MMA FANS/WELSH FIGHTERS DEBUT IN THE UFC

Sat Nov 19, 2016 11:51 am

UFC Belfast tonight will be the first card in history to feature a Welsh fighter. And there's not one, but two Welsh fighters on the card.

http://www.bbc.com/sport/wales/38007266

Jack Marshman (20-5) a paratrooper, is making his middleweight debut against a guy who is 4-0 in the UFC.

Brett Johns (12-0), spent last winter sleeping in the gym because he had no money for the bus to get back and forth from training to home.

Huge break for both of them and massive for MMA in South Wales.

Watching the UFC press conference and weigh ins last night there was lots of Welsh football tops and bucket hats there in support, who knows we might see a stadium of red, white and green one day at a UFC event in Wales!

Good luck boys!

Marshman is from Abertillery where I'm from. He's a great talent. His trainer Richard Shaw has a son jack who is also a very big talent in the sport and could be another 1 to hit the big time 1 day. Gonna rush home from footy and try to get home ASAP to catch it as not sure what time welsh boys are fighting. Although my son has said jack is last preliminary but not 100%.

Yeah the Welsh lads are on the preliminary card, so I'd double check if its the main card or prelims thats start at 9pm. Sure a quick check on BT planner will tell you!

Lets hope for a double victory!

Couldn't have asked for much more than that. Two wars and two wins!

Marshman wants on the UFC card in London in march and I wouldn't be surprised to see both of them on it after those performances.

He had a nice 50k bonus no fight of the night but 4 performance bonuses given and he had 1.
Apparently Brett John's broke his jaw during the fight. Great credit to him for continuing and getting the result

Sorry pal must be my accent. ;)
There was no fight of the night given (usually 100k bonus) but they gave 4x performance of the night and marshman was 1 of them resulting in a 50k bonus
