Wez, I've just rung someone and they said the same as you. So why the hell did the Parliament Committee bring it up live on the BBC Today.
Surely they are well out of order?

Its old news, the Warnock thing was Jan 2014.

MPs hear allegations Cardiff City boss Neil Warnock 'made players pay him to get into his team'

MONDAY 17TH OCT 2016

Media Wales

BY JACK VITTLES

Conservative MP Damian Collins repeated allegations made by Crystal Palace player Jason Puncheon, but an FA chief said there was no hard evidence

Allegations against Cardiff City manager Neil Warnock have dramatically been made public during a parliamentary inquiry into the governance of football.

The Culture, Media and Sport committee was meeting with Football Association chairman Greg Clarke and FA director of strategy Robert Sullivan on Monday morning.

The inquiry was announced on October 4 and tasked with looking into major failings of football governance in the UK and the need for reforms.

Using his parliamentary privilege, chair of the committee, Conservative MP Damian Collins, repeated allegations made by Crystal Palace player Jason Puncheon about Neil Warnock on Twitter.

Mr Collins said: "In January 2014 it was reported that Jason Puncheon the Crystal Palace player made allegations on Twitter regarding Neil Warnock - his former manager.

"The tweets have been deleted but they are available online and I'll read out the relevant bit. He said 'What I won't accept is an opinion from a man who's crooked and ruining the game. The man who signs players, gives them extra wages and appearance bonuses to make sure they pay him to get into the team or on the bench. The fact that he can even talk about training is shocking. He was never there.'"

Mr Collins went on to question Mr Clarke and Mr Sullivan: "Did anyone speak to him [Puncheon] to follow up on the quite serious allegations that he made?"

Mr Sullivan responded: "I am not party to the operational conversation between him and the investigations team. So I do not know that."

Mr Collins then said: "I'd be interested to know, I think it would be pretty poor, it would be another example of where someone has gone public and made an allegation, in this case about Neil Warnock. You'd think if the FA has got this in-house resource of former police officers who could investigate these things, what they would do is they would probably have a conversation with this player and say 'why have you made this allegation? Privately, can you explain your position to us?'"

Mr Sullivan responded: "That's absolutely correct. I think where the line is difficult to draw is bringing forward real evidence that can actually be used to take an investigation forward. Because there are comments that are made on social media and there is actual hard evidence that investigations team can actually use to bring forward a case."

Warnock took charge of his first Cardiff City match on Friday night as he watched his side beat Bristol city 2-1 in front of their biggest crowd of the season.

He was previously in charge of Crystal Palace in 2014 - his second spell at the club which he also managed between 2007 and 2010.

probably some of the best player / agent / manager relationships aren't from the FA guidelines but one fact remains, successful managers intend on remaining so

Interesting nevertheless, First I heard of Warnock rumoured to be straying from legit practices

The key information with this is the FA saying there is no hard evidence of what Jason Puncheon posted on Twitter. The tweets were deleted and he was fined £15k by the FA. I also note that Jason Puncheon was arrested for robbery in Croyden in 2006 and has been keen to tell anyone who cares that he is a changed man. I don't think accusations posted on social media by a wrong'un are going to merit being taken seriously. Sounds like sour grapes from someone who should be in jail for robbery.

I'm not so sure. Rumours were circling in this part of the world regarding Warnock's antics at Palace, long before Puncheons tweet. The FA didn't investigate it as Puncheon deleted his tweet. Its important to note that they fined him not because he lied but because he was outspoken and brought the game into disrepute type thing. They didn't investigate because officially no complaint was made.

I'm sure it was around the same sort of time Allardyce was *allegedly* pressuring Ravel Morrisson with an improved contract and a run in the team if he switched agents to his own. Football is full of this type of stuff. Look at our own Malky and Moodie situation. Again it is all alleged and none proven, but I think it would be naive to think this stuff doesn't go on in a world where there is so much money and greed.

You're all so keen to believe Colin is clean!!

I bet you wouldn't have been so sure a couple of months ago. Self interest? Nooooo.....

And to suggest an MP is corrupt or wishes Cardiff City ill. Pull the other one.

Let's face it, Colin is one of a group of the "old school" like Redknapp and Big Sam that many people have had their doubts about over the years.

At least accept the suspicions MAY have some foundation, even if you do think he's a good 'un and Puncheon isn't.

In a way you've nailed it. Perhaps fans don't care as long as the results are good. Trollope couldn't of survived a scandal as it triggers an owners right to sack an underperformer

A storm in a teacup, I think this is all you need to read! :ayatollah:

1. Parliamentary privilege used to put Puncheon's claims into public domain

2. No evidence of any truth to them but MP accused FA of not investigating

Its being going on for decades when I played it was called Sub's if you didn't pay you didn't play.

Seriously Puncheon apologised said it was unfounded (legal term for a lie) .

Old news dragged up because Warnock is now big news again .

Sorry. Lost on Me. I'm just a passing Bristol City fan with nothing (much) against Cardiff, but who has never liked Warnock - his football, his personality or his media manipulation.

Warnock statement:

" These allegations are completely and utterly false.

"The FA Commission considered all of the evidence in detail in 2014 and it found that the allegations which were published about me were unfounded. Any suggestion that the FA failed to investigate this matter is simply untrue.

"In fact, Mr Puncheon apologised to me and removed the allegations from his Twitter account. The FA fined him £15,000 and he was warned as to his future conduct.

"I am disappointed that these allegations have been repeated after Mr Puncheon’s apology and after the FA investigated fully. If anyone had asked me the truth before publication, I would have pointed them to the FA website, where the facts are all easily accessible."

i have heard from an individual who has had contact with several professionals who have done business with him that he is an awful human being. as for this allegation, there is no way of proving it conclusively either way, but i have heard bad things about warnock's conduct as a manager that cannot be published on this site (don't want to risk any legal action, however unlikely).

The MP 'leading" this, Damian Collins, was accused of fraudulantly claiming expenses for a second London home which he managed to wriggle out of. Maybe there should be another inquiry into that.

Same old Tories, always cheating......

This muppet politician has disgracefully abused his parliamentary privilege. I can guarantee he would never use those words outside the house of commons.

If he really believes what he has said is true, he should be challenged to say it outside the house.......and then be prepared to get his sorry ass sued for every meagre penny he has.

To me it's irrelevant whether the accusations are true or false, it's more about this idiot hiding behind a privilege that only 650 people in this country have.

I feel a siege mentality coming on which at the end of the day will serve us, not hinder. :bluebird:

The point I was trying to make was the plain truth that this politician will not make the statement he made anywhere except the house of commons, shielded by the privilege that comes with it.

This is a story from 2014. If there's any truth in it why has this politician not come out and bang the drum in public?

I don't know whether NW has taken a bribe or not, but quite frankly I don't give a f**k.

If you want to believe any rumour you hear, and then relentlessly pursue it that is your choice, you have more time than me. I just hope you weren't on the "Ched Evans is a rapist" bandwagon cos that has been proven to be false, but unfortunately many lives have suffered in the process.
