" ANOTHER CARDIFF CITY PLAYER TO LEAVE??? "

Sun Nov 15, 2015 9:16 pm

Former Coventry City favourite Ben Turner is set for an exciting return to the club where he made his name.

15/11/2015

The Telegraph understands that the 27-year-old centre-back has been lined up as a short-term replacement for Reda Johnson and is due to report to Ryton this week to join in training ahead of Saturday’s top-of-the-table clash with Gillingham at the Ricoh Arena.

Turner, who the Sky Blues sold to Cardiff City for £750,000 in 2011, is back in action after several months recovering from ankle reconstruction surgery.

City boss Tony Mowbray admitted recently that the club’s Academy graduate was a name he had considered but there were question marks over whether he was ready for first-team football. After coming through an hour for the Bluebirds’ Under-21s last Monday and getting through 75 minutes against QPR on Friday night, however, it appears the strapping defender is looking to step up his rehabilitation.

It’s understood that Mowbray has had a number of conversations with Cardiff manager Russell Slade who, with his current back four having kept five clean sheets out of their last six Championship matches, is happy to let Turner out on loan to get him back up to full fitness.

i think that is a good move, he needs a run of interrupted games after so many injuries, bound to be rusty as he is a big unit

Only problem is Morrison, Connolly and Tamas are our only CBS now

good point, I guess we will see how much trust Slade has in Tamas soon enough. I am sure Big Ben can be recalled if necessary

Re: Ben Turner to Coventry

what is the point on Tamas if he never gets to play a game!

This was knocking around a week or so ago.

I really can't see Turner going to L1

Why has this headline been changed ?
Turner hasn't left .
This is just speculation from the Coventry Telegraph !

I can see this become a permanent move.

I agree, he's on loan and I think makes total sense as long as he can be recalled. He gets criticised for his distribution but defenders are there to defend and that he is excellent at both in premiership and championship, def not L1

Is the heading right ? Is he a key player ?

Vincent putting the pressure on to cut the squad down again?

Probably trying to get the squad numbers down to 11 or less to save money.

He's not even on loan yet, it's just speculation from their equivalent of the Echo !

Just like all the shit they've fed is over the years !

Just like that Uruguayan bloke a few seasons ago, I doubt that we'll ever see him.

Slade not a great believer in playing youngsters.

I had it at 'Ben Turner to Coventry' with no promise of the move actually happening, think the mods should ask permission first etc. Ben Turner is far from key at the moment too, not featured for sometime in a City shirt. Key would be Marshall, Ralls, Fabio or Jones etc

Why sign them in the first place then? Can't he spot a decent player?

I feel at the moment the club is in a content permission. Near the promotion spots but not there just yet. Don't understand why this weekend was the weekend to have a ton of topics with a negative spin on them

His contract expires come the end of the summer too. I think we won't see him in a City shirt ever again

Despite having 16 players out on loan we still have 25 Senior players on our books! How many has Slade got rid of permanently?? :sladeout:

The answer is none. We had young players for extra cover, instead we bring in tamas who hasn't kicked a ball in ages and the youngsters get nowhere near the bench
