He scored 4 goals for city out on short loan to Hull and scored 5 goals

Had he scored that goal he may of been a legend today

IMO the missed goal and publicity from football public may of ruined is football career any how he's long gone now

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Highly rated centre back signed on loan from Cardiff City to help shore up City's Championship defence. Anthony is a cousin of DJ-punching England star Steven Gerrard, starting his career at Everton (from where he had a brief loan spell at non-league Accrington Stanley) and made his name at Walsall before a successful season in the Cardiff first team that culminated in play-off failure at the hands of Blackpool. After his spell at City he returned to Cardiff, gained notoriety for missing the key penalty in the 2012 League Cup final against cousin Stevie's Liverpool, then joined Huddersfield in August 2012 where he found a regular start once more for two seasons before falling out of favour and spending a loan spell at Oldham.

He never impressed me defensively half the time and he was responsible for Liverpools 2nd goal with a pathetic clearence into Dirk Kuyt his attitude most of all I didn't like he had an overinflated opinion of himself.

Liverpool v Cardiff: Anthony Gerrard says Carling Cup penalty miss 'will haunt me forever'

Cardiff City's Anthony Gerrard says agony of his Wembley penalty miss will haunt him for the rest of his career.

Agony: Anthony Gerrard is consoled by his cousin Steven following his penalty

Always remember when Chopra equalised against the Jacks he ran straight past city players celebrating the goal towards the Jack fans rubbing his eyes mocking them. That was quality :ayatollah:

Welsh league standard if it was'nt for his name. Change his name to Jones and he would'nt have progressed much beyond Tongwynlais seconds. Absolute crap.

There really are some pathetic attitudes on this board sometimes, the guy was destroyed after missing that penalty, I have friends of friends of his in Liverpool and he has never got over that miss. His problem was that he was linked/compared to his cousin and as a footballer, he's not fit to lace his boots, yet I think sometimes he believed he was and made costly mistakes because of it.

Re: ' Anthony Gerrard '

I think he was a tidy player, but he has fallen out with every single manager he's played under, so his attitude can't be right. Also, remember his fight on the field with Marshall at Forest? He should never have been allowed to take that penalty, as a life-long Liverpool fan.

Somebodys cousin

Re: ' Anthony Gerrard '

Sat Jan 09, 2016 12:13 pm

I always thought he was a half decent player who was a bit too big for his boots. What annoys me though is the fact that 3 of our players that day missed penalties and Gerrard's name is only the one that is brought up. Kenny Miller had the chance to win the game in normal time and he had the chance to put us 1 up after Steven Gerrard missed his penalty, but that tends to be forgotten.

Re: ' Anthony Gerrard '

I also thought he was a decent bloke and it seemed he enjoyed his time with us.
Spoke to him a few times down the vale and he was very down to earth.
I remember when he ran to the gypos and that classic. Also remember when he scored a goal when the players were wearing armbands for Mickey Dye. He was very respectful of that.

And im sure he wasnt pleased about missing that bloody penalty!

Don't think he missed it on purpose, but psychologically ,not a good idea even if he did volunteer.
