nothing like pessimism to warm the heart! we are same place as before we started today so nothings changed , all fans are optimists thats the wonder of supporting your team?

No real chance since boxing day.

Teams do make a charge but letting your £35K a week striker leave early was never a good sign.

We need to set up for next year now.....Is not about loans, its about finding out which player has the minerals for a championship challenge next season.

For me its been about that since Jan so all the loans are pointless (and all my posts say that)

I wouldn't write it off yet.

After the last game of the season there will still be people coming on here and saying "We're still only 5 points outside the play-offs", "We 're still where we were at the start of play", "We just need to go on a run and we can make it".

The games are running out and we are making no headway and getting no closer to the top 6.

We will move a place or two up or down before the end of the season but we certainly won't make the play-offs.

It's a strange old league everyone will be buzzing when we go to boro and come home with 3 points, why not? We beat them at home.

Be honest, the reason why Tan allowed us to go under a transfer embargo was so he didn't have to back Slade to bring in the players he wanted in January. Tan's wreckless financial backing for Ole has put us in this position but Slade has more than done his bit offloading players to cut costs. The moment it looks like Slade may be able to finally bring in his own players, we hit a transfer embargo. Coincidence? I think not.

why would tan go through humiliation of embargo just to stop giving slade funds? he could simply tell slade no money available!! after all everyone knows we were cutting high earners and deadwood from playing staff? so no need for embargo route

I said at the start of the season when all the idiots on here were demanding promotion this season that we will finish in mid table obscurity. For what it's worth I feel Slade as exceeded my expectation on this as until around Christmas I thought we were in with a small chance of sneaking a play off spot.

Sadly I agree and it's not going to be any better next season either as your attendance's decrease and effects the playing budget.

I would have thought we are distinct outsiders but to say "we haven't got a cat in hells chance" is simply wrong, be it on a mathematical or football basis.

Do you think Huddersfield think they are certainties for 6th ? Or that Birmingham and Ipswich have completely given up on the play-off places

We're worse off than Huddersfield and Birmingham and better off than Ipswich. We have to play all three of them and those games will be pivotal.

Ultimately I think we will come up short, however there is no way we can totally rule it out at this stage.

Maybe if it comes down to the last game people, including me !, will start believing. That game ............. City v Birmingham !!!!!!

i still dont think we will make the top 6, thats not the point, some people have been adamant that we had zero chance, thought it was on this thread but must be somewhere else where someone suggested we may as well just play the kids for the rest of the season

its almost like some on here are willing us not to do well so they can be right, people were only saying we had no chance because they dont like the man in charge, rather than just looking at the table

One interesting stat for this time in the season.

We all know, through painful experience , how important momentum is so here is the form over the last 10 games for us and the teams around us:

Derby 9 points in 10 games - 57 in total
Sheff Wed 19 points in 10 games - 55 in total
Birmingham 18 points in 10 games - 54 in total
Cardiff 18 points in 10 games - 52 in total
Ipswich 14 points in 10 games - 51 in total

Not much to choose from us Sheff Wed and Brum and unless Derby turn around their form dramatically they could be dragged back into this battle and we still also have to play them at the CCS.

Next 3 games are massive, get between 6-9 points and the pressure will be on the others.
