Well wins like that is a good start.
But what else can be done by the club and even by the fans to increase the home attendances again?
Sat Aug 22, 2015 7:55 pm
nothing.
only winning games

We had the attendance today that is about normal for this club when sitting mid table in this division. If we show signs of making a serious promotion challenge, the attendances will be 20,000 or more. If we slip into the lower half, 12 to 15,000 will be par for this club.

Correct. 'Hardcore fans' will be back once we win lots of games and are challenging. I actually enjoy the atmosphere at the moment, no booing and everyone is behind the team.

Bring back terracing that produced volatile atmospheres. Atmospheres at grounds are few and far between.

Didn't detect my sarcasm I take it... The self proclaimed 'hardcore' who were all there at Halifax away back in the 90s, yet look for an excuse when we're not favourites for the league. Like I've said in other posts, they'll be back if we go on a run. It's a shame but all clubs have these fans. The vocal minority who we're fuming when we weren't playing Barcelona type football in the premier league under Malky, these same fans don't go anymore because of 'various' reasons, not because they're 'fickle'

For a start , open up the top tier and give all the local schools and youth teams free tickets . They are our future , will improve attendance , atmosphere and make a killing on merchandise

I did here someone boo really loud in the ninian stand when Whittingham had the audacity to pass the ball backwards, hate fans like that

If those attendance figures are going to rise from just 14,000 those £10 tickets need to be promoted heavily - mentioned in every TV interview, in adverts in the Echo, on advertising hoardings around the City and promotions in the centre of town - main railways stations, The Hayes, Queen Street, St Mary's Street etc. When the public know they can get in and watch a match for that little the place with soon be packed to the rafters.

As said before, give schools free tickets in the top tier. Make them feel welcome and give them the best possible experience you could imagine. Start the day at 3pm, with interactive games and team bonding sessions around the stadium. Give them stadium tours and meet the player sessions after the game. Guaranteed that if they enjoy the day, they'll be nagging their parents to attend and buy merchandise! Let's make South Wales Blue again!

Great idea but who is going to pay for all the overheads ?

Take a mate.
If half of the regulars took a mate once in a while, numbers would swell.
I'd also love if there could be a way to dish out family tickets to schools around cardiff. Get the youngsters involved, give their parents a ticket too. Get some new fans in.

Bring back the drumming band they had at the back of the canton on a scaffold. Fantastic

Win games and play football like we did against Wolves.

The overheads would be minimal the money made off merchandise and future ticket sales would far out way anything it costs to allow them in .
No police would be needed , minimal stewards as the teachers would be taking that role .
They would add to the atmosphere
We could also do a deal like a free school child ticket with every paying adult in that stand at say a fiver .
Having a few different local kids teams every week would give us a good chance to see any up and coming youngsters around South Wales for our youth set up.
The players not in the match day squad could interact with them signing autographs and having pictures taken . They are being paid so they can do some work for the money .
In all honesty it's a no brainer and it's pretty poor of the clubs commercial side that this doesn't happen allready .

It would be nice to get a promotion with our true identity, we did have pretty decent crowds last time even in red. Would we get the same now? I can't help but think we have a better squad than before. We def have better defenders, a stronger midfield too, same keeper etc....even bellers had a distinctly average season last time. Will the crowds return or has the population had enough of football. Let's face it how many of a city of 350,000 actually go? Hardly any. Nevermind the other 600,000 who live within 20 miles...

300 bucks for adult and child then I'll renew.if the club can pay up contracts then they csn drop prices.

Winning games is the only way. The 13,000 Cardiff fans who attended yesterday are the only true fans left.

Winning matches and playing decent football ⚽.

They are the true fans at this level. If we drop down a couple of divisions 7 or 8 thousand of those will stop going as well. There is nothing surprising about our current attendances, it's normal for this club in our present position. Twelve to fifteen thousand was par for the course when we were a mid Div 2 side when I first went to Ninian Park. Nothing has changed. A few wins and a challenge for promotion will see an extra 5 to 8,000 depending on the opposition.

Yep, I guess there's a line where football fans think "enough is enough" when it comes to failure. I've only experienced life as a Cardiff fan since 2005 so in terms of success it hasn't been worse than this as we are where we were exactly 10 years ago. I'd like to think that I'd support the club no matter and I think that's how true supporters should think.

It has been very trying these last few years! If Cardiff City truly runs through your blood you will support the club come what may! Yesterday's game has made me feel there is hope we can build from here! How many times over these last few seasons have we come away from The Cardiff City Stadium feeling quite pleased about a performance like that? I don't really expect us to make a serious challenge this season (unless we actually do sign a few players) but as long as we have a set of players that play for the shirt I'm happy with that for now!
