Cardiff City preparing deal to sign Premier League midfielder in January
1st October 2015

Sky Bet Championship club Cardiff City are working hard to put a deal in place to take Joe Ledley to the Cardiff City Stadium during the January transfer window, according to HITC Sport.
Cardiff City are preparing a deal for Ledley
The Welsh club wouldn’t be the only club interested in their former midfield dynamo if he should become available, but given the player’s affection for the club it could give them the edge.
In a six-year period with the Bluebirds, Ledley turned out 229 times for the club scoring 27 goals before making a switch to Scottish giants Celtic in 2010.
He moved to London with Crystal Palace in 2014 and was a mainstay in the side before the club’s summer capture of Yohan Cabaye, which has naturally restricted the player’s opportunities.
Russell Slade’s Cardiff City have started the season in impressive fashion and currently occupy sixth place in the Championship, and will no doubt be eager to cement themselves in the top six in the division.
A signing in January of Ledley’s quality would further enhance their chances of keeping a top six finish come the end of the season, as his experience and quality should enhance the Welsh club’s midfield options considerably.
Cardiff fans… Would you welcome Ledley back?
Do you still resent him somewhat for leaving in the first place? Would he improve your promotion chances?

Come home joe

Why January and not over the summer? However circumstances do change very quickly in Football. For me he would be perfect and would fit in to the hard working ethos at the club, brings great experience. Some will say he left etc, but that's fans wearing a fans hat. 99% if not more people would take an opportunity to earn more money doing the same job, fans don't want to hear that as football is a fantasy to some and a fairytale to others but in reality that's the truth.

It was the way it was done and
NOT the fact that it was done that has alienated Joe to many!
Quote (above): "but given the player’s affection for the club..."
Some will agree and some will disagree, but ultimately it was a 'planned' move to maximise Joe's earning potential and not to realise true footballing ambition, so the above quote is a little 'stretchy' at best!

Whatever happened we don't know they'll story, the club fucked about for too long were skint and Joe went for the money boo hoo. He's a quality player, a local boy and Welsh international I'd love him to come and help our promotion push!

He won't be the first as an example or last person to leave club and want to come back plenty of others done so in the past and you all welcomed earnie back - Cardiff held back players for years with no ambition - sometimes it's best for a player to go and make a career now if we have a chance of bringing him we'll go get him ( and all support him be positive for once ) he would be a great asset to the club - and be bouncing with the current welsh squad with team spirit ! COME ON HOME JOE you know it's time !

I wouldn't lose any sleep if he didn't sign - would be good, solid player in the Championship - but no player who would really excite and propel us to the tiltle.

We are always preparing to sign someone but it never happens

Ledley would be stupid to come to us especially with turmoil still at our club.
There will be better clubs to come in for him.

Swear this has been a rumour for ages, we're always looking to bring Joe Ledley back
Fri Oct 02, 2015 8:24 am
Still think Nolan is a better option, his goal record speaks for itself. Ledley would still improve us though.

Think Joe will find his way to the Hawthornes myself hmmmmm

Neither have been prolific goal scorers for the last two full seasons. Nolan has 8 goals (only 1 last season) and Ledley 4.

I really like Joe, but it'll be one too many Joes! Really think Ralls is amazingly similar....to the younger Lesley especially. Nolan would give us something we haven't got...a goal-scoring midfielder. Guaranteed to score a load in the Championship.

Ledley...bloody predictive text!

True but a lot of the apps last couple of seasons have been as sub.
Nolans record is 593 apps/111 goals
Ledley record is 467 apps/64 goals

Another player not over blessed with pace
Fri Oct 02, 2015 11:28 am
I'd rather Joe Cole on loan from Villa
Fri Oct 02, 2015 11:31 am
Certainly not blessed with loads of options in centre midfield! Would love to see a local boy back in the squad and is still a great player!
Come home Joe!

where would you play hime or should i say who would you drop.
He still looks laboured when passing and is a defensive midfielder nowadays not the young kid running beyond the strikers.
Nolan would take mason's position
Fri Oct 02, 2015 12:04 pm
Left side midfield
Centre midfield
Left back
Perfect squad player three players in one.

How would Nolan take Mason's position? Nolan is a midfielder, Mason is playing as our main striker?
Fri Oct 02, 2015 12:45 pm
Surely Jones is playing as our main striker.
Mason is with drawn forward almost a central attacking midfielder.
Would Nolan have scored every one of Masons goals, i believe so

Mason is playing front of the line with Kenwyn behind to provide knock-ons etc
Nolan isn't a striker, he plays centre midfield.
