" FROM BLACKPOOL FANS WHO CAME TO CARDIFF ON SAT '

From Ram Laing(FB)

Hi Annis, we arrived back to Sunny Blackpool with banners in tact. Please can you thank all the Bluebirds for your support today. Football is not a business! It's a way of life! All the best for the future. It's time to get our game back!

From Peter Johnson

Annis,it was good to see fellow football fans like yourselves supporting us on Saturday,we just wanted to show our feelings towards our owner, your stewards threw out over 20 of us during the game, there was no threatening behaviour by us,we went peacefully,we were videoed and then told to go away from your stadium, please pass on our thanks to your fans for their support

"UPDATED" ' NO FREEDOM OF SPEECH TODAY? ? ? '

 " UPDATED " :o

UP TO 20 ODD BLACKPOOL FANS WERE THROWN OUT/EJECTED BY CARDIFF STEWARDS FOR PROTESTING WITH BANNERS ETC AGAINST THEIR OWNER.

Some under the stand were ejected for having scarfs with Oyston out on.
Apparently they were told our club would not like this and orders were given to our stewards to eject them.

They said they would like the Cardiff fans for their Support :thumbright: :ayatollah: :bluescarf: :bluebird:

:ayatollah: viewtopic.php?f=2&t=157616 :ayatollah:

As everyone knows Blackpool football club and their fans are in a crisis far worse than us.

I spoke to Blackpool fans before the game and they intended once again as they always do, to protest against their owner.

The loyal 100 odd Blackpool fans came to Cardiff today and had 3 banners, none with any racism on or swearing etc.

They were continually told to put the banners down by Cardiff stewards and eventually at least 3 Blackpool fans were thrown out and videod by the the Police. :o  :o

I asked the Blackpool fans does that happen at the other away grounds you go to they said NO,but they did say they were pleased with the Cardiff fans continual support of their protest :thumbright: :ayatollah: :bluescarf:

Where has our Freedom of speech gone? ? ?

Who'd have believed what lay ahead for both clubs after that great day in the sun at the play off final? How times can change!

Annis, just want to say thanks for the article about today. I am a Blackpool fan (and regular protester). The article is now on the Tangerine Knights page here ---

of course you are welcome to comment as it will get a very good reaction from Seasiders.. Some of my friends were thrown out and are still in Cardiff with all the Oyston Out banners..

We have a huge protest next Saturday dubbed as Judgement Day - The Day When Fans Unite

Karl Oyston asked us to judge him at the end of the season - so we are doing

And we have invited fans from all over the country as "Fans United" to join us and show that we can all stand together as one

BLACKPOOL, CHAMPIONSHIP, FOOTBALL
Freedom of Speech in Football

by joehamer92

We live in a country which alleges to be democratic, in which freedom of speech is promoted and where the public’s right to express opinions should be protected. The majority of the time this remains the case and individuals and groups are able to arrange and partake in non-violent protests without restrictions on their statements providing that are not defamatory.

However, during a period in which democracy, free-thought and fair debate are all key in the run-up to a general election; the country’s favourite sport and pastime finds its own freedom under threat.

Over several months there has been various instances in which Football fans, paying customers to what were once great public institutions but have increasingly become treated as private businesses, have been prevented from entering stadiums with anything that the majority shareholders may disagree with.

Organisations claiming to hold the interests of supporters across the country have failed thousands of people by failing to act on their behalf, frequently avoiding the issue completely. Yet what is more worrying is the lack of action from government authorities that has left free speech in Football on the edge of extinction.

Understandably, this may be seen as an exaggeration. The majority of clubs which currently treat their supporters as such, remain fair and responsible. However if action is not taken against the increasing number of clubs using private security to seemingly implement and enforce their own laws outside of those decreed in parliament, a dangerous precedent could be set from which there may be no return.

On Saturday 25th April Cardiff City hosted Blackpool FC at the Cardiff City Stadium. The match itself was unlikely to hold any importance in terms of Football with both sides seasons all but over. However it came about that numerous visiting supporters who had committed to the 4-5 hour journey to see inevitable defeat, were denied entry with banners and scarfs carrying statements against the now infamous club owners. This has been confirmed by supporters of both clubs, who are united in their suffering under the stewardship of two of the most unfit and un-proper owners to ever grace the game.

