I think that is a ludicrous amount of money when you consider how relatively little we have spent on transfer fees in the same period.
Below is the list of players I can recall we have signed during the time frame that relate to the agent fees costs.
Sammy Ameobi - Loan
Gabriel Tamas - Unattached
Semi Ajayi - Free
Idriss Saadi - Undisclosed
Marco Weymans - Nominal
Jordan Blaise - Free
Scott Malone - £100k
Alex Revell - £175k
Lee Peltier - £100k
Stuart O'Keefe - Undisclosed
Eoin Doyle - £750k
Matthew Kennedy - Undisclosed
Conor McAleny - Loan
Just adding up the known transfer fees above takes our spending to just over £1.1m and with the 3 undisclosed and the 1 nominal I would quite confidently argue that we have paid somewhere in the region of £1.5m for all the players that have cost us a transfer fee.
So to spend more than £2.8m on agents fees for players that approximately total £1.5m in transfer fees is absurd no matter what side of the debate you find yourself.
Shocking fees to spend for a club and owner that has publicly slammed the fees that agents have made from this club in previous seasons.

In with the fees to agents are on going contract payments for the whole squad also any contract renewals extension etc without the breakdown we wouldn't know how much of the payments are down to the transfers

This will also include fees for actively getting rid of players.

it depends if the spending now is on the contacts that malky/ole signed off on without the breakdown we will never know can't see the fees being that much on most of slades signingscarlccfc wrote:In the year Oct 2012 to Sept 2013 that included our spending in the summer transfer window when we were promoted to the Premier League Cardiff City spent £2.25m on agent fees.

Guess Malky weren't as bad as Tan suggested with agents during that time

Simon Lim released a statement on Feb 13th 2014, claiming how well City were now doing in the transfer market thanks to Ole and the transparent, professional and prudent way the club was being run.

Very interesting Wez, indeed.
An agent can only be remunerated by one party. An agent will in most cases negotiate a fee with the buying club.
Blows yours and Allan's argument to bits that we paid agent fees for outgoing players !!!

When the agent fees after Malky was sacked, and Tan was on a one man mission, were announced for our one season in the Premier League as costing the club £2.25m I remember certain posters on here claiming how ridiculous an amount it was.
Yet the club is run better since Malky was sacked, we are told.
Doesn't quite seem like they got the costs under control, in fact they have got worse when it comes to agent fees.
And regards Guerra, didn't Tan personally do the deal that brought the Spaniard to the club ?
I do believe this is what Tan claimed.
So if there was massive agent fees involving that transfer, who gets the blame for that one?
Wake up Allan and stop clutching at straws, you are not doing yourself any favours at all.

I think this bit about agents being paid in instalments is probably the key thing here..
I can't see the signings in the last few months coming to more than a couple of hundred thousand.
The rest must surely be linked to previous signings. I would bet any signing made with a staged payment would also have a staged agent payment.
Also all these players sold when they were part through their contract would trigger any deferred agent payment to be cleared up before they left.
As with any story, it's the detail that's behind it that hides the truth.
I'm just hoping that there's not another £2m to pay this year !
Chance to ask Slade tomorrow
