" DECLAN JOHN? "

Local Lad,came through Cardiff City's Academy, played in the Premier League, played for Wales and still only 19 years old :thumbright:

Played 20 Premier League games for Cardiff City in 2013-14 Season at the age of 18. :ayatollah:
Has Welsh Senior Caps. :ayatollah:

Aprox wage £5,000 a week

Was not in Russell Slades plans last season, even dropped to train with the youth, then sent on loan to Barnsley.

My opinion is, Declan has proved himself and has never been given a chance.
Local lad with a great attitude and is def a Championship player :thumbright:

Your opinion?

Would you keep Declan?

Do you think Declan should be played and given a chance?

Yes and yes
he should be given a chance
I think he is better than malone

Sorry not good enough

Re: " DECLAN JOHN?

Reading about him he has been played out of position mostly.

I'm not sure what position he should be playing in. Most say midfield wing but he does not seem to have the pace. I've only seen him play full back and I believe we have better.

Since Rambo it does make me wonder what standards are being reach in the academy. None have really broken into the squad comfortable for quite a while now.

Local lad but not a defender maybe a winger tho

Re: " DECLAN JOHN?

Wed May 27, 2015 7:44 am

Terrible defender. Certainly hasn't "proved himself". Might make a winger.

Re: " DECLAN JOHN?

Wed May 27, 2015 7:56 am

He was awful against Norwich @ home during our second half capitulation. I have to agree he is not a full-back, but might be a wing-back or left midfielder.

From FB

Alex Baulch
A superb player

Phillip Turner
Always thought he played his heart out for Cardiff. Never understood why a team loans out a great player to another team in the same division. He was playing great and scoring goals on loan against our rivals while we was struggling. Madness.

I prefer Declan and Malone and also he just needs Slade to give him a run :thumbright: :thumbright:

Ian, another player played out of position, could be a good winger :thumbright: :thumbright:

My thoughts exactly. Not the best full back but could be a superb winger option and not half bad to have as back up for full back just in case.

For me Declan has struggled in certain parts of his game, that said with plenty of hard work and good coaching there is no reason why he cant make it.Dont sell maybe loan him out again, like you said he is still young.

Annis, I have never seen him have a good game

Always out of position and not strong enough in a tackle - Just my opinion :sladeout:

Must be developed as a left winger and utility back up full back.

Definitely good enough for us in the Championship.

Our only Welsh full timer at the moment. This is vital for me that we have local/Welsh players putting on the shirt, me personally, I need this for my team to be representative of where I am from and to rekindle my enthusisasm and passion, and part of the foundations for me to renew my S/T. Club football is drifting so far away from that ethic. This is why international football has been getting more of my passion.

Hope Slade keeps Declan and if he can reduce the wage bill by ousting the 20k plus earners, tries to get in realistic and affordable Welsh targets like Craig Davies/Jack Collison/Jonny Williams/Adam Matthews/Chris Gunter/Adam Henley/Robson Kanu/Sam Vokes/Emyr Huws/Tom Lawrence/Dave Cotterill/Paul Dummet/Wayne Hennessey. All of which will do a job for us Im sure.

Will deffo renew then, even though all my mates aren't.

Just about agree with all of this post - don't know about Dummet or Henley though!

John has a lot of good qualities, and is still young so has time to learn and improve. However, i don't think he has proven he is the answer at full-back and am not convinced he will ever make it as a defender. Would be good to see him tried as a winger in the reserves, and on loan.

What ive seen of him I don't think he is good enough for a championship team.

He should have been loaned out all of last season to see what he can do getting regular game time.

That's fair enough, I agree been out of position many times, but I have to say I've seen Declan play plenty of good games.

James, I believe his best position is a winger and would kid him to be given a run of games :thumbright:

Annis I thought he was awful in the prem, if he had done ok id agree but I thought he was very poor but every time I've seen him I've been less than impressed. He is still young so has that going for him but I don't see him as a Championship player yet, he needs a full season of games and for me that needs to be elsewhere.

To be fair to Declan, he was up against Redmond, who is a Prem standard player and he had no protection from whoever was playing left midfield for us that day. Redmond that day, would have gave anyone a tough afternoon.
I hope Declan still has something to offer us, like others have said, maybe he could do a better job wide left?
