' FABIO ? '

Mon Aug 03, 2015 1:08 pm

Fabio is wondering if his future is with Cardiff?

It looks likely that Scott Malone has got the left back position for the start of the season.

Fabio is on £25k per week and wants to stay at Cardiff but is looking to be a regular in the team.

I am hearing that Fabio wants confirmation that he is fully part of Slades plans for the season otherwise the Brazilian could be looking to go elsewhere.

He is our best option in that position he should be nailed on 1st choice at the moment

Agreed

A battle between fabio and malone ( who is looking great) for that position. Unfortunately means declan john out of contention, possibly on loan.

It's absolutely ludicrous how he is not either our first choice left back or right back as he is better than Malone and Peltier. It will be criminal to let him go.

fingers crossed he leaves

The problem with Fabio and John is they're both attacking full backs and don't fit into the 442 system Slade with no doubt persist with. They would be perfect in a back 5 system with 3 CB's and 2 wing backs as they both like to bomb forward but not in the current set up. I personally hope we hold on to both as it gives us another option, especially in away games where I don't think 442 is the best formation to get results. Malone and Peltier are more defensive minded and that is why I think Slade prefers them. Also don't like Fabio on the left I think he's far better and more comfortable on the right.

It was only a friendly but the performance Malone put in on Friday night was better than anything I have seen Fabio do in a Cardiff City shirt, solid in defence and plenty of quality attacking intent including a sublime pass for the third goal and plenty of other decent balls in to the box throughout the game, seems to have struck up a very decent left sided partnership with Ralls. Fabio on the other hard was caught out of position several times in his brief time of the pitch. I like Fabio as he wears his heart on his sleeve, but he is vastly overrated by many of our fan base sadly!!!

He is a good player and I want him to stay, but people are saying he should be starting he is our best, but Malone hasn't put a foot wrong in pre season and has looked very good himself so for now I am happy for either player to play left back and it will be good competition throughout the season

I have to admit, based on last seasons performances I would want Fabio to start (even if he was careless with his positioning). However, from what I've seen so far of Malone he has looked a lot better then when he first arrived. I was really impressed with the perfomance he put in against watford last week.

correct it was stated last season having both rolls and fabio in side weakens us on that side of pitch! :old:

Hopefully he stays and battles it out with malone, but unfortunately looks like Declan will hardly get a shout. Declan is still young and I think is fabio stays he needs to go out in a loan and still could have a big future with us

may be prone to the odd mistake, so does turner, morrison etc... buts gives 110% each and every game and sometimes pulls moments of quality off.

should be first choice everytime..

Malone won't stay fit.

Fabio is hot and cold defensively for me and when he is caught out it really does cost us I prefer Malone. :thumbright: :sladein: :ayatollah:

Yet another class player being over looked, nothing against Scott but Fabio is by far a better player :bluebird:

One of our best players last year, always 100% commitment and is one of the only players at the club who has genuine skill. Yes, he makes a mistake but makes up for it in making things happen. He is just too good and highly paid to sit on the bench. However, I can also see that Slade is trying to build a solid/steady back four. I think that Fabio, might have to look abroad for a club that might suit his style of play better, as I can't see any premier club coming for him and his wages are too high for the championship.

Looks flashy but needs to show an ability to graft. Looked good at Manchester United, but the team was always winning so no pressure.

Think Fabio is defo a bench player this season
He can play either full back can give cover in midfield and even cover a wide position
Makes sense to have him as cover :sladein: :bluescarf: :bluebird:

Re: ' FABIO ? '

I'd keep him as cover for now and to have flexibility with formations. His positional play is often suspect and a liability in a back 4. Great energy but far too often needed in trying to rectify his mistake.

His brother Raphael has just signed for Lyon. I got a serious feeling a French club will come in for Fabio too. Makes sense as they've always been very close

Don't understand this love in with Fabio.....I agree he gives 100% every game...

however the guy is simply a piss poor defender, constantly caught out of position

As he is a full back this is a bit of a problem!!!!!!

Re: ' FABIO ? '

Would have been easily in the top 3 for best players of the season for us if he continued to be in the team.

Gives 100% and got a lot of passion for us.. match made in heaven he always applauds the fans and the fans taken to him since he came in.

Would be huge loss if he went.

This says it all really. But what amazes me is that a lot on here don't see it that way. And yet they supposedly attend matches when Fabio constantly proves them wrong.

IM a fan but wages are a bit high.

Personally Id start him at RB, for me Peltier is a nothing player.
