Russian 'ultras' have attacked English and Welsh fans in Lille this afternoon after 'hyper violent' thugs ignored UEFA's threat to ban their country from Euro 2016.

Chairs were thrown and a supporter was pictured lying on the ground outside a bar in the northern French city on the same day that Russia was fined and threatened with being thrown out of the tournament.

Concerns had already been raised about the security of fans as England prepare to take on Wales in Lens on Thursday and Russia play Slovakia in Lille on Wednesday, with the cities just 23 miles apart.

2018 will be a bloodbath. I know FIFA will probably hide behind it being too late to move the 2018 WC, but I honestly think something has to be done. The Russian government and authorities aren't even tacitly approving this behaviour, they're encouraging it.

I think it's hard to blame the French police, with everything that's going on with their current terror threat level.They've got enough on their plates without grown men going to a football event with only one intention. Also, levelling the blame at the police lets the actual guilty parties off the hook. The Russians have gone to France determined to cause trouble, and they've gone equipped. I'd ban them and their club teams from European competition for the foreseeable.

Hardly 'kicking off' are they, looks as though most of them are shitting themselves in the photos.

Violence flared in Lille tonight as Russian ultras attacked English and Welsh football fans ahead of their Euro 2016 clash.

Russia are set to play Slovakia in Lille tomorrow while England play Wales in nearby Lens on Thursday - with three-day booze bans now set to be enforced in each city.

A group of around four or five thugs wearing ‘Orel Butchers’ T-shirts tried to storm a bar where British supporters were drinking.

Eyewitnesses said the men said “We are Russians” before challenging fans outside the Taverne Flamande.

They accused French police of standing by as the thugs put gum shields in and donned masks before attacking the supporters.

Wales and England followers retaliated by throwing chairs at the men - who were allowed to leave without being arrested.

However a Russian journalist Max Allanazarov tweeted video of one England fan allegedly being arrested.


England fan Mark Crowe, 25, said: “Everyone was standing outside the bar having a good time, English and Welsh together.

“Then these guys walked up and started on us. They were Russian and wearing masks. The police did nothing.

“Admittedly the English threw a couple of chairs back at them, but if you are attacked you have to defend yourself.”

After the attack the British fans chanted: “F*** off Russians, we’re England and Wales.”

The Russian thugs were wearing ‘Orel Butchers - Storm over Europe 2016’ T-shirts.

Ultras wearing the same T-shirts were photographed attacking fans in Marseille.

The ‘Orel Butchers’ are a well-known Russian hooligan group, affiliated to Locomotiv Moscow.

French police have arrested 43 Russian fans suspected of being involved after stopping a bus in the Alpes-Maritimes region in the south of the country on Tuesday, according to local media reports.

It comes as armed French police circled a coach of 50 Russian supporters making their way to Lille today and said it will deport them - only for their thuggish fans to boast they had targeted the wrong group.

UEFA said Russia's 'disqualification is suspended until the end of the tournament. Such suspension will be lifted if incidents of a similar nature (crowd disturbances) happen inside the stadium at any of the remaining matches of the Russian team during the tournament.'
Dzyuba said: 'I don't understand the reaction of British media like the British supporters are like angels.
'We can see the things the British media are talking about, saying they have to take the World Cup from Russia.

'Fans are more or less the same everywhere. The majority come to watch football and some go to matches to cause trouble. I don't think only the Russian fans were to blame for the violence.'

I disagree, the English will always believe they are superior to the Welsh and it will be bitter when we win. I believe the Welsh fans should stay out of all this trouble and let the Russians and English get on with it.. After all we still have to play Russia in Toulouse and if we keep licking England's arse we are asking for trouble there!
