So what's the alternative?

Tue Nov 03, 2015 9:51 pm

Who would you replace Slade with then?

What chance does Slade or any other manager who comes in have when they're told by Tan the squad is already good enough and they won't be even allowed to bring in a loan player to help our depleted, injury hit squad?

I feel sorry for Slade, he hasn't been given a single penny to spend this season.

It's a shame the knives will be out for Slade tonight when it's Tan at fault for not allowing Slade to use the wages we freed up by loaning players out to bring in the extra quality we needed to build on our impressive start to the season.

I've always thought our squad was overrated and we were punching above our weight early on.

Unfortunately, injuries have caught up with us, Slade needs help with a bit of backing but Tan won't give it to him.

I still think what Slade has achieved under the constraints he's had to work in has been a miracle.

I still don't see how bringing in a different manager will help at all, as the new manager will also be given absolutely nothing to spend by Tan.

So who else is going to join us on 125k a year with the impossible task of improving us with our current squad, without being given a single penny to spend?

Tonteg you talk sense and I respect your posts and you clearly have knowledge of the beautiful game, he has indeed done a remarkable job and I agree that just a few injuries has made the difference but come on it's more the performances which is the biggest issue. He won't take risks and is not capable of taking us forward, he has as you pointed out made us punch above our weight. It's dire :sladeout:

Stringfellow, I do agree about our performances. I thought some of our performances early in the season were excellent, particularly QPR away, but our last few displays have been shocking.

I criticised Slade for the first time after the Brighton game. We were dominated from start to finish and despite drawing 1-1, I felt Slade should have changed our system to 4-5-1 to counter their extra man in the middle.

Slade is very set in his ways, our last few poor performances have been linked to injuries, but Slade is keeping the same system which is failing. Slade really needs to start changing it, we can't score goals and our biggest creative spark (imo), Kennedy isn't figuring.

I will always stick up for Slade because he has achieved with us what many other managers wouldn't be able to at this level imo. A lot of bigger named, "better" managers have failed with better squads on bigger budgets.

However, our form is declining drastically and for Slade to keep my support, I think he must change a few things now. Our strikers and wingers have not delivered, so time to switch to 4-5-1, play Kenwyne up top on his own and have Kennedy and Ameobi as the wingers/wide forwards supporting him.

Who would you replace Slade with Annis?

Who can we realistically bring in on a low wage to work for our crackpot owner?

Who else on a low wage can improve our current squad with no backing in the transfer market?

Ross, Tan won't put a real manager in, he likes to control them, so Tan will never replace him with much better

Hasselbaink played at the highest level possible so would not be fazed by the size of the club and I've watched button and they play some lovely stuff.. He should have some quality links and big clubs and lots of friends in the game.. Hasselbaink would get me excited :sladeout: :sladeout: :sladeout:
