It's easy for people to keep having a go at those who want something for nothing but they are relatively few in society and most of them have a genuine need for help. Millions of working men and women work for such low wages that they need them topped up by working tax credits while the companies they work for make profits on "slave labour".

There is a fundamental problem with our society. Poverty is everywhere in Wales and in many parts of England and Scotland. Personally I think this is a disgrace especially as we are something like the 6th richest economy in the world and if I were rich I would have no objections to paying a lot more tax in order to make the place in which I live a much more just and fair society with no poverty, no crime and excellent public services. People sometimes forget that even those who are relatively comfortable sometimes will need the police and fire service as well as maybe needing an ambulance in an emergency or hospital treatment. With another £30 billion of cuts to come many of these services may well collapse soon. I think that this "I'm alright Jack" attitude is a deplorable human characteristic and I say fair play to Charlotte Church for making a stand as she could easily choose the quiet life but is simply showing that she cares about the quality and fabric of community.

I feel saddened by your cynicism. It's what the tories prey on to keep them in power. We have fundamental differences in our views. You can keep your free market capitalism. It's not so free really, is it? When the markets fucked up and the banks went tits up the "free market" came crawling to the state to the tune of HUNDREDS of BILLIONS of pounds to bail it out. The poor, the working class and even the middle class were forced to pay for the mistakes of greedy bankers. Only the super rich have benefitted. 5. Uses private Health Insurance
6. Speaks with a Home Counties Ascent
7. Worries about paying Inheritance Tax on his death
8. Is concerned about the 40% tax rate for earnings over £150K
9. Has no need of food banks.

Because the British people are thick. Most people in Wales still think that issues like health and education for Wales are dealt with by London whereas they have been devolved for more than 15 years.
