Then I hear professional football experts saying how good he is,and I think what the hell am I missing . But to be honest he's not very good . Don't get me started on Ameobi though, on premiership wages of maybe 50k and he's useless makes Mason look like Messi.

I've always rated him as a good player for this level but you are right, he's not a player who can grab the came by the scruff of the neck and win it. I think Saadi, when he finally gets some games together will out do him.

Mason shows good movement , possibly making space for others; however is poor holding up the ball, struggles winning anything in the air, has limited pace and goes down far too easily. Surely to goodness this was the sort of game for Ameobi to tear an opposition apart

Mason is rubbish. Slow, easily knocked off the ball rarely wins a challenge of any kind. Rarely looks for space, weak shot from distance. I don't think I've ever seen him win a header. Can't recall him setting up chances for others. Doesn't challenge or put defenders under pressure.

It's like playing with 10 men. If anyone offers anything for him. Bite their hand off. I really wonder if half the posters on here have ever kicked a ball in their life. He is a defender's dream. Give him space, let bim gave the ball, take it off him. Get shot.

best signing we never made?... Watt!. 2 game wonder. looked good and then revealed himself for what is is...very average.

Pilkington did all the running up front creating options. Peltier in particular was hitting long channel balls which Pilkington was running onto with his side to side movement.

I had forgotten Mason was on the pitch until a rare occasion when the ball got played to his chest and well...he must have had springs in his chest as the ball bounced about 40 yards away!

A neutral must have thought Pilkington was the out and out striker and Mason was out of position not familiar with his role. What a contrast in performances!

Me too. I'd be happy to see him line up against us as it should make a comfortable 90 minutes for our defenders. Don't rate him at all, and he can trap a ball further than I can kick it.

Who said Watt was "the best signing. never made" ? He's just a decent Championship striker.

That just demonstrates further that Mason is nowhere near a Championship striker !!
