Cardiff Ultras

Tue Sep 22, 2015 9:07 am

Setting up an inorganic Ultra group is totally against what Ultras are about.

In recent decades, the culture has become a focal point for the movement against the commercialization of sports and football in particular

Cardiff Ultras would need to be practically independent of the club IMO, one can assume an 'Ultra group' will have no political ideology, therefore club has no right to have any input on what banners and flags the Ultra group wish to unfurl

Freedom of speech is essential factor of an Ultra 'fanatical support' Are the club to allow 'Tan Out' banners at the CCS if the group so wish?? abroad, banners are only checked for political slogans or racial slurs. Everything else is fair game, yes, freedom of speech. I just can't see that happening with the total authoritarian control by the stewards, with orders from the top.

Palace Ultras regularly unfurl messages against modern football and it's wrongs. Is Tan & Co seriously going to allow that at the CCS? :?

Cardiff Ultras should link up with the Ultras of North Korea as they will share the same set-up

I hope to God they don't call them 'cardiff ultras' so cringy and unoriginal

It's all good to make suggestions to improve the atmosphere, but we also need to discuss the merits of each idea. Nobody is using the word 'Ultra' in it's right context as what is being suggested at Cardiff is not an Ultra group.

Palace in my eyes do have an Ultra group, it was set-up organically, they do have a moan on modern football and support the team.

Cardiff to allow this? it's a bit at odds with the club's objectives

Use a drum ok. Goal music why not.

But calling ourselves ultras is laughable.

I hate Palace because that is what they do. Try hards. We are british football fans, I don't class myself as a European football fan.

We have our reputation around the UK. We are still seen by many as the soul crew etc. Even though people on here say those days are gone. It isn't needed.

When we first moved here there was always mick taking from both sets of fans by the away end, sometimes scuffles. So it isn't impossible to get it back.Like there was a bit of trouble with W.B.A wasn't there?. The stadium will be back to having a glimmer of intimidation when we start filling it. W.B.A ffs!. Full stadiums means more passion, more on the line.

Please, please do not get a flag saying ultras. Lets be original and not become a load of fan boys blatantly taking it of Palarse.

When palace go back to being shit, their atmosphere will go stale.

Re: Cardiff Ultras

I don't think the club would take a mature attitude when it comes to banners of discontent, social commentary, ticketing, or how the club is run. They want to buy the banners/flags for the 'Ultras' to use is what I'm reading.

A word that I shall describe this collusion is a common one on this forum, but again used in the wrong context 'plastic'

Your right mate, this word ultra should be forgotten. It can still be a vocal supporters group without trying to be something we are not

But the point is the like minded people standing together seems to have fizzled out and not working hence the reasons for thinking of other ways to create atmosphere.

Cardiff can mix old ways with new cardiff ultra ways to create a better atmosphere really dont see what the problem is.

who are these Ultras!? let them come forward and have their say........ :bluebird: :ayatollah:

I honestly don't think the youngsters want to do it tbh, will be like a woman forcing a husband to go food shopping after a while when the initial buzz wears off

everyone knows the answer to getting a good atmosphere, Annis & loads of posters mention it daily, but it's not on the agenda.

Re: Cardiff Ultras

No problem with the singing section, banners, even megaphone, but ULTRAS??

It's just another stick for WUM's to beat the club with when things don't go well

What's wrong with The Crew?

The more I think about it and read other people's opinions, the more I'm against it. I love spontaneous chanting the Cardiff way!! This fan base has a good history of vocal supporting and should not be forgotten :bluebird: :bluebird: :ayatollah:

Change the bloody ends around and concentrate on getting a team good enough for promotion as half the problem is that the CCS is just too big for Championship football

Re: Cardiff Ultras

All for having a name to unite behind, but 'Ultras' is just too artificial and plastic and it's no coincidence that a club with fans known as the Stripey Nigels should be the ones to take it in the English game  Why not call us something like the 'Canton Enders' or Canton Crew or Canton Boys??

Yeah true we're forgetting that vinnys amazing idea to expand the stadium before we secured premier league security as previously planned is probably adding to the graveyard factor

Cardiff Ultras to be waving flags designed by the club? Ken Choo from his interview:

City have put forward a suggested design of their own, incorporating former legends Fred Keenor, Brian Clark, Andy Legg and Kevin McNaughton, and offered the services of their in-house designer to help fans.

“We have put forward a design simply as a gesture to supporters,” said Choo. “They can by all means select our design or pick one of their own. They make the decision.

“If they decide to go with their own idea then we will help by making our designer available to help in any way.

“We all want flags or quality. We want them to be classy.”

I submitted an idea the Watford fans had and they made their own flag. It was like this. So hopefully the club have went down this route Image

Re: Cardiff Ultras

Thu Sep 24, 2015 6:58 pm

I would back this idea 100% but i also don't like the name "ultra" Ninian True or Canton Enders appeal to me.

The idea however of getting younger fans (or anyone else) together who want to sing and jump around and just have a good time while they support the team sounds a good one to me.

I think older fans are worried that the heritage will be lost. It won't, it won't be loads of european styled songs, but a few sprinkled in with all the cardiff songs

We already do a few that are from Europe. For example the " We love you chant" is from St Pauli.

The way I see it, let those who want to do it do it...and if you don't want to be in it, then don't be.

It'll be great!
