City issue Langston legal counterclaim over debt
By BBC Sport

Thursday, 9th April 2015

The full unedited statement is as follows :

Court proceedings have been issued against Vincent Tan to pay an amount of 5.75 million pounds plus interest. This amount is due to be paid by the Club and Mr. Tan legally and personally guaranteed payment in the event of non-payment by the Club. This amount is the balance due under the Settlement Agreement with Langston as unfortunately Mr. Tan and the Club are now in default with the legally agreed payments.

Legally the demand is from both the Club and Mr. Tan but it is for Mr. Tan to honour the guarantee he has given or to use his resources to allow the Club to pay its debts. It is to be hoped that Mr. Tan recognises and executes his legal responsibilities and in so doing, avoids the Club itself being dragged into the legal proceedings.

Cardiff City Football Club has stepped up the legal battle with former owner Sam Hammam and creditors Langston.

In February, Hammam confirmed Vincent Tan and the club were being sued for nearly £6m owed to Langston.
But the Championship club has now issued a counterclaim against Hammam and Langston with the High Court.

The claim was made on Wednesday and will run alongside the one made by Langston, which claims that £5.75m was due to be paid on 30 January.

A procedural hearing - known as a case management conference - will be fixed in the next few weeks.
It is believed Cardiff City will claim the club actually overpaid on the debt.

The club is determined to know the identity of the corporation. Club president Hammam has been widely seen as Langston's representative.
However, Cardiff chairman Mehmet Dalman maintained that Hammam had told the club he was ''not'' a representative of Langston.

It is understood the club want to oust Hammam from his position of life president, which was part of the settlement on a debt of £24m in the form of loan notes, issued when Hammam was at the helm of Cardiff.

As we should. If I owed someone money I would like to know who I'm giving it to!

Imagine after we payed the debt to them and the FA found the dealings to be illegal? We'd be in the shit

Totally agree, I can't believe we paid some without us knowing who it is. Finally we should get some clarity.

Sam told the club he is not a representative of Langston, doesn't mean he isn't!

I think we all have been wanting to know the truth about Langston for years, now we might find out.

I understood it as by Sam putting it on record that he was not a representative, it follows that he has finally admitted to actually being Langston?? Which of course throws a whole new complexion on things

The circus is lining up for its main event but like many top bills to headline I think those who are watching in anticipation for something dramatic to take place may be left disappointed, as I would not be surprised to see this settled outside of a court just days before.

Carl,

We all thought would happen last time the matter went to court but no settlement was reached and Langston were given a slightly bloody nose by the judge, who if I remember said that there seemed to be a definite link between Sam and Langston.

I'm afraid that with the egos(and deep pockets) involved on both sides of this argument a settlement must be considered unlikely.

I see Walesonline have again failed to print the full statement that was released on February 5th.

The full unedited statement is as follows :

Got to be honest I'm utterly board of hearing about this shit, not a dig at the op just saying it's getting ridiculous I can't wait for when we can just focus in football again.

Ian, I think there is a mistake here by the BBC or Dalman as Sam has never denied this and as far as I am concerned he was.
