Vince Alm Sets a Challenge to All those who Complain about

Vince Alm

To all you top banana managers out there who complain about Slade signings I set you a challenge below.
Name 5 players you could bring in on a free transfer who will accept average championship wages between 5-8 grand a week and improve the team?

Recall Doyle from his loan and/or Le Fondre.

Use the players we already have more effectively. Consider getting some training on football managerial skills and effective tactics that are not just restricted to 4-4-2 formations.

Why not ask us a different question like =how many of slades many many signings have improved the team!!

Good and relevant response in my view

And also spend some time with the academy and development team so that all the local talent isn't picked up by the Jacks instead.

anybody with any nous about themselves knows the squad is good enough at this level. Tactics, team selection, flexibility, man management is what makes the difference between teams who go up and those who don't - simple really :sladeout:

Le Fondre came here for Ole and the pay packet only really. He's admitted himself he should have done better here, not doing much better at Wolves either.

Not easy , but maybe a couple of options that would improve our strikeforce.

Alan Armstrong (Newcastle - on loan at Coventry).
Tom Bradshaw (Walsall) - swap deal involving Ben Turner?

There must be others out there (especially young gifted midfielders) who could be acquired on loan from Premier clubs , but does the manager have the contacts at that level? One young midfielder who I think has just come back from injury is George Williams of Fulham - looked good enough when he has played for Wales.

It is meant to be a balanced comment rather than a snipe at the manager but I really don`t think , as an individual , he is an attraction to such young players (and their parent clubs) to come here on loan and develop whilst at the same time improving our team. Other Championship clubs have done it , why can`t we?

On a more contentious note , if CCFC were to get a big fee for David Marshall (in my view the best keeper in the division ) in January , could they not spend at least some of the money freed up from the transfer fee and wage savings to bring in a few of such youngsters to improve us in midfield and up front. If we were better than the current poor quality offering at that end of the pitch then maybe the opposition would spend more time worrying about us and have less time to trouble our defence with less shots for an adequate goalkeeper replacement to have to save.

Just thought of a few that went out on loan from Premier clubs to the Championship and greatly improved the club they went to , at the same time becoming better players themselves. And in areas of the team where we are particularly weak.

Patrick Bamford - Chelsea to Middlesbrough and MK Dons
Ryan Mason - Spurs to Swindon
Alex Pritchard - Spurs to Brentford.

There must be other examples as well. Why can they not be attracted to Cardiff City?
a) Did we not know they were available (we don`t have people with the right football contacts at the club)
b) Their parent clubs didn`t think they would develop as players with us (do they rate our manager and coaches?)
c) Their wage demands were too high (I can`t imagine either Swindon or Brentford being able to afford much)?

Wasn`t attracted by the manager though was he? Took an intervention by the Chairman (and some more money) to get him to come here rather than go to Wolves.

what for free, you're aving a larf, Slade gets a 6 figure salary a year, why should we do his job for him :laughing6:

The problem is that Slades sign have either got roots coming out of their arses, or they have been moved on - says it all really!

I can't remember any player coming just because he wanted to play for our manager except Ole but luckily we paid through the nose anyway.......

Wonder if Tommy OSullivan went to county because of Sheridan

Re: Vince Alm Sets a Challenge to All those who Complain abo

If there are not FIVE PLAYERS in the Welsh League who could step up to the mark, I would be amazed.

We should be paying at least one scout to look out for players from the Welsh League.

There must be some who would relish the chance to play for us, at the lower end of the wage level.

It is shocking that, as the team that represents that capital of Wales, and as one of only three Welsh teams in the league system, we are currently fielding ZERO Welsh players.

I will not hear about people who say there are not enough quality players from Wales.

Tell me how many English players there are playing in the leagues? If there are an average of, say, 3 English players for every team in all the leagues, that's a total of around 250 English players (I would imagine the number is much higher, especially including squad players).

So why are the ONLY 3 Welsh clubs in the leagues only fielding 4-5 Welsh players in total?

It is shocking that as Wales prepares for Euro 2016 as the 9th best team in the World, Cardiff does not have a single currently serving player that will be going to represent Wales.

I agree with SWilliams' reply to this...
Anyway, we don't even need to sign anyone on a free transfer... We have more than enough quality in our ranks.

1) Recall Le Fondre
2) Recall Doyle
3) Recall O'Sullivan
4) Recall Harris
5) ACTUALLY PLAY the likes of Kennedy & John.

Why would we add extra wages to our ranks? If need be we could sell Le Fondre and use his wages to bring in a player who would accept his wages :thumbright:

Apart from ccfcsince62, not one of you have even attempted to answer Vince's question. It's not easy is it and these are the constraints Slade has to work with. Always amusing when the majority of you slag Slade off at will and criticise his signings, but when asked to put forward some potential signings yourselves under the constraints Slade has had to work with, you have no ideas!

To answer Vince's question, I have no idea what free transfers would be available on wages of 5-8k a week at the moment. There will be contracts running out in America and Eastern Europe as their seasons end during the winter, but we don't have the required scouting network to judge those players. My number one target would be Alex Pritchard on loan. He was brilliant for Brentford last season, he's got so much quality and he would give us the creativity we are missing.

Apart from Pritchard, I can't think of any realistic players we can go for who can improve our squad under the contraints Tan has put on Slade. Unfortunately, Tan has made it clear to Slade that despite offloading 15 players already this season, Slade is still expected to clear out even more players before he can bring someone new in. This gives Slade a thankless task in putting together a squad with the required strength in depth necessary to consistently perform and challenge this season. Sadly, the majority of our unrealistic, overly demanding, unreasonable fans will blame Slade, when the reality is Tan hasn't given Slade a chance.

I also presume Slade has been told that he must stick with the current coaching staff. Trollope is a proven good coach. Margetson is also OK , but with goalkeepers not in his current role with defenders. In my opinion Scott Young is about as much use in his role of coaching the forwards as a chocolate fireguard. Yet , from what I have witnessed sitting just behind the home dugout at matches , it is Margetson and Young who are left to give most of the touchline "advice" to players during a game.

The question is crass.

Slade and Trollop are football management.

We are fans who have no idea of how the system works.

To pose a question as to which players City should get in is just embarrassing and naïve.
