Whisper it quietly ....

But are we becoming a lot harder to beat and even showing signs of togetherness team spirit and desire to play and win for the shirt? Some quality is needed but we are slowly building some foundations to at least be able to compete next season, I would like to think so but the summer transfer window will be crucial.

The pressure on the promotion chasing team is mounting...We rode our luck

Can't compare the two sides.

Regarding the next window, Goalscorers don't come cheap, I think Le Fondre will be ok for us next season, get some wingers in and a decent central midfielder to offer him some service.

I wasn't comparing the two sides, if anything I was comparing our team to the team Slade inherited, long way to go but it's a start

Pilky to come back in and mason and I had forgot about le fondre but think he be on his way. Centre midfielders crucial

We were comprehensively outplayed at home yet again, relying solely on set pieces to be a threat and creating virtually nothing from open play for the whole game.

Spent 90 minutes chasing shadows and rode our luck against a team who hit the bar, had a goal disallowed which should have stood ( although that was probably our goalie's fault) and who had a number of chances to win the game.

I accept what you say in that SOME of our players seem to be showing a good deal of willingness to fight for the cause but we are a very long way from being a team that can compete at any level higher than mid to lower part of the Championship.

No way! I totally disagree, after 20 mins we settled into the game and were good for our point.

Spot on mate
Rode our luck at times
Different day we would of lost 4 1 not got the draw
Some fans are deluded
Don't get me wrong we are looking abit better
And it was quite exciting game for once I thought but for the wrong reasons
Summer transfer window will be crucial for next season if we want to compete and go back to the premiership

You have to start somewhere, and conceding just 8 goals in ten games is a foundation. Drawing with a side who have been hammering sides for fun is also a foundation. Your expecting to much to soon, the shape we were in at one point this season I would have bitten your hand off for mid table players who never gave up and 4 points against brentford and Bournemouth in 3 days. You are the king of doom and gloom

It's funny how we all see the game differently isn't it, though I would suggest that the possession figures from the game would suggest that all we settled into was running around without the ball.

Sometimes you have to look behind the bare facts. We were lucky on Saturday to benefit from two goalkeeping errors and we were lucky tonight that a perfectly good goal was wrongly disallowed and that Bournemouth missed a host of chances which they should have taken.

We have been battered in both these games and yes, it's been to the players and managements credit that we have battled hard to earn that bit of luck, but the fact is that we seem to be playing better now only because we were playing so unbelievably badly before. We still cannot pass the ball, retain the ball, threaten other than from set pieces or put opposing teams under pressure for any concerted period.

You may think I am the king of doom and gloom but I believe I am taking a realistic view of where we are without the benefit of rose tinted spectacles.

You can't really put our last two results down to us getting harder to beat. It's all about pure luck in my opinion. Apart from very short spells in each game we've been totally smashed, we were against Brentford and we certainly were again last night.

Our football is totally uninspiring.

I'd pay to watch our team play like Bournemouth though. They knocked the ball around well, virtually never went for the long punt and on another night could have scored a shedload against us.

The Cheers in front of me when Jones was dragged off last night were so loud they must have sounded to him like praise but it certainly wasn't.

Much improved, at leat we are competing, and more importantly creating chances, a lot of work to be done but looking much better.

Saw the two games and in both we were a distant second in terms of ability but in fairness, we might not have much quality in the team, apart from Manga, but we are starting to show a lot more spirit. The luck was definitely with us in both games though!

I agree that we are not great and your right we were so poor before that we have just improved on that. As for luck, don't believe in it at all. You make your own luck. We weren't unlucky against Charlton, we didn't concentrate and got punished. Can't have it both ways. :bluescarf:

It doesn't matter who we play, Slade has no idea how to set teams up in 2015.

The pressure is on the promotion chasing teams, let wait to see how we play against Brum. For me this will be Slades defining game. 2 teams with FA to play for except the future. Rowlett vs Slade; new school vs old school.....

I started of positive but can't have him.

Re: Whisper it quietly ....

Wed Mar 18, 2015 12:25 pm

Looking promising but this has nothing to do with Slade, this is all Trollopes coaching and getting the players working hard and good team spirit! The players seem to play for Trollope not Slade but hope next season we get rid of Slade and either get an experienced manager with Trollope or give Trollope a chance! Next season will be different as we will have a better Pre-season in our belts and get these players fit and ready next season! Bluebirds Bluebirds Bluebirds! :bluescarf: :bluescarf: :bluescarf:

I for one am defo not referring to lucky or unlucky goals.

What I'm saying is we were more than a bit lucky to get anything out of two games when we were totally outplayed over 90 minutes.

When that happens it means your lucky not to have been well beaten. Isolated lucky moments often even out over time, being outplayed in most games certainly doesn't.

On any other night we might have conceded 6 against Brentford and another 4 against Bournemouth. It's mainly down to luck that we didn't.
