David Cotterill was the one who told a number of persons that he was signing this week at the Polo yesterday in Poncanna

UPDATED

'Wales midfield player David Cotterill is not on Cardiff City's wanted list and will not be joining the Bluebirds this season.

The 27-year-old Cotterill, who is from Ely, has been strongly linked with a move to the Bluebirds, but manager Russell Slade confirmed the speculation is wide of the mark.

"We are working hard to add quality to our squad, but those rumours are untrue," said Slade'.

Updated

We understand David Cotterill will NOT be joining Cardiff City by Simon Gaskell.

Updated

Apparently Cotteril is touting himself about.

At this moment in time the Club are saying there is No deal.

But Cotteril was the one telling people and is desperate to move to Cardiff for personal reasons.

David Cotteril was at the Polo in Pontcana yesterday and it was him himself who stated that he will be signing later this week for City.

Cal,

Normally agree with most of your posts but not on this one!

Think he's a suitable replacement for Noone, who my sources have told me is definitely leaving, and will add something for his team.

He won't be first choice out wide - that will be Pilkington and Ameobi.

Birmingham away last season he caused us problems, and he'll be a decent squad player.

On top of that, it's another Welsh player in our ranks and a Cardiff boy - even though he used to be a Jack!

It's an improvement on what Craig noone could deliver last season, that's what you call below average! He's a decent championship player

Must be a new formation Russell is going for. 4 defenders, 4 wingers and 2 forwards.

If you compare his stats to Noone then it makes him look like Messi. I love Noone, but last season he couldn't buy an assist or a goal.

What we need at the moment is pace and trickery on the wing, we are so slow getting forward and last season there was never a time that got you off your seat to say 'we'll score here'. I'm not saying he won't be a good signing, but he doesn't excite me.

Same age as Noone but goals and assists last season of 9 and 8 compared to Noone's 1 and 1.

That is what we needed, I agree with you. But I think Ameobi will bring that next season. People are underestimating him, he will have something we didn't have last season.

Pilkington, on the other side, has got the delivery. With me running this forum's MOTM, I expect Pilkington to be right up there IF he stays fit.

Cotterill won't be a regular starter. But he brings a different option. He will come off the bench when Ameobi/Pilkington are tiring.

Another positive from this is I believe Slade will play Ralls in the middle.

If true and he is a replacement for Noone then the club is going backwards.

An average player replacing someone who on their day is a match winner. Noone's only problem is that he is always try's to do too much. More disappointing transfer business by the club.

He's a great crosser of the ball and decent from free kicks. When he came in at the last minute for Wales against Cyprus he was outstanding. He's a decent signing in my opinion.

Yes Ameobi will bring that, but I just hope this isn't the only midfield player we bring in! Still need someone to run the middle.

He deserves a chance mind, all new players do

Agree that we need someone to run the middle. I'd like to see Ralls and a new signing in the middle. Hate to say it, but I think Whittingham's time is up. Either Dikgacoi or Gunnarsson would be good for a 4-5-1 at away games.

We'll have to agree to disagree on Cotterill, but fair play to you for giving him the chance. Many won't, I'm sure :thumbright:

I think this is a good singing nothing to get massively excited about, however, a solid signing! He works hard he has a good delivery and can help with a few goals aswell

I was quite shocked when I knew his age I thought he was older it seems he's been around for such a long time,

Good signing for city and a good replacement for Noone who looks likely to leave
