Cardiff City are delighted to confirm the signing of Jazz Richards from Fulham, subject to international clearance.

The Welsh international full-back has signed a three-year deal with the Bluebirds, keeping him at Cardiff City Stadium until 2019.

The transfer sees Scott Malone move in the other direction, signing a permanent deal at Craven Cottage, also subject to international clearance. We wish him all the best for the future.

At Club level, Jazz has played in the Championship, Premier League and Europa League, racking up over one hundred career appearances to date.

The twenty-five year old earned his first senior international cap for Wales in 2012, having progressed through the nation’s youth ranks. Jazz went on to impress in Chris Coleman’s side’s EURO 2016 qualification campaign – notably helping to keep a clean sheet in Wales’ 1-0 victory over Belgium at Cardiff City Stadium last summer.

He was then named in the 23-man squad to compete in the EURO 2016 finals in France, featuring in Wales' 2-1 victory over Slovakia in Bordeaux as they began their route to the Semi Finals of the competition.

Speaking exclusively to Cardiff City Player HD, Jazz said: "It’s brilliant to be back in Wales and I think it’s a big opportunity for me.

"I was here as a youngster and enjoyed every minute of it when I was here, so I’m glad to be back."

Cardiff City Head Coach, Paul Trollope, also spoke to Cardiff City Player HD upon Jazz's arrival, adding: "I think he’ll fit nicely with how we’re going to try and work, the philosophy, and the style we’re going to play with.

"He’s obviously a player I know well from the Welsh set-up, and introducing another Welsh element was another big factor as well. I’m really delighted, and excited about him playing for Cardiff this year."

Jazz becomes the Bluebirds' fourth summer signing, following the permanent arrivals of Lex Immers, Frédéric Gounongbe and Kenneth Zohore in the Welsh capital.

Decent signing and getting rid of Malone is a bit of a bonus as well :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

Looks like it's definitely 3-5-2 this season :bluescarf:

Welcome Jazz and good luck at the mighty Bluebirds!

Good to see you've been cleansed of your Jack tendencies!

Anyone know who was the last player we signed who had previously played for Swansea?

Is it Agent Dimi?

We don't need a pacy winger. It doesn't look like we're playing with wingers! :?

Agreed but in that case we need a pacey attacking midfielder. Wales play quick on the break and if we're guna play the same system then we need more pace going forward to damage teams

Underwhelming signing, best of luck to Malone who has gone to Fulham and they got the better deal by a country mile.

I am happy to see Jazz RIchards prove me wrong but for people labeling this signing as decent and good is just purely because we signed a Welsh player, not against having Welsh players but there are none simply good enough (realistically) to play for us bar Jonny Williams.

This guy has never been first choice so very strange to see comments saying 'Decent signing' or 'Good signing'.

I am going to just have to see how he performs, but I do see right back as our weakest position currently with Jazz and Peltier.

But welcome aboard, please prove me wrong. :bluebird:

Im not overally bothered by it, im assuming he are playing wingbacks so he may come in useful but then I think Malone would have done well as a wing back

As Rydog says, it's great to see our manager signing players to fit his philosophy. We have had far too many seasons of previous managers just throwing players onto the pitch to see what they can do (or at least that's what it felt like with some of our dire performances over the years).

We have previously looked a disjointed team of individuals and it's good to see Trollope now seems to be putting a system, game plan and philosophy in place for the squad to buy into. This will ensure the players all know their roles, responsibilities and pull together in the same direction.

Good signing to fit the new style. Looking forward to us having our own identity formation and style of play . Jazz is perfect fit.

Reading the Fulham fans tweets and they celebrating like they've gone up to the Prem, that tells the story in the player we have.

If we play wingbacks I think he'll do well. Like Malone, not the greatest of defenders, but with more of an end-product than Malone from what I've seen. Also, Fabio is always better on the left despite being right-footed.

I remember him having a superb game for Wales in the 3-5-2 on the right hand side. Crossed the ball amazingly.

Will fit right into our system and Declan John ready made replacement for Malone. Good business IMO.

Fulham have got the better of the deal?? Is this the Malone who can't defend, gets caught out of position numerous times each game, has no end product as his crossing is abysmal and has never won an header or a fifty fifty challenge in his life???

I admit I have not seen much of Richards and can only go on his decent performances when he has played for his country but I would be amazed if he doesn't add more to our team than Malone

More of an end product than Malone? Malone had the third most assists for us and I highly doubt Jazz Richards had any for Fulham.

one more needed to really push us on,what do you think annis? a midfielder who can carry the ball past players for me would top this squad off, of course we would love to have a top goalscorer proven at this level but who wouldnt, we have a gd squad if played correctly

Not going to argue with you about stats...stats as you well know can be very misleading

All I do Know is I watched every single home game and 5/6 away games last year and the number of times Malone failed to beat the 1st man with his crosses must be at least a 100...that's the stat I'm interested in!!!!

He did, and he also played a hand in a quite a few other goals. I thought Malone would do well purely as a wing back but happy to see what jazz can do! And love seeing more welsh players in the squad.

So are our fans with Malone and I personally don't think he's as bad as people on here at making out although I agree he couldnt defend. And anyone remember a certain Jay Bothroyd who failed at the majority of clubs before coming to us.

Think Richards could be a decent singing, the jacks rated him just think he was unlucky they had a few top class full backs and he's versatile as well which is another bonus and if trolls is using the Wales system then he should be able to fit in.

Nonsense, it's purely a hatred because he was picked over Fabio and hes a fan favourite here.

His crossing? He had 4 assists and was third highest with assists for us, howler there.

He had one decent performance which was v Belgium and that was that.

Fulham have got the better deal, this guy hasn't been a first choice right back anywhere. :?

Spot on, people forget that because it's just a hatred because people love Fabio, I surely can't believe people genuinley believe it comes down to Malone's ability is why he was not appreciated here otherwise we have some blind fans about.

I want him to prove me wrong but he hasn't shown anything bar one performance for me.
