Adam Le Fondre vents on Twitter at his situation with Cardiff City
Saturday 13th August 2016
Cardiff City striker Adam Le Fondre has not found first-team football easy to come by in the Welsh capital in recent years.
He has spent time out on loan at Bolton Wanderers and Wolverhampton Wanderers over the past 18 months and has not played for the Bluebirds since the 17thJanuary 2015.
Cardiff changed managers during the summer however with Paul Trollope taking over from Russell Slade. But any hope that this switch might have helped Le Fondre’s chances have been extinguished at the start of this campaign.
Today the former Reading player has taken to Twitter to express his willingness to enjoy an under-21 game v Chelsea – with his first-team future seemingly not with Cardiff.
Le Fondre is a model professional so will no doubt be working hard to make his way back into the Cardiff first-team but has the likes of Frederic Gounongbe, Kenneth Zohore and Lex Immers ahead of him and fellow outcast Federico Macheda in the pecking order.
‘Alfie’, as he is affectionately known, will be hoping to get some first-team action soon – although it remains unlikely to be with Cardiff.

The question is have we got anyone better at the moment? Same with Macheda??
With just over ten months of his remaining contract left, & with little interest from other clubs, what are our options, apart from letting him expensively rot in the development team???

NO! but since Macheda had his back operation, I would give him a go up front. End of last season at least he was looking as if he gave a damn and was trying

ALF offers more than Machado - give him a go

It's a tricky one this.
Previous reports saying he didn't want to play for us etc. etc. There were lots of rumours flying around about his attitude but do we know the full story? It says in the OP's report that he's a model professional and his willingness to play.
If he was given a chance, he would know he's in the shop window for a transfer which he presumably wants. May be good for both parties.
My view is that he probably won't get his chance again here.

Sadly at the moment I'd start with Pilks upfront.
Then the best we have is le Fondre and Macheda.
I have no problem with Le Fondre every game he played for us he worked hard. Slade didn't treat him very well, played every game then told he was going out on loan one morning.

Personally I think he's the closest we got to a natural goalscorer at the moment and who knows in the new system playing through the middle with good link up play with whitts immers and pilks he may just be what we are looking for
Sat Aug 13, 2016 8:46 am
Personally I don't think its the strikers or the formation its the service the strikers are getting(or not in this case). As Alf will only get on the end of a decent ball if played to him I would say his contribution would be no different to what we got at the moment.

See if a club had come in for him be wouldn't be on twitter the problem is nobody wants him at the wage he's on plus he's lost that goal scoring touch a bit, personally I think if he was given a run of about five games he'd start to score goals but he won't be given that opportunity

I don't believe Le Fondre will get anywhere near the first team and one of the reasons he is still here is that the club are trying to get a fee for him. That on top of his silly wages is holding up any potential deal and I can see this ending in a "mutual agreement" parting of the ways in the same way that Cala and Guerra left in the last couple of years.
Unfortunately if that does happen it will likely be after the transfer window closes and without a loan window available this will leave us looking only for free agents.
Perhaps the question should be if he is still here after the transfer window closes should he be given a chance and for me it then becomes a no brainer. As a proven goal scorer at this level of course he should be given a chance. But that will involve common sense and we don't have a lot of that around the club so I would put money on a Cala / Guerra resolution to this issue.

Le Fondre and Macheda both played in the friendly at Forest Green recently. Macheda actually scored. If they are still on our books, and we are paying them, then they should be in contention like everybody else. In contention; then it's up to them to prove themselves in training. Surely it's in both their interests to show a bit of willing. Usually with a new manager everybody gets a chance to prove themselves. Trollope gas given Declan John another chance, so it's up to the players to force him to do the same.

the problem is we're not willing to spend and we're trying to offload high earners. There is one inevitable sub plot which remains hanging over city at moment. is our owner just playing the time game trying to recoup as much as possible before parachute payment stops at end of 2016-17 season, then sell on for what he can get. Will it be that we're in div one by then, I think so unless a change of policy is forthcoming. To be fair we look as if we wouldn't score with a thousand pound in their pocket playing on the magic roundabout

He did work hard, he used to have a decent record before us. If the club want to sell players due to wages, play Alf and possibly Macheda as our new guys are struggling! Get them sharp and put them in other teams' thoughts is my view

Yes, whilst he is here we absolutely should be using Alf. We are paying him a fortune to 'rot' in the reserves.
He is the best striker that we have at the club - even when he was playing, but not scoring his work rate and movement was excellent; part of our problem at the moment is that we are have so little quality movement up front we are too one dimensional and easy to play against. His movement and pulling defenders around, would give more space for another striker or for our midfielders to get into the box.
Every point counts and we should be using every resource we have to get those points. He certainly isn't going to be any worse than what we already have and if he really wants away, the next two weeks might just give him a window to show what he can do, meaning all parties benefit.

Yes both him and Macheda should be earning their wages and helping the first team win games.

Pointless discussion and daft article (again) by Johnson on walesonline . Tucker actually made more sense and could be very funny. Alf and Kiko are finished at the club. At present our best strikers are still Pilks and Immers. We need to sign two tidy strikers asap. Both Alf and Macheda have had their chances and the former especially was inept in front of goal.

If there was a WalesOffline story called 'Should Scott Johnson Get Another Chance', the only person to comment 'Yes' would be Scott Johnson. Gash.

Bit of a myth that one. Dont think he's ever scored more than 12 goals in the season in the top two leagues. His reputation is bigger than it warrants in my opinion.

Looking at his career, you do make a good case to disprove the false narrative that he is any good

All goes back to the disaster that is Ole

Do you think any of our current strikers will get 12?

Pilkington will be the most likely. Immers has a chance but can't see Zohore or Fred getting that many

It's too early to say yet.

This has become an interesting thread,,, & looking at it from another angle,,,does ALF want to play for us??
Its been well documented that the only reason ALF signed for us was because (not only the money) that he was a big admirer of OGS.
Personally, if you believe that, you will believe anything. I hope the guy(s) move on quickly,,,for All concerned!!!

yes , give him a go , the 2 in favour at the moment not the answer

Only in imagination do Adam Le Fondre and Federico Macheda look like goal-scoring heroes.
In reality, they are two washed up has-been's, who gave up on their career ambition when things didn't quite go their way.
I see Joe Mason on the scoresheet for Wolves today... He's not going to end up like either of those two as he actually has desire to graft.

Good points, & I think you just probably answered the original posters question!

We are paying him good money for nothing, he is a goalscorer ( given service) . He at least needs to be on the bench .
Mon Aug 15, 2016 12:30 am
I'd stick him on the bench.
