After returning the kit to blue, Cardiff City owner Vincent Tan says he's happy with the new badge design and calls for unity among the fans
Vincent Tan says he is keen to see the reaction of Cardiff City fans to the new club crest when it is revealed on Monday.
The club badge will be in the shape of a shield and the bluebird will have a major presence, while there is also a smaller dragon, similar to the one close to Cardiff’s City Hall, included.
“The new crest has been designed in house at Cardiff City,” said Tan. “It is very good and I am happy. The dragon this time is an Oriental dragon, while the bluebird is truly outstanding there.”
Tan was talking to the official Cardiff City Player website before he watched the home match against Wolves and he talked about the return to blue kit.
“Before Christmas, my mother said it was not a good idea to keep talking about the kit and that I should do something about it,” said Tan. “We are back in blue and I hope the changes are for the better.
“We must all be positive and that positivity will be a help to the team.”
Tan now owns Cardiff City and FK Sarajevo, while he has a major interested in Los Angeles FC.
“I enjoy investing in all three clubs,” said Tan. “I am pleased with Cardiff city’s form. We have improved a lot in terms of performances and results.
“We beat Wigan and that was excellent. I am happy with what the team are doing.
“I talked to Aron Gunnarsson and congratulated him on his excellent goal against Wigan, while I also talked to David Marshall, Peter Whittingham and all the players.
“My words to them were that I am confident they can do well and we will be in good shape.
“Hopefully, we will be back in the Premier League in the near future.
“It’s good to be back in Cardiff. I have been busy in Malaysia and Asia, but I watch all matches on live stream.
“I also talk to the chairman (Mehmet Dalman) on an almost daily basis and our chief executive Ken Choo). There is never a time when I am not very aware what is going on at Cardiff City.
“I am happy with my investment in Sarajevo. They are second in the league and hopefully can win the trophy.
“In terms of LA, my Asian partners and I have bought into the franchise. We own 80 per cent and Americans own 20 per cent.”

I will forever hate Tan for the rebrand, but those kicking up a fuss over the oriental dragon are being very unreasonable imo. We are back in blue and it looks like the Bluebird will be back as our main emblem. What more do you all want?

It is about his ego as I said in my OP , Tan is the only owner in the football league to put something of his culture on a football teams badge which has been around for over 100 years. Do you see Abromiovich (SP) put anything Russian on Chelsea badge , Venkys put anything of their culture on Blackburn badge , Leeds owner putting anything Italian on theirs, I could go on but not 1 owner has done this . Tan is the only owner who wants something to do with him on the badge and it's wrong the badge should be about representing Cardiff's history and Culture not a mans ego tripTonteg Bluebird wrote:darran1927 wrote:this is all about Tan's ego. If this was all about Tan's ego, we would still be playing in red with this horrendous beer mat badge. Tan has gone back on his ridiculous rebrand and giving us a new badge with the Bluebird as the main, prominent, dominant symbol. We can't ask for any more.
