarsson, Noone, Pilkington, Hoilett, Zohore.

Subs
Cardiff City subs: Wilson, Bennett, O’Keefe, Ralls, Harris, Immers, Lambert

Mid table Barnsley visited a Cardiff City side unbeaten in their last three League games.

3rd minAbsolutely classic goal,Whittingham with the corner, brilliant, whipped in towards goal,Morrison climbed highest and nods home and it was 1-0 City :bluebird: :bluebird:

Barnsley then put the pressure on Cardiff and in the 19th min made it 1-1

then our defence once again looking awful allowed Barnsley to make it 1-1 34th min

City did keep at them.

Sloppy defending again by City,Amos at fault 1-3 Barnsley

Zohore was Cardiff's best player, but just can't score.

HT Cardiff City 1 Barnsley 3

Second half it was Cardiff after Cardiff attack, there were three shouts for penalties and City had a lot of headers well saved by Barnsley keeper and some just over the cross bar.

Kadeem Harris came on for Craig Noone

Gunnarson was once again solid :bluebird:

75th min ,On came Rickie Lambert replacing Hoilett.

80th minute Whittingham scored 2-3

City just kept going and in the 89th minute Pilks 3-3 :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

Then as Cardiff were going for the winner, Barnsley scored and beat us 3-4

FT Cardiff City 3 Barnsley 4

Would have been a great point though, as all the others around us lost.

It gives you a headache to think about it! Sloppy defending but lots of positives and negatives, overall I think you have to be pleased with the fightback as thats what you need to fight your way out of a relegation battle! For me we still have momentum and other teams need to fear us! :ayatollah:

Sounds like we were brilliant in the second half but yet again more defensive mistakes undo all the hard work. Was sounding like we could have won it.

All in all, a terrible result going into another run of tough games.

Gutted, i cant handle those type of games. Dumb Amos, shit ref. It was like those horrid games on football manager ;p

I really cant see how Morrison should be in the team, slow, cant tackle and when has time to place a header just sticks it any where.

Yea hes good at heading back long balls but that is it.

Still think a few times Barnsley just passed down the middle of us toooo easy.

Lyn, Warnock realises he will have to clear out about 8 players and bring about 4 in, easier said than done, with No money.

Ned, City played at some stages exciting football, but the way they gave away goals, cost them the game.

Four goals conceded at home against a mid table Barnsley side suggests a striker is not the only priority in January. Saw on here this week somebody thought they had got a good deal with the bookies at 40/1 for a play off place. Bookies are never generous, and only someone wanting to throw their money away would bet on us at 100/1. This season is all about survival. We need more than a striker to get us even into the top 12, and quality players released in January are few and far between. Could be a tough period coming up.

Steve,
Defence is shocking and your right to concede 4 goals against a side like Barnsley at home, means we have big problems at the back.

That defeat was hard to take.

First things first, let's be honest: we were the better team from start to finish. First half, we should have scored 4 or 5. Barnsley's 3 goals in first half came from very quick counter attacking, but it was our own cock ups that allowed those attacks to turn into goals.

Second half was disgusting from Barnsley - I hate seeing teams deploy those kind of tactics. Their keeper should've been sent off from where I was sitting, not just given a yellow. The referee got EVERY big call wrong, possibly worst performance by an official that we've seen at CCS this season.

I defended him after the first goal, but by the end of the game, Amos' performance was inexcusable. 3 of the 4 goals came purely due to his bad decision making, and he didn't even make an attempt to save the other. For their winner, looked like he just chickened out when their player went in for the ball with his boots up.

Shocking. I genuinely thing Amos has to be dropped after that, regardless of whether we've got a replacement coming in for him.

Gunnar immense as always, and Whitts was superb too - both put in player of the match performances. Connolly needs to be dropped, and Peltier moved back over to the right so that he is playing on his correct foot, with Bennett back on the left. Playing Connolly and Peltier out of position is killing us st the back, as is Morrison's poor body language

Re: ' SLOPPY SLOPPY / BUT NEVER SAY DIE CARDIFF CITY & STILL

Sat Dec 17, 2016 5:43 pm

I don't think we were awful. They counter attacked very well in good numbers.
Zohores performance was an improvement on tuesday. Good target man with pace and fight. I don't think he'll ever be a chopra or earnshaw but more of a bothroyd or thorne. At the moment his first touch lets him down a little. If he sorts that, he'll be a massive asset to the team.

