I would hate the feeling of finishing a week now without working or doing anything productive. The shitness of work makes everything else a lot better.

That about sums it up! It can be tough getting up some days and work can be stressful and a pain in the bum but at least you keep your self respect! It can be satisfying to finish a day feeling you have done a good job.
I was on job seekers for one month after redundancy but when I got an interview I made a real effort to get the job which I did.I went to other branches and questioned staff and looked into the company history. I also made sure I turned up well presented and on time and tried to showcase my strengths as opposed to my weaknesses. I could have sat on my arse and just lived of the system but that feels like existing rather than living to me!

Job centre are very stricked nowadays. If your claiming job seekers they make sure you are trying your hardest to seek employment. Its not like it used to be, when you could take the piss

No, they ask about an individual once every six months maybe ? And as I say it's easier to say 'he wasn't what we were lookinfor' rather than he couldn't be arsed blah, blah because if you give them that kinda response it becomes a game of letter tennis and you have to answer hundreds of questions and give statements. During that time I'm thinking 'my time is money here and I'm spending all this time because the c**t turned it to be useless and as a result isn't earning me any money so what's the point?'

Ah, cheers for explaining to me what its like from the employers point of view Adam. Fortunately for me, I didn't have to deal with the job centre for to long. I found them to be an absolute nightmare.....its easier to work than to deal with them lol sending me on rediculas interviews like making packed sandwiches over on Lamby way, ( I know you are supposed to take what you can get) but my work history is in civil engerneering, and they expected me to make sandwiches lol

Before the days of email they used to come into the recruitment agencies asking for a card which they would then produce to the job centre and tell them that they have been looking for work in the agencies when in fact they were there for seconds. If you refuse to give them a card they would become abusive so for the younger members of staff it was easier just to give them a card and get them on their way.
These days they are all given a log in for universal job match website and they have to apply for jobs on there and that is their proof that they are looking for work. However it's completely flawed because when employers ring some of them up for work they are met with any excuse undertake the sun for them not to get the job!!
The problem is that if you inform the job centre of time wasters it turns out to be a game of letter tennis with many questions and statements about the individual and I can't be arsed with wasting more of my time on the c**t so I don't bother. Honestly if I had £50 for every person who applied for work and never wanted the job then I would be a multi-millionaire.
Unfortunately the left in this country will always wheel out the popular sob stories about benefits being cut but the reality is shocking regarding people's laziness

Why moan so much about it when you can't even be bothered to do your part of helping the job centre find out who isn't actually looking for a job and is being a scrounger?

I do but if they're relying on you to try and find the scroungers then you have a responsibility to take a little bit of your time even if it costs you a little bit of money

Excuse me I don't have a responsibility at all as I'm not employed by the state. First impressions count and whoever I send out is representing me as a person so Its not in my best interests to put people in work who simply don't want work

Ye but you're a part of society and it's better than coming on the internet and moaning about it when you can do something about it. I didn't say you should hire them either, no one should until they buck up which will only happen with people like you being honest and saying when they turn up late and aren't bothered etc.