Previously during what has been an abysmal season for everyone associated with Blackpool FC, it has been requested that any banners being brought to home games meet required fire safety regulations and have been checked before the game. Fair enough, it’s difficult not to be Sceptical but it is a reasonable request.

What has been simply unacceptable is the removal of banners with no given reason and the prohibition of scarves based on a message they carry. This has occurred frequently at home matches and has resulted in supporters receiving stadium bans, therefore being blocked from sharing an opinion within a democratic society. Yet it is usually not the police who have acted against supporters, but stewards. Men and women in luminous jackets who struggle to direct people to their seats and carry no more lawful rights or powers than any fan. It is difficult to understand then, how these inadequate members of temporary staff who spend 90 minutes chatting and fail almost completely in their job of ensuring supporters are safe, have found themselves in the position of enforcing rules which go directly against basic entitled freedoms in this country.

The reason is the club owners. Owners who’s self-proclaimed power and authority stretch beyond the confides of the club they control, so that supporters are denied access to stadia across the country at the request of one individual. Owners who have consistently mistaken wealth for power using their financial position to suppress Football supporters who are generally not particularly well off.

This is something I have experienced myself and seen happen at various away matches, where stewards deny entry and have even cited that our own Club’s chairman has requested them to act in such a way.

None of this should be allowed. The Football League ignore it (and have ignored me when I rejected their generic response to issues which I raised) the FA ignore it, and have allowed Blackpool’s chairman to constantly delay action against him for a separate incident. But this matter is above them. It is a basic rights issue that needs to be immediately investigated by officials who do have the power of law on their side.

Kerry Young Just been reading it. Good stuff Annis. The stewards were actually decent enough. I got told 3 times to take my banner down and still didn't get thrown out!
Amazing support from football fans all over the country and I was especially pleased to see the Bluebirds extending that on Saturday. For football fans to raise over £20k in less than 3 days to our legal fund for fans being sued by our club just shows that fans united can be stronger than any owner. You have won one battle with VT but I know the war is far from over.

shocking tactics by those that instructed stewards to remove both banners and the fans, the price of modern football is destruction of clubs by owners that get bored......im worried for cardiff city as im not convinced by tan wanting to get back in prem......we as blackpool fans are viewed as a pain in the arse, not welcomed as an integral part of a football club....i hope blackpool can survive...for the sake of football... :ayatollah:

You slag off Tan given any opportunity. That is one of the reasons why I seldom agree with you. It baffles me that you cannot accept that if Tan had not come to our rescue when HMRC were about to finish us off there would be no Cardiff City left to support. Get real, Annis, if that is not asking too much.

There is some truth in what you say. Certainly, I have come to detest a large part of our fan base including many on this message board. Especially those who having got the blue back, still want the Club I have supported for over 50 years to sink into oblivion. Because that's what will happen when Tan pulls out( although there may be a couple of relegations in store before he does.)

Absolutely appalling behaviour by Tan and his cronies. I think this should not be allowed legally; even though he owns the stadium its a public place and democratic protest should override his opinion. He can do what he likes in his own private space but any publically open arena should allow peaceful protest as long as it doesn't represent a breach of peace.

All this nonsense is a reminder of feudal times.

The club is dying through Tan anyway. If I am so wrong, up to today less than 4,000 season tickets sold, this time last year about 14,000 sold, 10,000 not renewed says a lot does it not?

Ive renewed because thats me,but everyone is allowed their opinions and beliefs it looks like 10,000 dont agree with you,but your entitled to your opinion.

I'm with you here Annis despite all the so called investment (better known as high interest loans) he's made the club a laughing stock and totally embarrassed the supporters. I work all over the UK and when I mention Cardiff City Football Club the response is normally what is that lunatic doing to Cardiff City!

I'll refrain from saying what I think of the Blackpool fans' stance against their owner so as to avoid any possibility of a libel suit. As for our owner who has saved rather than shafted us what can we possibly gain by continuing what is becoming a vendetta against him and a very risky one at that. Plain wrong that Blackpool banners were confiscated by us as it is none of our business. Similarly' the quote from the Blackpool fan that you readily published alluded to our owner's shortcomings. Again none of his business either as he is probably unaware of the dire straits we were in until Tan.showed up. But you have no such excuse as I am sure you were aware of the HMRC activity unless, of course, you have chosen to forget about it. Would like to meet for a drink with you sometime, Annis. No doubt we'll argue as to who buys the first round.

