Stuart O'Keefe

OK here's the elephant in the room...........Could we all be wrong (including Slade remember "squad player") about him ?

In our system its a 10/10 if you can keep your head above water as there is one hell of a lot of turf to cover with four attacking players in front of you, although all four are midfielders so do help out.

Is it 7 points out of nine with him starting ?

To quote Slade "I never saw this coming"

Did quite well with Palace in the premier league with the chances he got he just needed a run of games and hes now getting that and proving to be a good player so far. :thumbright: :ayatollah:

Not convinced by him, we've let far too much in through the middle. Not really sure what he does when he plays.

Always liked him as a player. Bit of a loose cannon but we've needed a player who will give his all for the cause for a quite a while and he seems to be relishing his chance in the starting 11

Tbf he's done more than most since coming into the fold, Ralls seems to be dropping of a bit latley

Never understood this signing. Looked decent when I've seen him. At a time of cut backs it seems pointless.

No I haven't, he might well be amazing away from home or on recent form. But from what I've seen of him at home or on sky games away he's not done anything.

He was superb at Wolves and very close to mom. And against Rotherham at home it was only pilkington imo that put in a better performance. Also again yesterday he was very consistent in passing, tackles, covering ground etc. But hey he's not a big name and not a fans favourite. ...so I've probably got it wrong

Re: Stuart O'Keefe

Depends what you want from a midfielder.

I like midfielders to be able to pass and be comfortable on the ball. Our passing accuracy was 59% yesterday. We keep giving the ball away like that and we will lose more than we will win.

think you will find he covers far more ground than any of our other players heard some talking at the game covers over 14klm every game :D always seem to be able to support the front boys may just be a coincidence but goals seem more often when he plays :bluebird:

He works hard. And the little flick pass for pilks 2nd goal last weekend was also sweet :ayatollah:

And our last game at home I thought he played well untill our team pretty much collectively dipped. The flick he set the goal up with was sublime!

He's earnt his starting place after the last few games for sure

according to the whoscored website, whitts pass % was 60 and O'Keefe was 72%

I rate him. Heard someone call him our Paul scholes because of the way he tackles but that's what you want from a tackling midfielder to break up play

Re: Stuart O'Keefe

He is someone who is better suited by the 5 man midfield. Whites seems to be benefitting from it too. :bluescarf:

no. But assuming that site is corrent O Keefe had the best % out of the team. I personally think Ralls performances have dipped recently, but then i dont know how either of the played Saturday as i wasnt there

He also makes the fewest passes of our midfielders. According to the same site O Keefe makes an average of 16 passes per game and Whitts 45.

O Keefe 0.3 key passes per game, Whitts 2.2.

This isnt even a debate the same site youve brought up lists O Keefe passing as a weakness.

Paul Scholes. Probably one of the most technically gifted players of the last 20 years. I dont think so.

Im not debating O Keefe v Whittingham. you mention the poor percentage in terms of passing on saturday of 59%, which is pretty shocking, in that game O'keefe percentage was higher than anyones

None of them were high though thats the point. When we play with O Keefe in the middle then obviously we are not going through him very much as his touches count is low. Hes in the team for his industry not his passing. Apart from Ameobi he got disposessed more than any of the other midfielders Saturday.

The last time Whitts played in the centre he was 81% and the whole team were 75%. Since Whitts got taken out of centre midfield we are usually around the 60-65% mark.