Re: ' SLOPPY SLOPPY / BUT NEVER SAY DIE CARDIFF CITY & STILL

Sat Dec 17, 2016 5:51 pm

Amos hardly had a save to make and conceded 4 goals, one of which he was totally at fault for and I think he was too slow off his line for the winning goal. A new keeper is a priority.

Re: ' SLOPPY SLOPPY / BUT NEVER SAY DIE CARDIFF CITY & STILL

Sat Dec 17, 2016 5:59 pm

Being caught out on the counter attack once is bad enough, but for same thing to happen again for their 3rd goal is very poor. Surely we should not be outnumbered at the back when a team breaks from our attacking corner kick. Thought we were more comfortable when Peltier plays right back and Bennett on the left. Connolly always seems to struggle at full back.
We played some good stuff 2nd half but we cannot gift teams goals like 1st half today.

Sat Dec 17, 2016 6:07 pm

I agree losing to the likes of barnsley at home isn't good enough,I wasn't at the game but from watching the highlights we looked slow at the back and we gave away some terrible goals, but on the plus side we can at least score goals even if we didn't get as many as we probably should have

Re: ' SLOPPY SLOPPY / BUT NEVER SAY DIE CARDIFF CITY & STILL

Sat Dec 17, 2016 6:35 pm

Number 1 priority for us in January has to be a keeper and more than that I'd drop Amos now before he costs us more points. Debatable today if Amos or that Referee did most damage to the team. How the f**k did we not get at least 1 penalty today.

On a positive note Zohore, Gunnarsonn and Whitts were excellent today. We deserved more than we got but whilst Amos remains in the team we will have more days like today.

Our defence was awful and its worrying.
Conceding 4 goals at home to Barnsley, that is awful
Zohora has improved, but he's here as a striker so needs to score.

Jimbo, Our defence has never been the same since Marshall left, Bolton fans warned me about Ben Amos, he make his defence have jitters and Bolton conceded the most goals in the Championship last season with Amos in goal.

Encouraged by the effort and character to come back but so frustrated with the big moments that swang the result Barnsleys way.
The refereeing decitions... The same ref that didn't give the stone waller at Newcastle. Hoilette hitting the post and missing a good chance to go 2-1 up and Lambert's big chance to win it at the end.

The most frustrating thing for me was the defending from Peltier and Manga for the winner. These are apparently experienced pros and they let one player muscle them both off the ball and slide it across the box for a tap in. You've got to Push, kick, pull do whatever it takes be professional but you can't just let him breeze into the area like he did. If I was Warnock they would have both been getting the hair dryer, flying boot and kitchen sink thrown at them for that pathetic attempt.

People keep focusing on Amos but they are plenty of other weakness and I'm really looking forward to seeing what Warnock can do in this transfer window and even more excited what he will do in the summer.

Re: ' SLOPPY SLOPPY / BUT NEVER SAY DIE CARDIFF CITY & STILL

The squad is very weak and we are paying for some terrible management decisions this summer.

Alot of fingers are pointing at Amos and rightly so. It was always going to be difficult to replace Marshall but what a mess we have made of it. He is one of those transfers where you struggle to keep quiet about knowing its a bad one but you do as you want to give it a chance. That chance is passed its sell by date and the only good thing about it all is that us supporters are united about something for once and that being Amos is crap.

Being a bit kinder to him he is in good company with a just as bad defence yesterday. I can imagine a few apologises were said in the dressing room after the game. The setup does not give you much confidence for the remaining games.

Usually in dire situations like this you turn to others to pull you though it. Well I'm struggling to see where that is coming from. Warnock is the only light here and I hope he has got the answers in January. I'm dubious he has because that window is just very difficult to solve things.

Gary, I believe your right, Amos will cost us more than he will save us in the long run,but I can't see us replacing him as Warnock is very limited in how much money he will have, so he can only encourage Amos.

And of course we need a striker.

We could of had at least three penalties decisions yesterday, awful Ref, but I don't blame him for our defeat,I blame our own defence and sloppiness.
