I DID NOT REALISE IT WAS THAT BAD

Mon Sep 14, 2015 9:23 am

We had the Lowest Crowd in the Championship

Come on there are NO excuses for that, 2nd in the Table, Blue, Unbeaten, Cheaper than most of the clubs to watch, yet clubs like Preston, Charlton,Bolton,Burnley, Boro etc etc etc beat us

Suddenly everyone is to busy else where

For me this is very worrying and won't help sell our club or warrant further investment.

Wonder what away fans attendances were at other relevant games And what effect it had on crowd numbers?
All well and good highlighting our crowds but if going to do so do it accurately (just home support) How far did other fans travel how many local Derby's ect ect all effect size crowds, yes ours is crap but then its distorted by fact St sales lowest in many many years so this season was always going to have low attendance's for awhile compared to previous years!

i am still going to the games.

Personally couldnt give two shits about anyone else.

Brighton had almost double our attendance for the visit of Hull on the weekend so will be interesting to see how many we get tomorrow night for the same visitors. Whichever way you look at it, still disappointing we are getting lower gates than Charlton, Burnley, QPR and a few others. These are sides that we can usually compete with on the attendance figures but I think things will improve if we are still at top end of table after 12 or 15 games.

The fact we are a big club is a myth that is only peddled in our fair city - but we clearly are not. Therefor attendances are fine. Our problem is that our stadium makes it look worse. :bluescarf: :bluescarf: :sladein:

Allan, yes fans go other clubs prob more but say Rotherham to ChArlton won't be that much more than Hudds to Cardiff, we can keep making excuse after excuse but our attendances are appalling

Paulh, I'm still there, but this is not just worrying me, but our own club is now very worried financially about it, they thought we would average about 18,000 this season and budgeted for it

Steve, very very worrying that we are nearly half of Brightons crowd and the lowest in our division, I don't see the crowds coming back as easy as everyone thinks.

No it won't be easy. It's not completely about the 90 minutes on the pitch, it's also about the whole matchday experience. I don't think the CCS ground management are helping much when it comes to creating a good atmosphere. We are unable to create an intimidating atmosphere due to being constantly told what we can and can't do in the ground. Should allocate an area where supporters can stand and sing, although I appreciate that a lot of modern supporters do not like people standing up in front of them. Be good if we could bring back the terraces. Be good if the opposition dreaded coming to Cardiff just like Leeds did back at NP. Maybe I need to move with the times, but I enjoyed the days when there was a real atmosphere at games, sometimes it's more like watching a cricket match now.

Lets hope we have stopped the freefall now.....

There is very little positivity around, it isn't the old days, Ninian park has gone (a decade later than it should have), the old school have left and they'll only come back for the big games and moan how shit the atmosphere is.

There have always been lulls in our fanbase appetite. The Eddie years were mentally good but withered. We all bought into the malky thing. Tan, over two years wrecked the vibe that will take seasons to get back. he was the reason we went up, but the reason we have fallen so steeply,so quickly.....

Not sure what the club can do.....

Our attendances should rise to about 18k if we stay in the top 4 for the next month or so! After that they.l keep rising as long as we are up up there.

I had lots of changes this season, mortgage and a baby so couldn't afford a season ticket.
Then I said I'll pick and choose my games. But at £31 a ticket....

Where are they £31 pound? Im guessing they are match day prices.

Tickets in the canton stand are £20 for tomorrow's game online today, and £22 in block 117/116 online today :bluescarf:

Re: I DID NOT REALISE IT WAS THAT BAD

Its the whole match day experience that is the issue as well as the mediocre football that we are subject too. True - Malky's football was dire also and I think the rot actually started there, but, people were sold on the reduced season tickets and thus made it relatively inexpensive to attend matches.
I had to give up my season ticket prior to the "promotion season" due to work and family commitments, following having held an ST for over 15 years prior - although I did make at least half a dozen home games. However, I do find it truly amazing that since me giving up my ST, I never at the time, or have still to receive any communication from the club or its e marketing division promoting games to me or even asking why I did not renew - Simple answer to this, we were promoted and my seat was then sold - and my last 15 years of loyalty were forgotten by the club. In times of our dismally low attendances, where the club can't simply buy a floating supporter - you would surely think that whoever runs the commercial department would look at past ST holders information and those who have not renewed and ask them selves why and then reach out - especially when the club have budgeted for at least 5 - 6k more season tickets being sold - especially recently when they were offering cheap bring a mate pricing for Wolves.
I cant be the only one in this situation, but, I suppose the quick success brought rapid complacency and the rapid bump back to earth on relegation has led to the club not knowing how to reconnect to its longer standing ST holders or realizing that there are life long fans that have be basically ignored by club and who now attend games as and when they want.

It's almost always down to the quality of football and the entertainment value.

OK we are second but come on, how many times on Saturday did you see something that got you up out of your seat.

In reality it's still not good to watch.

Me too! Saturday was brilliant! Warm weather, a win, parking was easy and no queues for a drink. Despite the sparse attendance I thoroughly enjoyed myself!

I paid £34 for 1 adult & 1 U16 ticket for Saturdays game in lower Ninian, I could have had them far cheaper if I booked it earlier but wasn't sure if I was coming down from Aberystwyth for the game. With 2.5 hrs travelling each way, food, drinks and diesel it's an expensive day out and after an hour of the game it certainly wasn't worth it but then........ :ayatollah: :D

Annis,
This is the first time in years where fans don't feel desperate to buy tickets in advance so as not to miss something.
We've had the 5 year fixed deal which recently ended, we've had cup finals, play-offs, and the threat of missing us in the Premiership if we didnt get a season ticket.
To compound matters, Tan had his rebrand fiasco, where a load of fans have still not returned, and then they increase the capacity to 34000 for a one-off game!!!
It's like a blueprint of how not to run a club......they couldnt have messed it up more. At one stage we had an average of over 26000. With a little bit of thought, cheap renewals for a 2 year package at that stage would have kept the momentum going.
Crowds will pick up if we stay in the top 6, but lots have found other things to do.
People will always make excuses, but this mess was caused by the owner....no-one else.

Mark, there is a lot of truth in your post and our club have messed up big time this season, they got it all wrong the season tickets etc

Re: I DID NOT REALISE IT WAS THAT BAD

Tell people that if they get a season ticket before December, they get their 16/17 ticket half price, and people will flock to us. Give same deal to current loyal ST holders too.

At this point, which such shit attendances, can't imagine that a significant discount on season tickets is going to have a massive impact on the clubs finances?
