Wez, theyve never actually said what theyve paid for him.

I'm sure Reading said it was £1m.
Either way we should hold out for at least that.
He's very much wanted up there and they won't be the only ones.
His recent run will have alerted others, especially in that area.
Blackburn for example may have a few bob this summer if they sell Gestefe and will be looking for a replacement

Tim, I rem they could not match City's wage offer and needed the transfer fee.

http://www.getreading.co.uk/sport/footb ... es-7185337

"Reading FC striker Adam Le Fondre has completed his move to Cardiff City for an undisclosed fee, thought to be around £2.5 million."

Now the selling club will always give the full possible price with all the possible future add ons tied in, to give the impression to their fans that they sold the player for a good price. However, 1 million and 2.5 million is a huge gap. Whatever the fee was would probably be a total of an initial fee up front, followed by an add on if we got promoted (like our deal with Bournemouth for Kenwyne) and other add on fees for appearances, goals etc.

I reckon we have paid 1.5 million up front for him but the fee could have risen to 2.5 million if Le Fondre was ever present, scored a minimum of 15 goals and we got promoted, but that's purely a guess. I wouldn't settle for anything less than a million up front if we choose to sell.

Anything less than £1m is f*cking ridiculous

Had he been at Bolton all season he would of got 25+ goals so that would put him well above the 3 million mark. But knowing our club he will go for peanuts. He is a proven goal scorer and with the right manager and tactics he can do that for us.

£500k? thats a pitifully low bid.

once again, paying high wages makes players difficult to move on if it doesn't work out. le fondre didnt even want to come here but we offered him cold hard cash that he couldn't turn down.

The real reason why he came here because his hero Ole was here.

Completely forgot about that. Ole was a massive factor.

Yes I recall the statement in one of the papers said "undisclosed but believed to be around 1 million"

Hold out for at least 1 million. If Bolton fail to agree the negotiations would spark interest.

Definitely a 'victim' of our 'anti-football' philosophy and it was no surprise to see him to well at Bolton.. If we had a decent footballing playing style he would prosper with us but I fear the damage is already done and he needs to move on. Who can blame him. Every player needs to feel wanted and enjoy their football.... seems neither criteria exists at Cardiff.

Exactly. This a joke offer if true but it doesn't mean we have to accept the first offer - knowing our joke club though, we'll bite their hand off!
For a striker who's almost guaranteed goals at this level I would think his value should be in excess of the 2 mill mark.

read through the comments,

Because of Le Fondre's reluctance to travel, he will only be on offer to Bolton & a select few others that are Northern. I can't see any club rivalling a bid for him so the value will not rise dramatically from Bolton's valuation.

If Bolton stick to their guns, Cardiff may cave-in just to get a high earner off the wages.

Be interesting to know what he goes for, but my guess is that this is defo an 'undisclosed' fee due to the potential embarrassment it might cause

Bolton won't be able to pay enough to get him. If he wants to go up north he'll have to hang about till Burnley sell Ings...if they go down. Or Blackburn lose either Rudy or Rhodes.

I think le fondre had enough chances with us for some reason he just fluffed them

or, because because we were willing to pay him the most? the ole factor was a tick in the box, but the bottom line is he didnt ever really want to come here.
