Aston Villa manager Tim Sherwood has revealed that Craig Bellamy was crucial in the decision to pay £6million for Rudy Gestede, Bellamy gave Gestede a glowing reference.
Bellamy had played one season with the 26 year old and highly recommended Gested.
Blackburn will receive the full £6 million fee,Gestedes previous club Cardiff will receive nothing, due to no sell on clauses.
Gestede scored the winner for Villa on Saturday in their opening Premier League match.
By none other than Craig Bellamy, it's just a shame he didn't recommend to our bosses to keep him in the first place.

Awkward situation for Malky really after he had bought in Cornelius.
Mad to think he was shipped out on loan with the option to buy for peanuts and a season later goes back to the prem for 6m
while at the same time we took a 6m loss of Cornelius.
12m swing for nothing.

£12m? That's a sobering thought, Luke!
And still some on here 'laud' Malky after he 'hoodwinked' us during the divorce period and (now proven IMHO) overpaid for many players who simply didn't turn up for Cardiff City FC whilst taking far more in a month than the current manager gets in a year!

I rest my case.

Once again shocking business by those at the top from the CEO and up.
CEO'S are there to do the business side and any young player sold for peanuts should have clauses in the sale contracts

The loss on Cornelius was more than £6m. Most of the paper reports at the time he left (based on club briefings) put it around £8.5m

We shouldn't have sold Cornelius.
We should have given Kewnyne Jones away. Paid someone to take him even, then kept Corn Dog.
He was young, never given a chance apart from one game in the league cup. Coming off an injury.
As we've seen, any striker playing for us is going to struggle with the current midfielders. We are a graveyard for strikers.
I COULD GUARANTEE, that Cornelius would have performed equally to the strikers we've been playing. He would have run more than Kenwyne. And possibly now we would be reaping the rewards. Oh well.

But the things is Corn was on f*cking 45 k a week

he had to go plain and simple.

Ye, sell kenwyne.

We are going to have to keep Kenwyne for one more season because of the stupid salary that no other club would be willing to pay for.

Rudy has also chosen the number 39 the same as Bellamy wore.

No sell -on clause - now why doesn't that surprise us?
Yet another example of how the people running the club are clueless?
When was the last time we had a worthwhile sell on clause when selling a player? Didn't we get £500,000 from the Jerome sale to Birmingham when they stayed up one year or am I dreaming that?
Obviously the clubs attitude is that once they've gone from us they will never improve sufficiently to earn a big money move in the future.
The amount of money our client has missed out on over the years by not having such a clause is ridiculous.

Why use a thread about Gestede to have a go at Kenwyne Jones? Do they really think that he is an issue in the Gestede/Cornelius affair. It was Malky you morons.

cannot blame lord malky for anything its always ceo and tan! yet who gave gestede away? ?
Mon Aug 10, 2015 2:42 pm
Malky didn't rate him or maybe they had different agents, who knows.
But it was nothing to do with ceo, chairman or owner they acted on the advice of one Malcolm Mackay. Who they put all their trust in.
Which just showed how nieve they were.
So now they are being much more professional, remember Mutch,Medal and Caulker. We either made money or broke even on them deals.

I give Gestede 1 season at Villa then a move onto someone like Liverpool £12-15m

What's shocking, is that Malky went and paid £8 million for an unkown and untested player to replace Gestede, who ironically had started to play his best football at the club (2 goals against Forest) it was Malky who wanted him to go on loan not the CEO and as he had just months left on his contract then his value was minimal. The CEO would have been led by the managers instruction. Another Mackay bollock, but hey don't let the truth get in the way of the bitterness

A poor transfer which I didn't agree with. But the vast majority of people did agree with it. So it isnt black and white.
Many wanted Noone to be sold for an absolute pittance during the summer. Look at that now.
Hindsight and all that.
What I don't need hindsight to see, is that we have flogged nearly all the talent we have in the squad for next to nothing. And that is being done on the instruction of tan. Replacing good players for ones that fit into a 442 long ball team.
At the same time, mackay took over our club when we had 9 senior players on our books.................9
Getting promoted earning us over 100 million pound.
So there is that.

Yes Malky made a bad mistake there I agree, but so do many managers along the way. The CEO did all the business side if it and looked over by Tan every sake and every purchase.
A manager says what he wants and who he wants out he does not do the business side of it.
But what I will remember Nakky for was achieving what he was asked to do and he did it on the pitch where it mattered a fact and you all Loved it

In all walks of life or businesses the Owners are the final ones responsible for the finances and give people there to over see these things etc in football a CEO

Ok I'll save this and I'll walk around Grangetown in a jack shirt if he signs for a club like Liverpool next year for 12-15 million.

Annis you, can blame the CEO for an overspend but not for malkys poor judgement on the players.
They backer the manager like they should have. Just shame it was the wrong manager again.

Bellamy has come out and said that cornelious was absolute rubbish and not worth a wank basically, he was slow and a headless chicken

at the same time they were sanctioning crippling salaries if we were to be relegated.
it really does beggar belief how incompetent our CEOs have been. they overpay on wages and cost us big money in failing to secure sell on clauses.
maybe, just maybe it would make sense to appoint a british CEO with football experience? instead we get a malaysian puppet in ken choo that gets taken to the cleaners every round of negotiations and as a result we get ripped off.