I honestly like a good debate ask Troobloo, before every home game we banter and never agree, he offers me an ice cream, but cant even deliver that

On a serious note, yes Tan paid of the Tax man, then stripped our club of its identity and turned fan against fan and made us the laughing stock of the country.

How about this

Yesterday, representatives from the Tangerine Knights met with members of the local police force to outline our plans for Judgement Day.

During this conversation the police said that we were being refused access to the Morty statue to lay memorabilia. We were also informed that Mr Oyston could take out a civil trespass injunction to stop us doing this.

During a further meeting today, the club reiterated that they were absolutely not going to allow any form of protest at the Morty statue and we have now discovered that the statue has been removed by the 'Company'. As can be seen from the photographs attached.

We find the removal of the statue a clear sign of disrespect to all fans and to Morty himself.

We are sure that the club will have some legitimate reason for the removal, however the timing is very coincidental.

Are you real or just a WUM?

The supporters have been locked in dispute ever since the rebrand. That is the source of the negativity. If I come round and paint your house a different colour, you'll be cheesed off too. This anti-Tan stuff isn't irrational. It's borne out of experience and past struggles.

This message board does not pretend to reflect the views of all supporters, but are you sure Tan would have done a u-turn on the say-so of a message board? No! It was a general feeling of being let down and losing identity.

The stewards' actions, under instruction have been shocking at times. This is verified by many comments from inside and out of CCFC.

If you don't like what is said on here, express a counter argument. You won't get banned unless you personally attack another poster or express abhorrent views about race, sexuality, religion, etc.

Please don't just generalise as you Mahe yourself look silly in my opinion.

The club's recent ticket giveaway was a good example of dividing fans, but overall, positive things came out of it. More of the same please.

Just saying. :-)

I was embarrassed by the actions of our stewards on Saturday and with hindsight I think all 26,000 ( :laughing5: ) should have walked out in protest. How powerful would that have been and a real show of fan unity?

City Slicker wrote:Absolutely appalling behaviour by Tan and his cronies.

If it was a public place you may have a point.

The point was, there was nothing on the banners or their scarfs that were out of order.

I feel for the Blackpool fans and its good to see football fans unite from other clubs, we must remember how much football means to many football fans,to some its their life and they love their clubs :thumbright: :thumbright:

No your quite right, nothing offensive at all but it doesn't matter a jot if the owners of the club do not permit banners as our lot will know. You know yourself whatever establishment you enter whether it be a football ground, cinema, pub or restaurant you abide by their rules, end of.Blimey, how many people have you and your mods banned because they've said something you don't like?Which ,of course is your right as you own this site.

First only banned people for continually belittling, continually sarcastic and bringing down other posters, swearing, racism etc.

Every poster that wants a good debate is very welcome on here and different opinions :thumbright: :thumbright: :thumbright: Thats why the Forum has grown and grown ,over 5 years old this forum :thumbright: :thumbright:

As to Pubs/Night clubs/Cinemas etc your right :thumbright:

But a football club is different its peoples lives and they Love it beyond.

We worship our clubs, well we use to

I wasn't having a dig at you(not this time anyway  )My point is as YOU own this board and what you ban people for is neither here or there and theres not alot I can do about it whether its right or wrong just as when you buy a ticket for the city you are agreeing to their terms and conditions and if you don't like them well...................

I think the point being it shouldn't be the case. I'm sure you're right that these owners can probably get away with anything dhort of murder in establishments they own. That tells us a lot about the real establishment and how they pay lip service to democracy. However it cannot be ethically right. If someone opens up to their establishment for the paying public they should have no more say in what goes on than in any public place and arbitrary censorship should not be allowed. As long as the behaviour is deemed legal in any public area then an owner should not have the right to prevent it. They open their places for their own benefit so should conform to the public metier. In their own private space without the money involvement then things could be construed differently. Democracy is precious and fragile, we don't want rich bastards dictating to the common man. :sladeout:

It baffles me that you cannot accept that if Tan had not come to our rescue when HMRC were about to finish us off there would be no Cardiff City left to support. Get real, Annis, if that is not asking too much.

Like Swansea QPR Southampton Crystal palace.ect ect.Get your lips off Tans arse for gods sake. You are making a fool of yourself.Or are you realy the vile dictator that is Tan.Do you wear a poppy for those that died defending freedom of speach. If you do you are a hypocrite.
