Cardiff City's transfer dealings

Cardiff City chairman Mehmet Dalman has publicly apologised to fans for the off-field turbulence that wrecked chances of promotion this season and vowed to back manager Russell Slade in the transfer market.

Dalman revealed Slade has drawn up a ‘shopping list’ of targets, with three or four strong additions expected this summer.

And he insisted the high turnover of players that has seen the Bluebirds team changed beyond recognition during the course of the season should now end.

The chairman issued his apology to more than 200 people at the Cardiff City Supporters Club awards night, attended by Slade and all of his players, saying: “I’m sorry for a turbulent year in terms of people coming in and going out.

“I’d like to think we are at a stage where we won’t be seeing much more of that. We are really pulling this team together now.

“Yes, we will go to the market, add to the stock and are in the process of doing the budget for that.

“Russell has a shopping list and my job is to give him the support and resources to do what he does best and that is get his team into shape to win games.”

Dalman is working closely with owner Vincent Tan, chief executive Ken Choo and Slade on plans for next season, with a serious promotion challenge the stated target.

A dozen players have left the club on permanent deals or loans this year, with Slade ordered to slash £12m from the wage bill in order to meet Financial Fair Play regulations.

Those departures seriously undermined any hopes of mounting a serious promotion charge as Slade failed to find any sort of continuity following the doomed Ole Gunnar Solskjaer regime.

“We understand we have put you guys, Cardiff City supporters, through a lot and I am sorry we have done that,” said Dalman. “Thanks for sticking with us.

“This club has a good bunch of people from executive level down to the grass roots and we need patience. It takes time to build great teams and it can’t be done overnight. It takes hard work, perseverance and more. But we have seen and can see team spirit growing and we will take that into next season. That will be crucial.

“Be patient with us as we build the club. We will get there with your support.”

Dalman talked about the Bluebirds ‘heroes’ in Slade’s backroom team, saying: “The owner, to a lesser degree the chairman and Russell are in the spotlight, but there are a whole bunch of guys doing a fantastic job and working hard for our club.

“The technical guys, backroom staff are crucial to Cardiff City and we thank them all.”

Until the window closes it's hard to argue.

The next line will be he had the budget but didn't want to spend it as the right players weren't available.

probably because slade couldn't attract the names on his shopping list!

As u said, window not closed yet, but I don't see us bringing in 3 strong signings !!!

you can't trust what the club say, due to their history of deception and lies so instead you have to go on their actions. we should be judged by the end of the transfer window on our business, but to be honest the business should have been done by now.

History of deception and lies?

More like the arrogance Vincent Tan shows like saying 25% of customers.

Very little enthusiasm about my beloved Bluebirds this time around and after 40years - that's me done. :sladeout:

My loyalty was taken for granted so the club can shove it. I'll pick and chose my games like the afc dons game. Club full off talkers and not enough walking it.

It's business. A statement aimed at selling season tickets and nothing more.

I've said all along that I know Slade wanted certain players and it's not happened,But Slade only has himself to blame as he has gone public and said only 10 days ago he is happy with his squad, ready to go and top 6 at least.

If Slade wants to make those statements then,it's down to him now.

I don't think Slade can attract players - he has no experience at this level

Tan does not have a clue...and lies
Dalman is just a yes man
The club from top down to Slade have no experience...the only way they have previously attracted players is by throwing high wages at them.
Now those days are over they have not got a MANAGER who can attract quality players :sladeout: :sladeout: :sladeout:

Its all about names for some peoole. Go back to your football manager games

Re: Where has this promise gone ?

They have kept the promise about there not being a high turnover of players.

I guess the right player hasn't become available for the right price. I'd rather the club didn't buy unless the conditions were right, we've made enough errors in the market and we already have a strong squad.

It's easy to pick parts of what people say and make mischief.

However, I'm a bit more objective and for me the above reads that RS has a list and its DM job (along with other executives) to provide the financial support. That financial support doesn't just mean transfer fees it includes wages as well. Therefore I assume that RS approached DM for the resources to sign Sammy Ameobi (our contribution to his wages) and they were provided. Therefore there is "no" lie just disappointment that Slade hasn't secured more of his targets, although the window still has more than a couple of weeks to run.

The second part of what DM says has also been totally overlooked in the rush to shit stir and slander the management and board. DM clearly asks for patience and our support in turning the club around.

I'm will to give that support because I care more about Cardiff City than any personal vendettas that I might have. Why can't those who claim to 'love' CCFC do the same and not place their own self-interest and prejudice above the club's wellbeing?

This promise is filed away with Debt to Equity promise.
Never to be seen again under Emperor Tan. Why do people believe his propaganda?

The anti Tan and anti Slade attitude of this board is getting boring now. If people feel so strongly about it, then please leave. Go and form your own perfect club and stop trying to spoil the fun of others. Just because your lives are crap and you can't get your own way, you try to make everyone else feel as bad as you do. Get some perspective and perhaps some therapy :old: :sladein:

Could flip it and say where are the fans who said ' back to blue ' and we will follow in our thousands, even if in Div 2 ?

Re: Where has this promise gone ?

People saying slade can't attract players, what a load of bollocks. Hes only working with what he's given and we all know it's down to the no MONEY he's been given. Which is next to nothing in this case but keep believing he's been given the full backing of tan and dalman with what players he wants when clearly it's all spin as MONEY TALKS. That's if they even accept any supposed mystery bids to start with

This. All of those fans who argued that red was destroying the club and losing our fans and then walk away just as we got the blue back.

Re: Where has this promise gone ?

Fri Aug 14, 2015 9:25 am

Problem has been that the club expected a lot of our available players to be sold.
Truth is that other clubs wont offer the wages and players wont move for less money so they will justvride out their contracts.

FFS boys, please stop with all the endless bleating - the pejorative language, the selective memory, the lack of perspective - some of you are worse than my ex-wife, and she was (and still is) barking.

And don't tell me it's because you care cos that is even sadder boys - we all f*cking care or we wouldn't be mad enough to support the City.

Debt to equity was part of rebrand.

No rebrand = no debt to equity. At least in my eyes anyway.

I also remember such comments as

"Change back to blue and there will be a party like you have never seen / won't be able to buy a ticket / season ticket sales will go through the roof"

Rick Wright says I'm giving the club to the junior bluebirds.

Cadman says I'm buying the club.

Sullivan says I'm buying the club.

Hamamm says we can be bigger than Barcelona, I'm spending my own money, West Brom will be a feeder club to us, I will not sell Earnshaw, I will not sell Kavanagh, the club has no money problems.

Ridsdale says buy a season ticket the money will go to buy players, we aren't going bust.

We say change back to blue the place will be the biggest party you have ever seen, we will sell out home games, sell loads of season tickets, we will be happy.

I'm more shocked when someone tells the truth.
