" CARDIFF SET TO BUY MIDFIELDER IN JAN "

Mon Dec 28, 2015 10:51 am

As posted on here last week

Cardiff City are set to buy Bolton Wanderers midfielder Josh Vela for £450,000 in January.

28/12/2015

The Bolton News reports Russell Slade has tracked the 22-year-old - who has been at the club since he was nine - for the past 12 months and is ready to make a move.

"There has been an enquiry from Cardiff on Josh but whether that is confirmed or goes through, I don’t know yet," manager Neil Lennon told The Boston News.

And Lennon admitted that the sale would be purely down to the financial situation at the club. Bolton could be forced to sell more young players in the January transfer window.

Vela sat out Bolton's match against Fulham, but this was reportedly due to fitness reasons.

This guy embarks on his 3rd transfer window... And each and every time someone uploads YouTube footage on how great his signings are then slabs him off and the player when they turn out to be a journey man or out of their depth at this level. How many has he brought in and sent out and 90% of the time reverts back to Malkys or OGS signings? We are treading water, these players are without doubt are able to perform at a much higher level. How many more times do we have to see Slade with arms crossed in the technical area. Why is this lad going to be our star player, who is he going to replace??? A change of Manager and a more experienced coaching team is surly top of the agenda than this lad from Bolton

He looks like a younger Gunnarson so far in this game

I'm watching him now for Bolton v Blackpool and he's no better than the several players we already have in his position.

We don't need another sitting midfielder ffffffs!!!

Totally agree, does emphasise the point that, with one or two rare exceptions, that Slade is not able to pick a player that will enhance our team

done very little 1st half. think mark davies and clough look the better players at Bolton. possibly even Pratley thw ex jack. still only 30

Agree with the above. Ordinary.. Not much movement in him is there? Several times he had the opportunity to make space, but he just stood there waiting.. If he is coming someone must be going..

We either need to buy pace or a midfield general and Vela is neither of them

We sold quite a few of the players MM bought for what we paid didn't we? Apart from the infamous flop he didn't do too bad.

I never. I wasn't even posting on here when we signed him. It was about time he got one right mind. Even a blind man will eventually hit the bullseye given enough darts.

Did you just watch the Bolton game Wez? If so what do you think Vela will bring to the team that we don't already have?

People keep excusing Slade because he didn't have the money Malky or Ole had but he still has a better quality squad than Jones started with even after all the cuts and what budget he has had he's wasted 80/90% of it with players he doesn't play and donkeys like Revell and O Keefe. Doyle's the only player he's paid a substantial fee for and he was sent packing next window!!!

Dave Jones had to shop in the bargain basement and he unearthed gems like Chopra first time around, Whitts, Bothroyd, McCormack, Johnson, Loovens, Superkev, Marshall.

If Slades is staying I hope we sign no one except Watt so whoever takes over from the dope in the summer doesn't have to get rid of Slades mediocre and piss poor signings.

I think label josh vela a young aron gunnarson is a little bit unreflective of the type of player josh vela actually is or to label him a piss poor version of joe ralls which is a bit unfair on the lad. For one I think Josh Vela a better all round passer of the ball than both ralls and gunnarson. He is also a very well disciplined for a 22 year old footballer which joe ralls and gunnarson both sometimes lack. This is when ralls and gunnarson don't stick to their postions at certain times when needed and don't pick up their man especially in the last 10 minutes of games where we often end up conceding a late goal. I do however think gunnarson and ralls are both better players going forward in midfield. I think its more repersentaitve to compare vela to a Dikagcoi as they are both no6 players. The reason why Dikagcoi don't play because he lacks the energy to play in a 2 man midfield not because he is injured, for me Josh vela has that energy to play in 2 man midfield. For those doubting Vela's ability this is a player that has been scouted by Liverpool since he was 17 years old and they have made 2 bids at different stages of his career which were rejected which I don't belive Ralls has never had the luxuary of being courted by a big club before. Also to those who say Vela cant be any good because he plays for bottom of the championship Bolton, didn't ralls play for bottom of the championship Yeovil just 2 seasons ago? For me 450k for vela is a bargain signing and no doubt will slade try to offload dikagcoi in January although it may be difficult to do so. And I could definitely see Joe Ralls and Josh Vela as our 2 man midfield with whits and gunnarson on the bench and okeefe in researves. If the deal do go through judge him on his performences for us he could be good he could be a flop but he definitly has the potential to be a established premier league player that's for sure. Just please no one say that Adeyemi is a better player josh vela or I will faceplant the keyboard. :bluescarf:

Re: " CARDIFF SET TO BUY MIDFIELDER IN JAN "

Tom Adeyemi is a better player! Vela has a much lower pass average than Ralls, and about the same as Gunnar.
All stats put him behind anyone we already have. His biggest failure is being to static. He dosent challenge for space when he get the chance, he dosent make himself available in play other than chase balls like a dog with a bone. And he dosent even do that well. Complete waste, unless Slade is continuing selling our better players and replacing them with the less gifted cheap options. In that case i wonder why he is going on about play ofs..
