Avoiding bottom six...

NEIL WARNOCK:

"One defeat and your back in it, we’ve got to get a better goal difference, we’re catching up other teams slowly though.
With the games coming up, it’s going to be a difficult time."

"We need to get as many points as and when we can."
"If you’re in bottom six of any league you’re more likely to go down. It’s obvious"

Fixtures tough

"We seem to have the tough games repeated.February and March gives us a better run in.
We’re doing well from when I took over, saw a league table since then, and we were up near the play-offs."

"I think Barnsley are as good an away side as there is in the league, they’re my old club - a lovely club,"

Neil Warnock will be hoping that his players can replicate Craig Bellamy's passion for the club on the pitch today in the clubs last match before Christmas.

By Jack Vittles

It's a damning statistic that 93 per cent of clubs relegated from the Championship in the last 10 years tucked into their Christmas turkey while in the bottom six. The time for Cardiff to move away from the foot of the table has come.

The visit of Paul Heckingbottom's side gives them the chance to make it back-to-back league victories for the first time since March, and Warnock thinks his side will be buoyed by the comeback win against Wolves on Tuesday night.

"The Wolves result has given us all a lift. There's a lot more positivity about the place.

"I think Barnsley are as good an away side as there is in this league. It's one of my old clubs, but then with me that's every other week isn't it?"

The Bluebirds boss has fond memories of his time with Barnsley.

"I loved it up there. It's a great club, real hard-working people. I see a lot of similarities in that sense with the Cardiff fans."

Saturday will mark Warnock's 11th match in charge of Cardiff City, the same number of matches Paul Trollope lasted in the dugout, and he says he has now had time to work with all the players. Despite that, he admits he is hoping the transfer window can help him to form a clearer view of his own team.

"I think I've finally assessed all the lads here now. I know who I want to keep and who I'll be less sorry to see go. I want to have a clearer idea of things by the middle of January. I want less foggy areas, at the moment it's quite misty."

Whisper it quietly, but Cardiff are unbeaten in their least three matches and have moved up to 19th in the table - three points clear of the bottom three.

After the remarkable turnaround win against Wolves in the week, Neil Warnock will he hoping that his Cardiff City side can record back-to-back league victories for the first time since March.

There is a chance the Bluebirds can jump up to 17th in the table by 5pm today if results fall kindly elsewhere, and that would represent a good place to be at Christmas given the start they had under Paul Trollope.

Speaking of the former manager, today is also Warnock's 11th match in charge of Cardiff - the same number that Trollope lasted.

Barnsley are the visitors to Cardiff City Stadium today, and Paul Heckingbottom's side are comfortably in mid-table despite being tipped for the drop at the start of the season.

Can the Bluebirds send their fans home today with an early Christmas present?

What's Bennett done wrong to be dropped then? Wasn't at Ipswich so couldn't comment on him there but he's been very solid for us since he's been back from injury.

Norms,I'm shocked.

Annis, I know Warnock has been tinkering with the squad trying to find his best 11 but in my opinion Bennett has been very consistent, I'm a bit miffed by this myself, perhaps he's carrying a knock?

In Warnock we trust though. :bluebird: :bluescarf:

Big game for Noone and Zohore

Our Cardiff City writer Phil Smith has his say on Warnock’s team selection

So the injury worries that were troubling Neil Warnock yesterday have obviously cleared up and he is able to name the side that turned the tide so impressively on Tuesday night. Big games for Kenneth Zohore and Craig Noone, who need to show they can perform on a consistent basis after their cameos against Wolves. Good to see Stuart O’Keefe back on the bench, too.
