That's where Slade will never match Ole

Sun Jun 21, 2015 7:49 pm

Whatever you think about Ole and his short spell in charge at least he could attract players.

New signings came flocking to Cardiff last year to work with him and some of those biggish players.

Can't see anyone just yet tripping over each other to work with our current Manager.

Which is a good thing because Ole brought in players who didn't want to play for Cardiff and just came for either to play under Ole or for a big wage while Slade will bring players who want to play and work hard for Cardiff. :thumbright: :sladein:

Ole was a mistake were still paying for and regardless of your personal views on Slade he will go a long way fixing the excesses of the last two managers.

Biggest factor for 90 % of players at all clubs is wages.
Ole went nuts on this and we are still paying for it.

Once Slade clears out the ones who don't want to fight for us then he'll be able to compete with most Championship clubs for signings

That and the massive pay cheques we were offering.

Exactly most of those players came because we paid ridiculous wages...no other reason

Slade will be judged on what he does next....is he good enough to uncover some lower league/premier league youngsters who turn out to be outstanding championship players???? The basis of a good squad is already there

Ole was defiantly more of an attraction then Slade due to his playing days, but when you really look at it who did he sign that you stood up and said how the hell did we manage to get this player it must of been because of Ole. For all Slades faults and there is quite a few he's managed to sign players who genuinely want to play for Cardiff.

Ole had money to spend on players thats why.

In all fairness deep down it could have been due to the bumper salaries the mercenaries were being offered.

But how many of oles signings have worked out. Manga stands out the rest have either all long gone with little impact made or in an out of the team taken over by slade. It's fair to say oles stewardship was a disaster financially in the transfer market

Did Ole bring Fabio in?

For every Fabio there is a Kenwyn though i suppose!

Yep I do realise the date but loads of other Championship teams are signing players, some as many as five.

Maybe just all the ones we're interested in are on holiday.

Probably in Skegness!

Or maybe the ones we're after can't afford a holiday but their phone batteries are dead.

Ole was a bad choice. Yes he won the Norwegian League but Norway's top league is equivalent to League One and hasn't got a clue how to manage a club in the English leagues. Slade's still trying to clean up the mess he made in terms of our squad.

Slade was a bad choice too but I definitely have a lot more trust in him. He's done an 'okay' job so far, but still needs to improve massively to win us over.

Re: That's where Slade will never match Ole

Ole was a terrible manager and some of his decisions, substitutions, most of his signings, etc, were an embarassment. But, the main thing that some people talk about him, is how he wasted money on wages, signing on fees, etc. What people fail to realise and understand is that Ole Gunnar Soldkjser did not having anything to do with that side of the business. So he didn't have a clue as to how much money a new player would get as a signing on fee or how much to offer a club for a player or how much wages a new player would be on a week. The money side of things is all left down to the owner/chairman and his chief executive and it has nothing to do with the manager. So when people slag Ole off for wasting money by giving players huge wages and other things like that, then they really have not got a clue how a football club works when it comes down to players salaries and things like that. It wasn't Ole that threw money down the drain, the people who wasted loads of millions are still in charge of the club. The things that Ole did wrong were, the choice of players that we signed, being unable to motivate a squad of players, chopping and changing players all the time. Well actually he did very little right when it came to the footballing side of the business.

Bloooooobirds.

Double rubbish! Ole never had anything to do with anything regarding wages. That is all down to the men managing the budgets and contacts. Ole worked within his budget, and Slade will work within his budget. Get real!

Nope. I know how good he is, you don't. Didn't get it right at Cardiff, that we can agree on :thumbright: but this club is wrong from top to bottom, and will take some time to get right for anyone..

That is a large generalisation from your experience from a club in turmoil. He worked closely with Ferguson for years grooming him for a life at managing. But you are entitled to your opinion of course :thumbright:

Solskjaer had a massive budget, nearly double that of what Slade will get, but signed players with no heart and who were only interested in the money.
Despite all the funds available he took us down and left us in 17 th place with an overpaid squad which will take ages to sort out.

Same reason pep Guardiola tinker his team. No one can predict what is coming, and no one can make a educated move against it. It takes some time to gel, and involve more players than the managers who stick to one or two tactics. ole told you why he used the players like he did. Just like Ferguson he wanted players to challenge eachother and rotate from both tactics and players form. Both progressing the players and the team. It's a progressive managing style. Why he chose like he did I can't say. Don't agree with it short term, and especially in a premier religation scrap. As a long term philosophy I love it! For the club investing in it, and leaving it after 7 games in the championship show how far off the club is at the moment. Big problem throughout the championship, and not only Cardiff. The teams with long term plans are the one to succeed . But to catagorically say what you spout as often as you can against Ole, for me, shows little knowledge about who or what he is..

I stopped reading as soon as you compared Ole's team of bottlers to Guardiola's world class squad. Ole couldn't afford to tinker with our team because a large percentage of the players he blew millions on weren't very good!

On your first quote. Rubbish! Absolutely rubbish! He signed players who wanted to succeed and develop. I will join you in the question about players like Dikgacoi and Guerra. I absolutely love Guerra. But both of them are very out of character signings from Ole. Maybe one day Tan will pay out his contract and we will know who signed who. If you blame budgets and wages on Ole you are completely ignorant. on the second quote I partially agree with you. He failed massively keeping city up. Maybe he should have been sacked after that. But to once again change the philosophy of the club and abandon it it seven games in is re dicoulous. Mind you Slade didn't get a point against those top teams :old: It will take time to correct becouse the club once again decided to change philosophy at the wrong time. Not becouse of Ole who sold players for twice his spending. Get real!

And another thing the players were quite unfit at the start of the season and they didn't do the basics properly on the pitch like closing down and keeping a defensive shape and Bellamy himself said that Ole's training methods were shit and the worst of all he was on 4 mill a year he just had to go.
