Alex Revell joins Wigan on three-month loan deal
The Cardiff City front man has struggled to find the net since joining in the summer and has been sent out on loan
Cardiff City boss Russell Slade has shipped out mis-firing striker Alex Revell after the frontman agreed a loan switch to Wigan.
And it could pave the way for a goalscorer hunt with the Bluebirds hit by a fresh injury blow to new boy Idriss Saadi.
Wigan – relegated out of the Championship last season – were desperate to land a forward after Grant Holt’s move to Wolves.
Cardiff City can confirm Alex Revell has joined Wigan Athletic on loan until January 23rd 2016.
Revell has just tweeted:
Thanks for all your messages really looking forward to this opportunity to show people what I'm about and help this club get promoted!

Ummmmmmmmmmm.
Not really sure what has just happened.
Why on earth play him so often then sell him?.
Why loan out Doyle and keep Revell for a few months then just get rid of both.

Pleased to see him go, however the timing is strange given we only have Jones, mason and ameobi fit now?
Wed Nov 11, 2015 4:41 pm
This is why slade shouldn't be given any transfer money, he's signed 3 strikers 1 is injured and 2 have now been loaned out to a league one club (revells level) and another to a promoted side to the championship, slade is out of his depth and this just shows how clueless he is in the transfer market at this level , if he is given any money he will waste it on these types of players

Must be another striker coming in
Wed Nov 11, 2015 4:44 pm
The day has just taken a turn for the better! lol
Wed Nov 11, 2015 4:44 pm
Must be clearing the decs for a new striker unless macheda us fit now
Wed Nov 11, 2015 4:44 pm
calm down darran.
Revell was only ever a stop gap signing.
The timing of this is odd indeed, i assume there is a recall clause in the contract?

How long is this "stop gap ", Slades signings are terrible overall, okeefe -never plays, revell -out on loan, Doyle -out on loan, tamas -waste of signing never going to get in the team when everyone is fit and he doesn't get in it now, Kennedy -can't get a game, saadi-signed injured, would you honestly give slade money to spend to improve the side I wouldn't
Wed Nov 11, 2015 4:52 pm
Turner must be close to full fitness

Remember it's just not slade spending the money it's the newly formed transfer committee

he can hoof it to so slade has looked in to it and he will get more shots off per game than revell

The only signings that get a game are malone who is nothing special and same can be said for peltier but Fabio would play instead of one of them when fit

Ned,That's his level and another bad signing by Slade.

Agree, whilst I'm glad revell has gone on loan it just shows how clueless slade is in the transfer market, he's signing players not good enough at this level and this is exactly why we will never get anywhere under slade

Strange one. KJ has just came back from injury and is off trekking half around the world again. Saadi injured for 6 weeks so that leaves Mason as sick note Kiko is still out.
Could there be another striker coming in on loan? Or does Slade just enjoy loaning our players out? I must admit I'm quite glad to see Revell go to be honest, he's league 1 at best.

Peltier has been very good this season and Kennedy is a really promising player. Right decision on Revell. Hope we get someone on loan...Wilson from Man United?

Sums it up really. Another of Slade's signings who have been sent away from the club. I know he's not good, but it doesn't look good on Slade. You have to ask are the likes of O'Keefe next? Would not be surprised if this was made permanent in January.
Look at our starting 11 on Saturday:
Marshall - Jones signing
Peltier - Slade signing
Morrison - Solskjaer signing
Connolly - Malky signing
Malone - Slade signing
Noone- Malky signing
Gunnarsson - Malky signing
Ralls - Malky signing
Pilkington - Solskjaer signing
Mason - Malky signing
Jones - Solskjaer signing
That's only two of players that Slade has signed that were in the starting 11. It would be one if Fabio was fit, who was a Solskjaer signing. That team is made up of Malky's and Solskjaer's signings - that's worrying.

Love edited title. People moan at Slade for playing Revell and then complain when he is loaned out!

You're missing the point, I'm glad he's gone on loan as he's not good enough at this level, I'm saying that this is why slade shouldn't be given any transfer money as he justs wastes it on signings that are not good enough, ie revell, okeefe, tamas etc

would you honestly give slade money to spend with his track record of signings so far, I wouldn't someone above me has posted the team with only a couple of Slade's signings in the lineup

Could have said from day 1 Revell would have been crap.
I saw Orient lose to Rotherham when Revell scored the winner for Rotherham in the playoff final and I guess at that point Slade coveted him... Reality is he's a good league 1 player but not a championship player... Next
Wed Nov 11, 2015 5:23 pm
Did the job he was brought in to do.We were in a mess when Slade came in,he's done his job too.
Wed Nov 11, 2015 5:25 pm
Something has happened ..... Revell not even on the bench last saturday and with Saadi crocked , there must be someone coming in

Spot on Ned You've certainly showed some facts there .

I don't get some of these views.
The guy wants to get games, he's hard working and was brought in for little or no money. Not much of a risk in bringing him here.
He's obviously lacking confidence, and even if it isn't his level, at least he gives it some on the pitch and i'm happy with that.
What was Eddie Johnsons Level? He never got the crap Revell gets, And yet some people worship Mason! who in my opinion has wasted many opportunities, and should've been dropped months ago.
I am happy for him he's off to Wigan, he will get game time there and maybe score a few.
I'd rather our players be like that rather than happily sitting in the reserves wasting the clubs money.
Good Luck Alex Revell.
