UPDATED : :ayatollah: :bluebird:

Peter Whittingham scored his 86th goal for Cardiff City yesterday against Huddersfield Town in the Bluebirds 3-2 win and by doing so Whhitingham became the clubs joint 9th all time top goalscorer.

Whittingham scored two goals in yesterday's win, a tap in in the first half and a wonderful free kick that Cardiff City fans have become accustomed to from the mecurial midfielders left foot.

Being a midfielder makes Whittingham's goal scoring achievements somewhat remarkable and he joins an elite list of Bluebird scoring heroes from yesteryear.

The midfielder shares ninth position with Derek Tapscott and just one more goal would see Whittingham join Bluebird legend John Toshack and their FA Cup Final goal scoring hero Hughie Ferguson on 87 goals.

Looking at the top ten list it is conceivable that Whittingham will make the top five, if he scores another five goals and Could possibly even make the top three by scoring eight.

Cardiff City's All Time Top Scorers

1. Len Davies 148
2. Rob Earnshaw 109
3= Carl Dale 94
3= Jimmy Gill 94
5. Brian Clark 91
6. Peter King 89
7= Hughie Ferguson 87
7= John Toshack 87
9= Derek Tapscott 86
9= Peter Whittingham 86

Ha, great holiday last year matey, but doing a different kind of holiday this year, as we are on the ferry route to France, we are sailing over to Cherbourg, then driving to Munich, stopping here a couple of nights and the down to the Austrian Lake District, stopping in Vienna, Salzburg and then Luxembourg on route home too. Will be back in Majorca soon though. Take it easy, Carlos driving home?

Dont think its coincidence that whitts has had his 2 best games with ralls and o keefe as starters
o keefe today and at wolves was awesome

Should have had a hat-trick today.

Was very tentative when given two clear opportunities to score his third goal and looked very short of confidence.

The Whitts of four years ago would have volleyed his second clear chance rather than trying to bring the ball under control and have it run away from him.

Fantastic free kick though! :thumbup:

He just needed rested,same when malky was here and he played kim and mutch instead.
No shame in resting a player who is a bit below par. Whittingham is a cardiff city legend

It has mate but some people can't see the wood for the trees. They just moan about him being crap or he's lost it etc.
Rested, moved to a position that's suits him better and having some runners in front of him instead of a stationary target man.

About time too, he will always be a legend to me and becoming joint 9th club top scorer of all time is a fantastic effort and achievement and I don't think he is finished there. IMHO, I think he will end up our 3rd all time club top scorer by the time he retires. Well done Mr Whittingham, take a bow, a true legend. :thumbup:

First with his RIGHT foot! First time he's used it since that great League Cup Quarter Final away to Boro.

I think we'll see him break into the top 5, especially if he's getting played correctly!
