' NORWICH TO MEET VALUATION OF CARDIFF MIDFIELDER '

By DANIEL EMERY

Thursday 11th August 2016

Norwich City and Derby County are both ready to meet Cardiff’s £2m valuation of midfielder Aron Gunnarsson, according to the Derby Telegraph.

The report says that Cardiff value the midfielder at £2m and that Norwich, and Derby, are now willing to match that fee.

This means that the two Championship promotion hopefuls will now have to battle it out in order to secure his services. It will now be a case of who can offer more money and regular game-time.

Gunnarsson is unlikely to get regular game-time at Norwich, with the likes of Jonny Howson, Alex Tettey, Youssouf Mulumbu and Graham Dorrans at the club.

However, if Mulumbu were to leave, there could be a vacant spot on the bench for Gunnarsson to join Norwich.

This does appear to be an unusual one, with many Norwich supporters bemoaning the club in recent seasons for signing a plethora of midfield players and not addressing problems in the attacking or defensive thirds.

Gunnarsson,A Leader,Battler,Passion,International Player, another good player could leave,I really hope not.

And some on here will say another bit of good business by City again, well if we don't make top 6 by May 2017,all these sales will 100% not turn out to be good business.

City need to re-invest money in to our squad ASAP starting with a good striker :thumbright: :thumbright:

This is another one which wouldn't disappoint me too much.

Gunnarsson was a regular starter when he first joined us, but can't see him getting many games for us now. I think we have better players in midfield. Unfortunately, he has had a few injuries while with us.

Could be a choice for him of sitting on the bench for us, or for Norwich.

But you're looking at that from a negative point of view Annis.

Could easily say that if we make the top six, then this will be seen as good business.

Ned, If you keep getting rid of Quality, how can I feel positive? Rem Fabio and Gunnarsson are my two favourite players.

I will be positive when I see some quality new signings :thumbright: :thumbright: :bluebird: :bluebird:

Gareth Williams Be disappointed if he leaves. A leader on the field, something we're lacking since Hudson was moved on, again wrongly in my opinion.
Should he leave £2 million is cheap in comparison to the ridiculous fees being paid this summer and given his performances at Euro 2016.

I don't think either will be a big miss, that's my opinion. I can understand people not being happy more about Fabio than Gunnarsson.

Tell me how many games has he played the last two seasons?

Re: ' NORWICH TO MEET VALUATION OF CARDIFF MIDFIELDER '

Thu Aug 11, 2016 9:05 am

tbh i like him alot but if he's not going to play what's the point of keeping him we may as well cash in on what happened in france when he played for iceland but imo we should keep him plus make the boy captain since hudson left we haven't had a leader on the pitch he would be perfect sorry guys rant over

Re: ' NORWICH TO MEET VALUATION OF CARDIFF MIDFIELDER '

Thu Aug 11, 2016 9:06 am

Ralls and O'Keefe have moved ahead of him in the pecking order, and we still have Adeyemi and O'Sullivan (apparently) in the wings. The new formation needs 3 rather than 4 midfield players, so it seems we have plenty of midfield players. Gunnarson hasn't reached the same levels of 4 years ago, and certainly nowhere near the levels he showed in the Euros with Iceland.£2m is a fair price.

From his point of view, I don't think I'd want to go anywhere without regular first team football.

As far as re-investing in players is concerned, we just have to be patient as there are still 3 weeks until the transfer window closes. Most of the action will be in the last few days when the Premier League players release players for loan.

For what its worth, I think Norwich are more nailed on for promotion than Newcastle or Villa.

Valuation is subjective as it's what clubs will pay! My thoughts are gunner doesn't fit into what trollope is doing, as for fabio cannot afford let him go for nothing ! As said let's see who comes in Then can have better idea if what he's doing is good or bad.

gunnarson is on a large wage and I don't think is going to get in Trollope team, so good bit of business ,gunnarson does a lot of pointing but not much else

Re: ' NORWICH TO MEET VALUATION OF CARDIFF MIDFIELDER '

Thu Aug 11, 2016 9:08 am

you have to question things like this when two stronger clubs than us want to sign him.

Hes been a good player for us over the years and ill be sorry to see him go. That being said hes not in the starting xi and has sale value.

The latter are just poor finishers that's why can't give them away, must question their perchase in 1st place on their wages contact?

Annis didn't know was for sale last season? think can give club/ trollope benefit of doubt this season regarding player sales ect, but next season no excuses as cost cutting be well and truly finished .

Allan, the fans won't keep taking cost cutting, they are voting with their feet and sadly this will get worse unless we are top 6 this season.

That's what I'm saying this season must be last of cutting! Next season must show ambition to appease fans, problem is I think 10k is our hard core fan base and to go below that will be disastrous for club and can see us slipping out champ in couple of years!

Can understand club want him off the wage bill.

But the other reason is he's not good enough? Ralls, Whittingham, O'Keefe are all better than him.

Re: ' NORWICH TO MEET VALUATION OF CARDIFF MIDFIELDER '

Starting to get a bit worried about the squad that is going to be left at the start of September and with no emergency loan window this season I very much doubt that we have the depth within the squad to compete over a full season.

I can understand and accept the reasons behind trying to move on Macheda, Le Fondre and Dickaghoi but letting both Fabio and Gunnar go is worrying unless both are replaced with experienced Championship players. With regards Fabio £2m for a player in the final year of his contract is better business than selling Gunnar which I simply cannot understand.

Last week the club were talking about hoping to bring in 2-3 players but let these 2 go and we will need that to be 4-5 players just to keep a reasonable number within the squad.

I really feel sorry for PT because is seems to me he is having to operate with his hands tied behind his back.
