My View/Opinion

" JUST NOT GOOD ENOUGH TONIGHT IN OUR FINISHING "

Our final ball was what let us down tonight.

Back to Slades boring football tonight against a team that for me were just as bad.

Birmingham City 1 Cardiff City 0

Crowd 14,414

Away 655 City fans

Marshall; Peltier, Connolly, Morrison, Malone; Pilkington, Gunnarsson, Ralls, Ameobi; Watt, Jones

Subs: Moore, Manga, Fabio, Whittingham, O'Keefe, Noone, Mason

Cardiff went in to this game on the back of a 3-2 win v Brentford in midweek and undefeated in their last 4 games, whilst Birmingham have not won for 5 games and their home record recently has been awful, plus Brum have won only 1 of the last 9 games and have failed to score in 6 , could this be another 3pts for the Bluebirds?

With in 10 mins Morrison was taken off after a crunch tackle and replaced by Manga.

Both teams were even stevens for the first 25mins.
City started to take control and then Brum broke away and Marshalll saved to only drop the ball and Connolly supposedly handballed for Brum to score from a penalty in the 45th min

Half-time Brum 1 City 0

5 mins in Marshall pulled of a great save :ayatollah:

City made quite a few chances, but our finishing was awful at times.

Slade did a double subs Pilkinghton and Gunnarson on for Whittingham and Noone.

City did go forward and create a couple of good chances, but so did Birmingham.

FULL-TIME BRUM 1 CCFC 0

In my opinion not a good performance by Cardiff tonight.

My man of the match Malone :thumbright:

Up next Milton Keynes away on Boxing day :thumbright:

It is relevant as BRUM have been worse than awful at home and we lost to them, we just did not do enough

Annis,

Birmingham were shocking and we were little better!

What are they doing at training week in week out, we looked tired and KJ, well if he is on 35k a week then it's a disgrace.

Far to many prima donners in that side.

Mourinho just sacked for losing the dressing room, RS has never had it.

His school report, lacks enthusiasm, leadership and can never do better.

Safe trip :sladeout:

Awful decision for the penalty Annis. But we can't use that as an excuse. We didn't deserve to win the game, perhaps unlucky to lose though.

Need to get back to winning ways and play better at MK Dons on Boxing Day.

Ameobi is nowhere near good enough.

Tony Watt MOTM for me.

Not relevent because if the tref wasnt blind we would be talking about a 0 0 draw where we just didnt do enough in the final third

But then we could all agree that the draw is a decent enough result

But they would not have won if the ref hadn't given them a penalty which clearly wasn't. Also, on many occasions the ball didn't quite run for us. Not a great performance but we were the better team and with a bit of luck would have won the game.

We were worth a point mate, a decision cost us though they should have had a penalty early doors. Would rather lose to a penalty that was than wasn't.

I actually thought we played OK but our finishing and final ball were woeful. A draw would have been a fair result but why on earth didn't the linesman or fourth official tell the ref he got it wrong?

They did at half time :digging2:

For sure it was a terrible penalty decision but we lacked real quality where it matters.Thought the subs should have come on earlier and Kenwyne was never at the races today.Watt looked dangerous and never gave up.
Our squad is not as good as some people think.

Football is all about opinions but I honestly thought the game management in that second half was appalling. Again, you have to question the subs. Plain as day Ameobi should have made way well before the time the subs were made but then to take Pilkington off was laughable. Jones had a shocker and overall I felt Slade failed to adapt tactically which is a common criticism of his approach. That said it was unlucky but think the penalty decision that will be focused on masks over the real issues in getting the best out of that squad of players. On paper, with the right management that squad is capable of top 6 but in my opinion will end up mid table.

Onto the next one!

Re: MY VIEW " JUST NOT GOOD ENOUGH TONIGHT IN OUR "

Fri Dec 18, 2015 10:12 pm

We were lacklustre tonight Ameobi and Jones can f**k off and as soon as the non penalty was given I knew the game was lost as tactically we were wrong and the changes to put Ameobi for Noone was wrong and Jones I'm glad he is going Watt Motm.

Re: MY VIEW " JUST NOT GOOD ENOUGH TONIGHT IN OUR "

That was my 8th away game this season so I think I have enough brownie points for an opinion. We played OK just no finish. Poor, poor penalty decision. 2 average teams on the night. A point would have been OK. Whatever people think, ref decided otherwise. One of our better away performances/overall! Maybe that sums it up

A dire performance as far as I'm concerned . Not a fan of RS but there comes a time when professional players need to look in the mirror . Our movement was sluggish & the final ball was dire , in short the desire shown by too many of those players was simply not good enough #TANOUT

Who knows?

But we can only blame ourselves tonight as our end product was not good enough, Rem Brums record is awful at home and other ordinary teams manage to win there. We showed tonight once again we are not a promotion team

I agree Annis, like you say not good enough.

Skip to 1.25 on this video for the penalty decision.

Re: MY VIEW " JUST NOT GOOD ENOUGH TONIGHT IN OUR "

A huge mistake by the referee to award a penalty when the ball clearly hit Connolly in the face but Brum should have had a penalty in the first 5 minutes when Peltier rugby tackled one of thier players.

Blaming the referee only serves to paper over the cracks of what was a poor performance against a very poor team but under RS we have been here before and no doubt will again, probably on boxing day.

RS has said in his after match interview that it was "A very strong performance" Well he can f**k right off in my opinion because any show of strength and we would have won that game.

MK Dons is now a must win game but Mr 70's manager will send out a team in his one and only 442 formation and pretty much anything will happen. But make no mistake we are dropping off where we need to be at the halfway stage of the season if we are serious about finishing in the playoffs.

Re: MY VIEW " JUST NOT GOOD ENOUGH TONIGHT IN OUR "

I thought generally we played very well and deserved to win the game. The defence and central midfield were particularly good but the finishing was dire. Watt deservedly man of the match but KJ was on some sunny beach somewhere other than Birmingham. Never a penalty, disgraceful decision. Slade didn't deserve that.
