' UPDATED '

Russell Slade has landed the striker he’s been chasing after Cardiff City made a shock swoop for unknown French league frontman Idriss Saadi.

Slade beat the transfer deadline to seal a deal with Ligue 2 outfit Clermont for the 23-year-old former France youth international.

Nicknamed Le Taureau – The Bull – the physical goalscorer was seen as one to watch in the French lower levels before suffering knee ligament damage in January, only recently completing his comeback with Clermont.

But the Algerian qualified forward has been seemingly identified by the Bluebirds to boost their attacking options having been keen to add to their firepower all summer.

I hope we do this more often.

Low risk, with possibly high rewards.

Don't know anything about him, could turn out to be another Rudy Gestede in the long term.

Don't tell me he'll score a few goals, be sold for peanuts and then be a success at his new club and we won't have a sell on clause?

No work permit needed as he's French.

This is quite an underwhelming signing for me, we still only have Kenwyne as our main goalscorer, I will give this guy a chance of course but I think that we should have got someone who is a proven goalscorer, bit more known and will excite the fans more.

What's the point signing a player that may or may not bring fans back, say we brought in Campbell, he wouldn't bring in 3k fans alone, the fans we've missed. I don't know too much about this signing bar the starts but from the league we've bought him from it seems the money we've parted with won't be much and he might be a worthwile signing with not much risk

You'll give him a chance, but he's an underwhelming signing for you!

The loan window opens soon, so even if we don't sign anybody in this window, keeping hold of Marshall & Kenwynne Jones will be a good transfer window for me!

All was one

All I said and Carl said was that the deal was virtually done on a new striker, which there was.
We never said we knew who it was? ? ?

I never said we should sign someone who will bring the fans back, I said we should look for a signing that fans can be happy and excited about, no offence to the guy but people aren't going to be overjoyed that he has joined because no one knows who he is.

I agree this is low risk and that is a good thing, I was just hoping that we would get someone in that we know for sure is good at finding the back of the net.

Can't stop laughing mate, you summed it up in a nutshell. I have never heard of half the players the jacks sign and as Much as it pains me they got it right.

The supposedly most uninspiring and clueless singing Ccfc made was Mark Delaney, from Carmarthen for a few balls and a few grand. Enough said
