NFL Games in Cardiff?

Wed Jul 08, 2015 12:52 pm

I just saw this on Twitter:

NFL has also considered Olympic Park, Twickenham and Millennium Stadium in Cardiff for games in UK. More venues possible as efforts grow

As an American, I love the NFL. I was interested to see what the opinion was of the NFL in Wales and how many of you would go to watch a game at the Millennium Stadium? Do a lot of Welsh follow the NFL? Do any of you have a favorite team? :ayatollah:

Don't think it'll be long now till a British team will be formed. Spurs have a retractable pitch at their new stadium, London would be the best place for it to be placed

The NFL signed a deal with Spurs today to play 2 games a year at their new stadium starting in 2018. I think the NFL will either put a team in London or have eight games a year in, and around, London.

Been a Miami Dolphin fan since the late 80's. Would definitely want to see a game at the millennium stadium!!

I'm an Oakland Raiders fan so not a lot to cheer here! Supported them ever since I bought an LA Raiders cap when I was about 8 years old.

I'd love to see the NFL come here. I've wanted to go to Wembley to see it but it always clashes with important work events that I travel for so haven't been able to make it.

When I was growing up, everyone seemed to support either the 49rs or the Chicago bears. Im not that big on american footballI, im one of them who will tune into the superbowl but dont watch regular season games....theyre always on to late due to the time zone difference. If they held a game at the millstad, I'd deffo go with the kids. Something different to go and watch

Been living here for 10 years now & going to see my first live game in December, Raiders v Packers in Oakland, girlfriend is a long time Packers fan and has seen them a few times so it made the perfect birthday present for her, even if one us will be sulking all the way home afterwards. Even though the Raiders have been useless for a while tickets still fetch a hefty premium regardless of the team they're playing and sell for way above face value.

Watched a documentary called "American parking lot" about Dallas cowboy fans and how they reserve their places in the stadium carpark and have barbecues ect. I couldn't believe how much they had to pay for season tickets and to reserve their place in the carpark (which is a big part of supporting an american football team apparently) we think that fans over here are being out priced at the football. They have to pay thousands of dollars, Just to watch something like 8 home games a season or whatever it is lol. I was quite shocked at how much a fan has to pay over there to watch American football.

At the University of Nebraska, season tickets for football cost around $400 for 8 games, but in order to get the tickets you have to make a donation to the school which can range from $500 - $2,500 a seat. Parking costs about $20 or so a game. And that's just college football, not NFL.

I don't mind ice hockey. The fights are great and the American commentators are legendary when a fight breaks out. They have tail of the tapes and everything lol been down the big blue tent and the atmosphere is electric at times. Although it's hard to keep track of the puck, It moves way to fast. I suppose it's more of a Canadian sport, but I've always thought of the Canadians as top people

Massive 'Phins fan, always loved Dan Marino. Would be amazing if they could get a few games at Millenium Stadium.

Loads of NFL fans around South Wales, could be a huge success. Not sure about a permanent team based in London though?!?

My aim is to get to a game next time I'm in US.

My team of choice is the Denver Broncos mostly owing to the fact that my other half is from there. Went to watch them at Mile High against the Raiders back in December when CJ ran riot. Only sporting event I've ever been too where I nearly sunburnt and froze to death when the sun went down in the same game! That aside, it was awesome and I've been to Wembley for the NFL as well - love it!
