" A New Contract For Russell Slade? "

New contract?

Friday 4th March 2016

Russell Slade is asked if there’s a new contract on the table for him?

He says:

We are easy about that.
There’s no problem and we’ll sit down when the time is right.
There’s a nice trust between everybody. The chairman, the owner and the chief executive.

I think Russell Slade will get a new contract...

There isn't anyone else out there to take over?

Never been a fan of Russell Slade. But if he does manage to get us in the top 6 by the end of the season, he should get a new contract. :thumbright:

Well lets trust the Chairman and CEO and hope they see sense and do not renew his contract.

Please look at the bigger picture don't give another contract he is overachieving and hasn't got a clue :sladeout:

I don't think he will get a new contract, he would have it otherwise.

tend to agree. If they were planning to give him a contract i dont see why they would need to wait.

I'd wait till the end of the season.

But lets be honest, his mandate whilst managing the club was to reduce the clubs wage bill and ship out the high earners. Which thus far he has achieved to an extent.

At present, we have done well in the league so far, with some expecting us to be in the bottom half of the table as suppose to be fighting for the top 6 position, whilst also maintaining an unbeaten home record of 13 games, which is an achievement in itself.

At present the club have taken steps to move in the right direction and I am willing to give Slade a chance. Performances have started to improve and for the first time in a long time, there seems to be a real buzz in the club.

Regardless if your a Slade fan or not, the final third of the season will be crucial for our club. Just get behind the team and see where it takes us. :ayatollah:

Perfect for Vincent Tan, a manager who is too cowardly to ask for a new contract. No such thing as 'trust' in football.

'There's no problem and we'll sit down when the time is right.' err yeah, when Vincent Tan decides

Does Slade suffer from self-esteem issues? He has done a good job overall, he should not always allow himself to look so weak in front of the fans

I expect him to get a new contract , big mistake in my opinion. I have seen nothing to suggest he can get us back to the Premier League.

Luke, you would think so (no new contract) but one of the interesting parts of the OP was (quote): "There’s a nice trust between everybody. The chairman, the owner and the chief executive"

Correct me if I am wrong, but wasn't it reported somewhere on here that Dalman and Choo were no fans and wanted him out earlier this season when talking to City supporters? :?

Vincent Tan has yet to show his hand in the matter, but I can only assume (if the above is correct) that if they have any influence at all then Russell Slade will not get a new contract or (as often happens in business) Dalman and Choo are now backtracking to fall in-line with the boss's strategies and 'towing the party line' ;)

Looks like it depends where we finish this season

Re: " A New Contract For Russell Slade? "

Sorry i think it would be a mistake to offer him a new contract , the club are starting to listen to fans such as back to blue, season ticket pricing, Debt coming down etc and I honestly think we may just be turning the corner, I would like to think the process of finding a new manager who can take us forward as already started in time for the pre season / recruitment of new players :bluescarf:

Fair comment, I personally like a bit of arrogance/self-worth being displayed by a manager in the media, most of my favourite all time managers have this. :ayatollah:

Who will he blame if he dont get a new contract?

Himself imo, he is probably just about in a position now to force a decision to be made (in his favour) I don't think Slade is doing the right thing by allowing VT & the board to delay talks. I base this on (after watching Birmingham last night) Slade falling a few points short of play-offs.

Could be a master-stroke if he gets top 6. Ask for a pay rise :ayatollah:

The answer is in the answers he gives, the way I read Slade's answers are he will be given a new contract.

Take a look at the Vincent Tan Q&A session, he had nothing but praise for Slade and can't say I blame him given what Slade has achieved this season under the constraints of reducing wage bills, shipping out players, fighting (with a good chance of a top 6 finish) the list it endless.

IMO he undoubtedly will be given a new contract, win, loose or draw. Some would say he deserves one :sladein:

I dont know why but still unsure about slade, But in the circumstances players leaving, working on a tight budget he deserves some credit. Everytime we get a chance to push on into the top 6 we dont seem to get back to back wins and i firmly believe we have a top 6 squad but you have to earn that spot. Its frustrating

fair enough but Slade just talks in clichés and isn't guna give us that but if he gets the team putting in a shift then I don't think we should knock him too much for his personality.

Most fans feel the same, I don't think Birmingham have better players than us, but, they did a great job beating Hull last night and move a place above us. There are lingering doubts if he has truly has got the best out of the squad

well the initial quote 'i'm easy about it' or something along those lines, as a poster suggested could mean an agreement is already made in principle! You're right, it's easy to dissect what Slade has said and put a spin on it :ayatollah:

Exactly how I feel...he's done a reasonable job in very difficult circumstances...he's settled a sinking ship so he deserves credit for that

However, I have seen nothing tactically from him to suggest he would ever get us promoted

Mickey Mouse could have been Manager and brought down the wage bill and got us into the top six with the players we have.

If we don't reach the top 6 his position will be in doubt and several players will be courted by other clubs.

If he goes a quick decision on a new manager would avert players leaving, if he stays it will be another season of floating in the top half as if he can't get us into the top 6 this season nothing will suggest he can next either :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

Last report said the real Mickey Mouse was currently managing Newcastle and wearing a Steve McLaren mask! ;)
