Queens Park Rangers Football Club (usually referred to as QPR) are a professional English football club in White City, London that play in The Championship, the second tier of English football. Their honours include winning the League Cup in 1967, being runners-up in the old First Division in 1975–76 and reaching the final of the FA Cup in 1982, where they lost 1–0 to Tottenham Hotspur in a replay after they drew 1–1 in the initial final match.

Queens Park Rangers were founded in 1886 after the merger of Christchurch Rangers and St. Judes Institute, and their traditional colours are blue and white. In the early years after the club's formation in their original home of Queen's Park, games were played at many different grounds until finally the club settled into their current location at Loftus Road. Owing to their proximity to other west London clubs, QPR maintain long-standing rivalries with several other clubs in the area. The most notable of these are Chelsea, Fulham and Brentford, with whom they contest what are known as West London Derbies. Outside London, QPR also traditionally share rivalries with Watford, Luton and Cardiff, although in recent years these fixtures have become less prominent.

“They spurred us on to victory – and to achieve our ultimate goal of promotion this season, we’re going to need them every step of the way.

“Season Ticket sales for next season have been extremely encouraging, with over 10,000 taken up during our first month of selling.

“However, it’s important that we reward the loyalty of our current Season Ticket holders and long-time fans, which is why we’ve put this offer in place. I look forward to seeing our fantastic stadium bouncing again for the visit of QPR.”

Cardiff City are hopeful that Anthony Pilkington will be fit to retake his place up front on Saturday.

The Bluebirds’ face QPR at the Cardiff City Stadium as they seek to get their play-off push back on track.

Pilkington missed the heartbreaking 2-1 defeat to Fulham after injuring his knee in an off the ball incident at Turf Moor four days previous.

Scans showed that there is no serious injury, but persistent swelling meant that he had to be replaced by Tom Lawrence in the striking role.

However, the club are hopeful that he will have had sufficient rest before the crunch clash with Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink’s men and can return to the starting XI.

James Perch looks set to miss QPR games against Cardiff, Brighton and Reading - the next three out of the last five.

The Rs full-back damaged his right thigh in the 2-1 win over Charlton on Saturday (see video), but carried on with strapping before finally giving in to the injury that made way for Cole Kpekawa.

It gave the Rs youngster a second Championship appearance off the bench, but the silver lining behind Perch's problem is Clint Hill is due back in training this week.

It hints at a back-four reshuffle that sees veteran Hill partnering Grant Hall in the centre to face the Bluebirds on Saturday, with Nedum Onuoha moving to right-back and Saturday's debutant Jack Robinson staying put on the other side of defence.

HASSELBAINK RETURNS TO FACE CARDIFF WITH RESURGENT QPR
APRIL 13, 2016 JAMIE KEMBLE

As former Bluebird Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink prepares to return to Cardiff as manager of QPR, we take a look back on his time in South Wales.

Hasselbaink has gone on to have a successful start in management, beginning with a spell at Dutch side Royal Antwerp before going on to have a successful promotion campaign with Burton Albion which secured him a job as QPR boss earlier this season.

The Chelsea legend has recovered Rangers’ season in many ways, inspiring them to what’s set to be a top-half finish despite the London-based club entertaining a poor start under former boss Chris Ramsay.

Hasselbaink enjoyed a fantastic career, playing for a range of clubs – from Chelsea to Atletico Madrid and even Cardiff City while also making 23 appearances for his country, Netherlands. The powerful striker managed a more than respectable 197 goals in 468 league games during his 18-year playing career which spanned from 1990 to 2008.

Jimmy Floyd’s time with the Bluebirds

It was hard to believe at the time but the legendary striker signed for Cardiff City in 2007 on a free transfer following a short spell with Charlton. Hasselbaink joined former internationals Trevor Sinclair and Robbie Fowler at Ninian Park as then manager of Cardiff Dave Jones made the most of the free agents available.

While fellow experienced striker Robbie Fowler may not have lived up to the billing due to injury, Hasselbaink did with a respectable 36 league appearances and he even managed seven-league goals in that time.

During his time with the Bluebirds, Hasselbaink managed to net a few fantastic goals and three in particular stood out as the years rolled back for the former Dutch international. An accurate strike from outside the box at home to Watford stands out but that was topped by a stunning effort on the road against West Brom in a 4-2 League Cup win.

The pick of the bunch, however, is a goal that stands out in every Cardiff City supporters’ mind from the last ten years or so. The goal arrived during the famous FA Cup run and it was a fifth round tie at home to Wolves. Hasselbaink rolled back the years with a classy step-over and followed it up with a driven strike into the top left stanchion.

During his time in South Wales, the former Leeds striker was hardly the goal-scoring machine he once was but in his defence he was 35-years-old. Despite his age, he played a vital role in Cardiff’s season with some superb hold-up play and some even better goals.

One thing’s for sure, Hasselbaink was a very worthwhile signing in 2007 and when he put pen-to-paper at Ninian Park, he certainly didn’t expect to be playing his final match as a player in an FA Cup final in front of a record Wembley crowd in excess of 89,000. Courtesy of Cardiff City it was a fine way to see out a fantastic career.

Should Stuart O'Keefe return?

By Phil Smith

Slade made the big call to give O'Keefe a rest at Fulham and was vindicated by a brilliant assist from Aron Gunarsson.

But O'Keefe was missed in the second half as Fulham began to take control of the game, and given his stunning form since being recalled in January, it would be a big shock not to see him recalled on Saturday.

So who would make way?

Joe Ralls was not at his best last weekend but has been a consistent performer all season.

Gunarsson, meanwhile, couldn't have done much more to prove his worth last weekend.

This will be a tough one for the manager but you have to think he must find a way to bring the former Palace midfielder back into the starting XI.

Recall Fabio?

By Phil Smith

14/04/16

The right-back's red card at Leeds could not have come at a worse time, just a week after that astonishing strike to give his team the lead against Middlesbrough.

The Brazilian has not featured since then, thanks mainly to the faultless showings of Lee Peltier in his absence.

The former Huddersfield man has been part of a defence that has performed impressively against some eye-catching forward lines, and would be well deserving of an extended run in the side.

But Fabio's dynamism and willingness to bomb forward could be more than useful in trying to break down the QPR defence.

It is a question of whether Slade trusts him enough not to make the kind of error that could cost his team.

The other alternative would be to bring him back on the left, a move that would sideline Scott Malone, who had a decent game in the capital last weekend.
