It's good to see the fans starting to warm to him. He will never let us down and I thought he epitomised our performance tonight. The chasing he did late in the second half to force them back lifted the crowd. I would like to think the fans are starting to realise he has a bit of ability as well. I would like to see him be given a run in the team, I think he more than deserves it after his recent performances.

Exactly what I like about what slade is trying to do
No prima donnas players that want to play here and give their all for the shirt for me as a fan it's all I've ever wanted from a player that plays for us
Nice to have a side that oozes class but for me that side isn't a championship winning side gotta do things ugly in this league Malky Mackay proved that winning promotion
Ole tried to build a squad that played good football and had bags of quality unfortunately that doesn't always work in this league, where you get little time on the ball tackles flying in and real gritty matches
May not 100% think slade is the man to take us up again but depending on our finances going forward that won't necessarily be our target judge that depending on who goes and who comes in next year but if they work their nuts off for the cause they are fine by me
Tue Mar 17, 2015 11:29 pm
Slade is building a squad to be proud of that will always give 100% no big ego's like malky's and next season you never know.

And me Carl - worked tirelessly and looked sharp too.

He did well tonight, no doubt on the bench Saturday mind
Him and Doyle seems an obvious starting pair to me but doubt we will see it.
Good to see a slade signing

Fantastic work rate and passion which cannot be faulted, however he is certainly lacking on the ball and cannot play in a front two with Jones.

Dumb & Dumber behind me (please if there is a god make sure they don't renew next season) said that Revell is possibly the worst player they've seen in ages and were actually laughing at him midway through the second half when he chased Bournemouth's entire back line. And I quote:
"Haha look at him running around chasing shadows hahahaha - now he can't even breathe, he's f*cked, get him off!"
How I didn't knock the pair of them out there & then I don't know.
This was after a preivous cracker in the first half in which I heard one of them say after 15 minutes - "Pilkington is getting roasted by their striker."
Oi Vey - It's hard enough watching what's in front of me this season, but with Paddy & Murphy bellowing out corkers like that for 90 minutes in stereo the last couple of years, it seriously tries my patience.

He is not good enough !!
Macheda has all the talent in the world but little application, this guys tries.....So what.
If we didn't bloody launch it every time we have the ball we wouldn't need target men.
This everyone loves a trier bollox does my head in.... Its like paying £30 quid to see a top singer but you get some bird giving it all on a Karaoke machine.....but she tries.......
Playing Jones as a 442 striker doesn't work with a speedster, but fcuking Revell is just a joke.....
Hooray for Peter Whittingham corners......because thats all we got !!!!!!!
Get rid of the lot of them, but the manager needs to go first !!!!!

Yeah good shout. We've gone backwards in a major way and want to accept these second rate players. They are all average. But I do like s#it and effort instead of s#it and no effort.

Its amazing what we will settle for these days, plenty of effort but little skill and there's no way Revell will ever be a top end Championship striker. Look at the work rate of Kenny Miller and Helgusson when they were playing the lone strikers role up front. Plenty of effort but also no little skill, holding the ball up and bringing others into play.
I admire Revell in that he is making the most of his limited ability and undoubtedly wants to succeed at this level but lauding a player just because he runs around a lot shows how far we've fallen in the last few seasons

I really think we've made some good signings - Revell, Peltier and Kennedy. I would love to sign McAleny over the summer. He's a real prospect and might even be tempted to leave Goodison with the prospect of regular football. I know Martinez does rate him highly though.

On another point, teams like Brentford and Bouremouth have done exceptionally well without star names. It may be that Slade is lacking the Howe factor, but things have improved a lot since Trollope arrived.

Don't think I've ever disagreed with a post so much. Did you actually watch the game last night? Revell is more than good enough for the Championship. He's very underrated on the ball. He scored a classy chip at Brentford and his swivel and volley in the first half was very unlucky. Revell is a 6'3 mobile target man who is decent on the ball and runs himself into the ground. He is more than good enough for us.

Haha good read!
Sums up a couple of posters on here nicely.

Did you honestly just dig up a post I made in March after Revell played very well? Oh dear!

I didn't do it to single out you in particular, but this board goes so OTT at times its good to remind people of their changing positions.
I just popped revel in the search bar of my posts and this was the oldest.
I just wanted to show how we all wanted triers over prima Donna's but when the triers aren't good enough we forget what we liked.
If you look deep enough through my stuff it will say i really thought Joe mason was what we needed as he can fill the gap between midfield and the striker..... If you look since September I have been screaming he hasn't developed and isn't good enough. That's the beauty of message boards, your posts come back to haunt you.

Cardiff City have today confirmed that striker Alex Revell has made the loan move to Wigan Athletic until January.
The 32 year old's deal is still subject to international clearance but there won't be a problem with that and he makes the move to Wigan on a spell that will last until January 23.
Having joined us from Rotherham United last January, and teamed up with Russell Slade for the second time, he has scored three times in his 18 starting appearances for us.
He also has a further ten appearances from the substitute's bench.
