CCFCJosh75 wrote:LOAN: Arsenal defender Semi Ajayi has joined Cardiff City on loan until May 2nd.
The Nigerian, 21, has featured on the bench for the Gunners in the Premier League this season but is out of contract in the summer.
Picked up from Charlton after a successful trial in 2013, Ajayi followed a similar path to Carl Jenkinson in moving to north London.
As Arsenal struggled for injuries this season, the 6ft 3in player was an unused substitute in games against Hull City, Stoke and Newcastle, as well as in the Capital One Cup defeat by Southampton.
But with Arsene Wenger keen on bringing in a defender during this window and Ajayi's deal running out, Gus Poyet is casting an eye.

Might be, but I thought an 'emergency loan' was for when a club had an injury crisis.

Well with a name like that he was never going to get a game in the stiffs. As for letting Connolly then I think this just makes it clear that he will leave permanently and loaning this guy with a view to sign is more about the long term that just this season. As with all new signings though I like to wait to see how I rate them (good or bad). Some on here are too quick to judge before someone has kicked a ball

Might be, but I thought an 'emergency loan' was for when a club had an injury crisis.
There are mainly 3 types of loan deals, Standard loans which run between transfer windows August - January, August - May, January - May etc, then there are emergency loans which have a maximum duration of 93 days and only occur when the FL transfer windows open between transfer windows, then there are youth loans which can operate on a standard or emergency basis. The goalkeeper "Emergency Loan" can be allowed outside of transfer windows.
Just the terminology and nothing to do with injury crisis.
