We dominated the game from start to finish, but our strikers let us down. Tonight showed without Tony Watt and until Saadi returns, we are going to struggle to score goals. I doubt any team has dominated Shrewsbury this season like we did tonight, including Chesterfield who put 7 goals past them last week.
Until Tan backs Slade to bring in a striker who can do something Revell and Macheda failed to do tonight, convert a simple one on one, we will continually fail to produce the results our play deserves. There was nothing wrong with our performance tonight, we were many, many levels above Shrewsbury and it's the most one sided 1-0 defeat I have ever seen.
We have offloaded Kenwyne and Slade has more than done his bit offloading players this season to cut the budget. Tan needs to stop the cost cutting, stop expecting Slade to work miracles and allow Slade to bring in a goal scorer asap. We outplayed Birmingham and MK Dons recently and lost both games because we are short of goal scorers. A goal scorer should without doubt be our number 1 priority after tonight.

I thought it was clear that we would be bringing in a striker anyway

Well that Weghorst transfer was the most confusing saga ever. The player said Slade wanted him but Tan didn't want him. Is Tan going to ever stop interfering and allow Slade to bring in the striker he wants? Obviously not with this ridiculous transfer committee set up.

A striker that can score goals? If Tony Watt played tonight, he would have bagged a hat trick.

Dominate is not exactly the word I would use.

No.

stop it, you are killing me

The club are making statements that the fans need to hear. Heard it all before. If we bring a striker in, you can bet it will be a budget striker who won't make a massive difference to the team.

Agree, with him not having much game time before joining us and Charlton out of the cup yesterday I'd have thought Watt would have played some part.

Priority should be a new manager then a striker

We can't hit a barn door need a couple of strikers but I think we've needed them for the last 3 years

Need a new manager.

I d8nt care about the "stats". We emphatically did not dominate that game. Shrewsbury cut through our midfield like a knife through butter and easily played the better football.

Don't let this tw*t buy one more player for this club, his transfer dealings are a joke!
Sun Jan 10, 2016 8:28 pm
Watt has wasted far easier chances lately than the one on one Macheda missed tonight's. He was unlucky the keeper was quick to close him down. Watt for all his running at players is not clinical either.
Sun Jan 10, 2016 8:32 pm
So frustrating after having players like Bellamy, Helgurson Chopra, Bothroyd, McCormack, Earnie and the rest, watching these lot is hard work !!!
Watt excluded, he Is half decent .....
Sun Jan 10, 2016 8:33 pm
Watt will be Jones replacement.... We need someone to go.
I hope Tan doesn't give Slade a penny after the Watt deal is done.
We have
Mason
Revell
Macheda
Saadi
Watt
on loan
Alf
Doyle
Healy
Why do we need any more

Because out of all of those, only Tony Watt has proven he has the attitude, work rate and goal threat to deserve to be at our club. Hopefully, Saadi will also prove to be good for us, but all the others apart from Healy (he's still a kid) have proven they are not good enough to consistently perform at Championship level.

Nomatter how much money I had I would not trust Slade with a penny to invest on players. I suspect that he had more of his signings playing today than any team he has selected since he joined us. That says it all.

Correct. Including Ameobi 5 of them started and 3 of them - O Keefe, Revell and Tamas - were the worst players on the pitch closely followed by Digi.
Sun Jan 10, 2016 9:13 pm
All this bullshit about signing players in the window is just smoke and mirrors.
Tan said that he would back Slade in the summer and there were precisely f**k all players who were signed except for the Ventolin Kid on loan.
Get this into your head people - the cutbacks mean that there will be NO players signed in January. Tan is trying to get as much money back as he can and it could not be more obvious that he does not give a flying f**k about the club any more.
We may sign Watt and get some other striker who won't score, using some of the money saved from Kenwyne's wages but Slade was told that we had enough midfielders when he wanted to sign someone in the summer and that situation has not changed - all of those average midfielders are still at the club.
Tan ain't spending shit so we'd best get used to the same players playing the same turgid football led by an unispiring manager.
The sooner we start again the better.

its piss poor football. and you get some bright spark saying, where are the crowds

If I'm being Honest I don't think bringing in a striker will be the end of our problems, I think our problem is we are rotten from the top to the bottom there is a lot of dead wood in our club starting from Tan down

Ronaldo would struggle to score goals with O Keefe and Digi in midfield ffs. What sort of combination was that?? Rubbish.
Sun Jan 10, 2016 9:34 pm
Says it all 26 shots only 7 on target. Have you ever seen them taking shots before a game? It's a good job they put that netting up behind the practice goal as there would be many fans off to A&E before the game starts.

We are both massive Whitts appreciators, but why try him on the left yet again !!!! We played much better when Digi went off and Whitts moved inside, but thats not his position in this set up on that pitch.
