Cardiff City Transfer News: Javi Guerra insists he was never given a fair chance by Bluebirds

TUESDAY 21ST JULY 2015

BY CHRIS WATHAN

The Spaniard who was signed during Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's reign saw little first team action in South Wales before being shipped out on loan to Malaga last season

Cardiff City striker Javi Guerra has hit out at his treatment by the Bluebirds, claiming: ‘You never gave me a chance!’.

Spanish striker Guerra made his move to Cardiff last summer in a high-profile switch from La Liga only to flop and be told he has no future at the club.

The 33-year-old has played just 41 Championship minutes since his switch from Real Valladolid and is now locked in talks over ending his contract early having been left behind from the pre-season tour to the Netherlands and featuring for the club’s Under 21’s at Carmarthen last weekend.

While a return to Malaga looks to have broken down, the player has claimed there are others interested in rescuing him from his Cardiff City Stadium nightmare which he says the club created after failing to give him an opportunity.

And while he did admit he should share some of the blame for failing to adapt to British football, Guerra told the BBC: “Any player wants to feel valued in his team or at least have the chance to play – and I haven’t had it here since I signed for this team.

“At the beginning the adaption wasn’t easy with people saying this player isn’t worth the money or we don’t like this player.

“Cardiff came to Valladolid to sign me, but the adaption wasn’t easy.

“I blame both myself and the club to have not succeeded the club didn’t have confidence in me and I found it hard to adapt to English football.”

He went on: “The situation in sporting terms is not good and I imagine we need to try to reach an agreement and terminate the contract.”

Signed by former boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, Guerra spent the second-half of last season on loan to Malaga where he scored five times in 13 La Liga appearances.

Malaga were keen on taking him on a permanent deal but have been seemingly unable to come to an agreement with Cardiff where he still has two years to run on the contract he signed following his Bosman move from Valldolid.

“There are clubs that are watching, that are aware of the situation. I would like to reach an agreement with them but I cannot say who they are,” he said. “For me, Spain, as it is my country – and I know the league – it would be much better and I wouldn’t need to adapt.

“In the end it all depends on which team wants and trusts you.”

Total shame a player of his quality hasn't been given a chance. Just goes to show what type of manager Slade is...

He didn't do anything when Ole was here.

Interesting why he doesn't mention WHY he doesn't think he was given a chance.

Attitude, training etc ....

If he had showed in training that he was worth a place he would have got to play.

He's just trying to put pressure on the club to pay him off, as it appears CCFC are holding out for a fair deal. As they should.

No good moaning about the lack of signings and then siding with a player who wants to screw the club for all he can

As I had said on many many occasions, Guerra was never given a chance.

So many players have been saying this in the last year or so,they can't be all wrong, surely?

To be honest pal, I'm still a bit shocked how people think we are going to move forward under a poor League 1 Manager, I was the first to say when he was appointed to give him a chance as I believe everyone deserves a chance, but unfortunately he hasn't proved himself, clueless - wasted quality players such as Guerra and Le Fondre and now Adeyemi - but no probs let's just continue being rumored with League 1 players ! :sladeout:

well now what exactly is his job discription we can all make guesses but none of us know what he actyally hasvbeen told to do
so lets go along with what tha majority of fans think rather than the majority of pisters on herevthink
firstly keep us in the championship for this season
secondly reduce our wage bill and size of first team squad
so if that was his original brief then he has been very succesful
now to this season
firstly keep us in the championship but put a squad together to challenge for a top 6 finnish
reduce the first team squad size even more
bring in the players you need to make a challenge but work within a limited budget to reduce costs even more
if this is the brief then yes im happy in the thought that slade has a good chance of having another succesful season
now if the brief is get us to the premier league at whatever cost then im sure there better managers out there
just have a look at the following
moyes sacked by man utd
pearson sacked by liecester
big sam let go by west ham
and the list could go on
one week the manager is doing fine and is the man the fans want , the next week hes gone

Yes they can.
When a player fails they always have an excuse.
Can you honestly tell me he was training harder than the others and proving himself in training ?
We've got 40 players. Probably 25 of those think they aren't being given a fair chance.
Many won't get it because there are better players here others due to attitude etc

Tried to edit the spelling mistakes/ predictive script but it wont let me and for some reason tripled my post sorry guys
and annis I do know mason met him in ninnion pub a few times generally like his posts
but not his comments this time as you know I allways give my honest oppinions some are liked some are not
had no intention of being rude
and being old enough to be masons grandfather I could have taken exception to being addressed as pal :sladein: :bluescarf: :bluebird:
but conversations on message boards have a habit of becoming out of order/ context :sladein: :bluescarf: :bluebird:

Total shame a player of his quality hasn't been given a chance. Just goes to show what type of manager Slade is...
and what kind of manager would that be then mason
Give us your undoubted experienced view of management built up over what 16 years is it or are you 17 now :sladein: :bluescarf: :bluebird:

To be honest pal, I'm still a bit shocked how people think we are going to move forward under a poor League 1 Manager, I was the first to say when he was appointed to give him a chance as I believe everyone deserves a chance, but unfortunately he hasn't proved himself, clueless - wasted quality players such as Guerra and Le Fondre and now Adeyemi - but no probs let's just continue being rumored with League 1 players ! :sladeout:

Well now we are pals I'm a bit shocked on how a lad living in Spain knows better than a manager who's managed over 700 league games
But hey ho :sladein: :bluescarf: :bluebird:

Steve, when we have our next coffee, I will tell you a lot more about young Mason and I think you will change your opinion :thumbright:

Mason will also be joining us next season in the Sand Martin for a few games :ayatollah:

Football is all about opinions and the Mason as young as he is gives a wide range of good opinions, and you don't have to be a Rocket Scienist to know we have a manager who is totally out of his depth.

Mason
I am over in \\santa ponsa with 3 of mates and wives and will be there for the QPR game, any decent pubs, I usually use the ones near the beach area, been going over for last 10 years but don't really have a local watering :sladeout:

I'm currently in Cheers pub great little pub :thumbright: Andy :ayatollah:

Kensighton Pub run by Tony :ayatollah:

Spot on about Mason :thumbright:

Cheers I will make a note of these, think i have been in the Kensington, good pub couldn't remember the name, seem to remember a few posters of a certain City fan on walls :D :bluebird:
