Both sides will argue that their home support is worthy of praise given their current situations.

Swansea City and Cardiff City are arguably the two biggest clubs out of a very small collection of Welsh sides playing in the English game.

And they have both had their fair share of ups and downs across all English leagues, epitomised by Swansea’s meteoric rise from the lower ends of the Football League towards the top half of the Premier League.

And with two modern stadiums to boast, both sides will argue that their home support is worthy of praise given their current situations.

Swansea sit seventh in the Premier League as they strive to maintain their top half status, whilst Cardiff continue a struggle to find the top-flight after their recent relegation in 2014.

However, both the Liberty Stadium and the Cardiff City Stadium have had their fair share of amazing moments that have entertained many home fans over the years.

Swansea's home support f*cking destroys ours in terms of atmosphere (and now attendances this season).

What a load of crap! How can you compare the 2 sides when they arent in the same division? They play Man Utd, we play Rotherham.

You got to laugh this being asked when it's the first time in decades the jacks have had a better crowd despite being established premiership team, and decent exciting football. Compare that to our situation, not really a level playing field. So for now I will reluctantly give them that one, but over the years not even a competition and had Cardiff had the success Swansea have had then we all know that ground wouldnt be big enough and the noise would be fantastic. For many the dream was prem, for me it's established in the prem. the dream continues. :bluebird:

a non-story if ever I saw one. Given the turmoil of the past few years, I'd say that the fans have been amazingly loyal home and away.

Every club experiences ups and downs. You can't possibly measure a club on a crest with a club recovering from relegation. If Cardiff are promoted, Swansea won't be able to match attendances because of the sizes of the stadiums. If Cardiff are in the top flight, the stadium will, be roofed again.

For now, the question is irrelevant. :bluescarf:

Who has the better home support cardiff or Swansea  no contest, it's Swansea everyday of the week. The liberty is one of the loudest grounds in the PL and cardiff one of the quietest in the championship. Even when you were in the Pl and played us at your ground the atmosphere was poor for a local derby, compared to a rocking liberty later that season. :thumbright:

At the moment it's the jacks. The real test of loyal support is what would happen if either club ended back in the dungeon. I'd guess that both clubs would be down to hardcore home support of 5-6000 and away support of 300-400.

Clearly the championship atmospheres have quietened off since you were last there! Most grounds I visit, it's tate to hear more than A few songs! Struggling we might be, to say we are the quietest in the championship is way off. When our fans say the atmosphere is poor its because we have had decades of being spoilt, by our standards it's quiet. You go back and sing your max Boyce anthems :laughing6:

What I'm struggling to get my head around is, why is the comparison with Swansea ? I thought Bristol City were Cardiff's main rivals? :laughing6:

Not so long ago, the CCS was full virtually every game. Considering the difficulties over the rebrand, etc., it is still attracting a large hardcore of stalwarts.

I am always amazed how many fans still go and watch us through what's mainly been a traumatic 8 or so years, constant financial trouble, debts, takeovers, playoff failure, cup finals failure, premier league shambles and then the rebrand fir a final kick in the nuts. Not to mention how Wayne Nash and the club has been responsible for killing any atmosphere at our new ground. The jacks meanwhile have had 8 champagne years, it won't get much better for them. Non story

You do realise you couldn't hear a peep out of you lot after we scored and beat you in the prem game yeah? In fact the whole 2nd half. It was so bad that some of the regulars on here disappeared for weeks. Enjoy your selective memory

No doubt the article is written by someone who realises the Cardiff and Swansea are each other's main rival. I know a spurs fan who says Chelsea are spurs biggest rivals, but he and a few others who think like that, aren't really a fair representation of reality, because spurs main rivals are Arsenal. Just like Cardiff's main rivals are the mighty jacks.

This.

Throughout the history of both clubs, exactly how many times have they had a better average over the course of a season? Pathetic article, typical jack mentality.

For me it's the Jacks as our main rival! Maybe it's dependant on your age but my first away was the vetch and it's stayed with me

The answer to this is - at the moment Swansea.

Up until 2 years ago and for the best part of 20 years Cardiff.

For the 10 years prior, fairly even.

Prior to that Cardiff.

I think you'll find the 'Jacks' rivals are indeed Cardiff City FC, but the same cannot be said the other way around

Traditionally, the Bristol clubs (City in particular) have been Cardiff's main 'rivals' and Swansea have only had a relatively small and recent 'rivalry' with their capital club

As a Cardiff City supporter (you must be, as you spend more time on the Cardiff web-site talking about them than most ;) ) you should know that! ;)
