CITYS HOME CROWDS THIS SEASON viewtopic.php?f=2&t=142949

Cardiff City v Reading last Saturday was the biggest crowd 15,414, since the opening days home crowd :ayatollah:

The crowd of 15,414

Included 1,400 Reading Fans

Included 700 Free Kids tickets, which approx 200 never attended

Of the near 10,000 season ticket holders approx 2,000 never turned up

So approx less than 12,000 City fans actually attended.

My Opinion they are not returning yet, but I say continue with the FREE tickets for kids all season as we have nothing to lose with a 33,000 capacity.
And next season any where in the ground Under 16's £50 please

I would agree with you, still camouflaging the problem of why people are not turning up.

IMO

1. People don't like RS or can't relate to him!
2. Team style and tactics don't inspire one to watch it.
3. I appreciate cost cutting but bringing players in that are not good enough only then to see them go out on loan lacks
ambition.
4. Finally COST is a big factor for a lot.

The Club are playing at it and even though we appear to be doing well, most people get the feeling we are skating on thin ice :ayatollah:

No of coarse it isn't. Take away Readings support. Then you get an average of what we have been getting.

Re: " ARE CARDIFF CITY'S CROWDS FINALLY RETURNING? "

Crowds will not return for many reasons:

1) Back in the Championship, no Premier League football.
2) "Boring" football under Slade (despite having an 'okay' start).
3) Not spending millions, poorer quality of players.
4) Fed up of Vincent Tan.

Sell-out crowds will come back if we're in the Premier League, no doubt about that. Saddens me to say that.

I'll support Cardiff City through thick and thin. :thumbright:

That was my argument when people complained about our home attendances, away support generally low and other teams dont travel as far to games so boosting home crowds for our rivals very false position, doesnt hide fact low crowds we have but perspective is needed as to why.

Little things that will help bring back the crowds
1/ Bring in an upcoming manager with charisma and a positive attitude towards football that can work well with youngsters coming through the ranks.
2/ For the club to stop treating the fans like utter shite in the stadium when they treat the away fans like kings.
3/ To stop the ongoing stradedgy of destroying the atmosphere within the stadium.

The one comment you make that I totally agree with concerns the manager, we need to rid ourselves of Slade and bring in either a manager with championship experience or a young upping coming manager with fresh ideas that will excite fans and encourage them to return to the City Stadium

Although I agree with the fact that kids should have free tickets, it isn't quite fair on the loyal customers who have paid full whack at the start of the season for a season ticket. They would need to be refunded all or some of the money that has been paid.
From next season though, I think that the loyalty of our fans should be rewarded by reducing the cost of season tickets for the adults who currently have a season ticket and giving the kids a free season ticket.

Personally, I think that if a kid has a season ticket next year and hasn't had one this season, they should get charged £20 for a season ticket (which is still quality)... Even if only 1000 tickets sold like this, it would still rake in £20,000 alone :notworthy:

Reducing the price of a child's season ticket will surely make parents want to go with those affordable prices!

Very very good point, and other factors are involved but them stats have always been there

The Club should charge a fair Adult price for next season and with that season ticket should come a free under 16 season ticket.
This can be anywhere within the stadium.

Before anyone says it will be misused, it's already policed within with the light system, if anyone was caught that free season ticket could be withdrawn.

They should take over the food outlets and offer better value drinks/food. This would encourage people to spend more on the food etc.

No..its more than money

Now your talking bus from Llanrumney to town, from town to Canton in cold/warm wet weather that has a boring football team, with an atmosphere central library would kill for.

Years ago, you had the same journey in the same weather, but at leat you had hope in the team, effort and a good atmosphere most games.. so if the game was shit, there was other things you could get up to

It us just dead down there now and if the team are playing shit and the atmosphere and banter is shit, you feel like you wasted 3/4 hours of your life

I would agree that they aren't returning in their droves but slowly slowly things picking up, we can look at the nitty gritty all we want but the attendance announced is how it's judged be it free kids non attendees as if we are comparing to other clubs then they to have fans not attending and schemes no doubt. Allan had a good point, you often see clubs up north or an area where the travelling is not far and they take 3 or 4 thousand yet nobody brings that to Cardiff.

Has to be 50 quid u 16 next year.

City will never die, it's steps backward at the Moment before step forwards can be taken but if they can iron out the issues and a decent team is assembled you know better than me they will be pouring through the gates. It is as it is, the fact we are retaining 14,000 shows how far we have come

Slade - maybe a nice old PE teacher - but there is nothing there - no direction , no drive, no personality, seemingly no tactics - I wish Slade all the best - but he has got what it takes - in any dept to be a success here.

I liked the Malky fist pump and the man , the personality etc

I would even rather Dave Jones to Slade

To get higher crowds now - it would be terrible - as a month of Slades football will put them off for life - and then it will take decades for them to come back.

Warnock, Holloway, Bellamy, Brendan Rogers even - anyone but Slade - it is dire to watch - and I have been going long enough to know what's good and what's not :old:

Umm 700+1400+10000=12100now take that from 15414 and that gives a walk up of 3314 not that bad surely for a boring slade team :sladeout: :bluescarf: :bluebird:

I believe tv has alot to do with the bad crowds also. As more and more people are getting f5 or android boxes etc which shows virtually every 3pm kick off in top leagues around the world. So think alot would rather stay in and watch man u , lpool, man c, Chelsea etc etc for free than spending time money and effort to get to stadium

I think we may have bottomed.

This is a long haul thing. Too many have set their stall out about Slade and are picking and choosing. I can't see us being a genuine play off team so i don't see it improving too much.

The choice of the next manager is crucial

You are all seem to be forgetting something pretty big (well it is for me)

Euro 2016 is next summer. In my budget for the year I could either afford a possible trip to France or watch City. I'm sure I'm not the only one that has had a similar choice and with city playing the kind of football that would make Brian clough turn in his grave it's a simple choice to make

Get to the Premier League. That's the only thing that will get the crowds back. Simple.

Tan has turned people away and the club has to start accepting it that many of them will never come back so kids who will be the fans of the future is the only option for them

This is so very true Adam, and for many of us it just doesn't feel the same anymore. To many now they just don't care if we win loose or draw, sad but it isn't the same anymore

Stop using the football on display as an excuse, Malkyball was just as bad if not worse than what Slades teams are churning out. On the flip side Dave Jones teams played some great football and he was hounded out by the fans.

FACT, the only thing that would bring back the crowds is promotion. Don't tell me all you lot on here coming up with excuses would make the same excuses if we were in the premier league with Slade in charge. It's one excuse after the other on this forum.

I know he won't I am talking hypothetically. But regardless my dear Angelis, we had Malkyball milky football for half our time in the Premiership which was enough to put us all to sleep and we had full houses.

Spot on. The crowds would coming flowing back and the ground will be packed once again. I'd love to hear their excuses for turning their back on our club this season if we get promoted though :laughing6:
